Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

Hope it hasnt been posted already but here is a nice, scroll-down-able link with lots of outfits. www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/fashion/style-files/news/g37800/meghan-markle-kate-middleton-duchess-of-cambridge-style/
I think that Meghan looks better in slick, sleek, dark outfits, like the navy stella McCartney and her awards dress. Also looks stunning in a plunge neckline, which she probably has to tone down now. The boatneck just doesnt suit her figure, especially when it is made of thick, lined fabric rather than a thin jersey knit, and unfortunately just scrunches up on her torso. So hoping to see more deep V-necklines and sleek tailoring.

I understand what everyone is saying in terms of conservative and classic regarding Catherine Cambridge and how her outfits may be erring too much on that side. However I wonder if that is very deliberate so she feels dressed for her role as part of the uniform I mentioned earlier. If you dress the part of regal, a bit more conservative and traditional most likely than those you are meeting it helps her act the part and others to recognize that she is representing the crown. William is always conservative for the same functions and that is never questioned.

Then she is free to have her own identity outside that role and be as creative, relaxed and slobby as she wants in her own time. By not being too concerned about fashion it takes the pressure off to a certain extent. The Queen has done that herself, created a very public style that stands outside fashion and works ona. Very practical level for the type of work she does and the role that she plays in a room or event.

Perhaps Catherine is finding her own version of a somewhat timeless wardrobe that helps us recognize her. Her coat dresses work so well on her and are very practical while being conservative and carry her into almost any setting. Also she can do the monochrome look just like the queen with a coat dress, so she can be spotted in a crowd. It’s interesting to see her try a few new ideas such as the trouser suit (yay!) that would seem ideal for her work.

evilharpy · 26/12/2018 10:04

Tipsey such a load of bollocks. What did the Fail say? I refuse to go on the website.

Hello Magazine website yesterday was completely innocuous and didn’t try to hint at any feud!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/12/2018 10:09

The DM are shit stirring this morning. They used the word “allegedly”
Which means “ We are lying but we need an attention grabbing headline which has the word feud in it”.

IdaBWells · 26/12/2018 10:09

Yes Harebell Meghan is so tiny and petite it’s easy for to get swamped. She is small boned like Audrey Hepburn, although if it’s possible Audrey was smaller at less than 100lbs! That’s what I felt about her beautiful wedding dress, the design was lovely but the fabric was perhaps too heavy for such a tiny frame.

MrFMercury · 26/12/2018 10:09

Just checking in. I'll have to give some thought to favourites but for the DoC her dress at Eugenie's wedding is up there and I loved what she wore yesterday too but I can't get over how tiny she is!

Rhubarbisevil · 26/12/2018 10:10

Lady Sarah dressed like her mum in that wedding photo but her face is pure Princess Anne. I love Lady Sarah and her sons are so handsome.

MrFMercury · 26/12/2018 10:14

Turns out I didn't need time for the DoS after all, her outfit at the fashion awards was fantastic. Everything from the fit to the accessories were spot on as far as my very untrained eye can tell. And she just glowed in fact both Meghan and Kate really light up when they are happy.

beanaseireann · 26/12/2018 10:17

Thank you QueenoftheAndals for the new thread.
Did anyone else notice Meghan's necklace on the Church Walk at Sandringham.
It was gold and appeared to have 3 tiny gold balls on it. One for Harry, herself and bump ?
I thought Kate looked very smart. Meghan's outfit was ordinary. Overpriced ordinary but I did like the quirky bag.
I loved the colour of Sophie's coat but not the style. Poor James Severn was frozen. Buy the lad a coat fgs.
Lady Louisa is the image of her great great? grand aunt.
The Queen is soo like Princess Mary.
I didn't like Beatrice or Autumn's style. Eugenie's was ok.
Poor Fergie- her parents are dead, her only sister is in Australia, her daughters are with Andrew. What does she do on Christmas Day ?Sad
Paradyning I hope you are ok - you mentioned on the last thread you were in hospital.
The speculation re Kate going for a fourth child Shock eek
Though I did wonder why Laetizia stopped at two - when it's none of my business.
Isn't Maxima great- always smiling- a breath of fresh air. There are people like that in real life who are so full of joie de vivre, warm and welcoming.
Queen I liked your nails on that other thread.

Clionba · 26/12/2018 10:17

Those photos of Princess Mary! The Queen definitely takes after her. HM is very much Teck-Hanover rather than Bowes-Lyon!

mikado1 · 26/12/2018 10:18

I know people are fans of HM but the replies to this tweet are funny/very true twitter.com/LBC/status/1077144555198271488?s=19

DontCallMeCharlotte · 26/12/2018 10:27

Looking forward to the Danish New Year Court. They know how to cheer up a dark midwinter night.

Clionba · 26/12/2018 10:33

mikado1 I don't think those replies are funny at all. You can be against the monarchy without being vitriolic, and to blame a little girl for innocently joining the antics of her uncle seems very cruel.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/12/2018 10:37

Those Nazi salute photos were a storm in a teacup. It seemed perfectly clear to me that they were all poking fun at Hitler & Co.

OP posts:
mikado1 · 26/12/2018 10:37

Haven't read them all Clionba, didn't see that and obviously that wasn't her fault. I did smile at 'Yes who doesn't have a gold piano?'

Paradyning · 26/12/2018 10:48

Meghan's necklace has been id'd as Jennifer Meyer

2019Mummy · 26/12/2018 10:59

The Cambridge environmental impact is already huge, another child and environment pontificating William will become a laughing stock.

beanaseireann · 26/12/2018 11:01

Is it the 3 diamond mini bezel dangle necklace ?

PawneeParksDept · 26/12/2018 11:07

Strolls In awaiting the Fail froth over either James Severn seen shooting

OR

HARRY'S WAR WITH MEG AS HE DECLARES HE WILL SHOOT

ElspethFlashman · 26/12/2018 11:08

Fuck me but she wears expensive jewellery. Jennifer Meyer costs a bomb for fuck all.

Her jewellery collection must be over 100,000 at this stage, with just the "small" items alone.

That's not something I am particularly comfortable with, tbh. It's over consumption. The frocks? OK, it's basically a costume and there are protocols. But theres Kate with her one new pair of Kiki's per year and Sophie bless her with her Heavenly Whatsit fakes, and there's Megan with 2/3 grands worth of new tiny gold things at every single engagement.

She's not meant to get anything for free, so she's paying for all of it and it's INSANE to pay so much in one year for tiny wee goldy things. Especially the majority of that money is going to Canada or the US.

It really makes me uncomfortable, I have to say.

Paradyning · 26/12/2018 11:09

It looks turquoise necklace

Spudlet · 26/12/2018 11:14

I think my favourite outfit was Megan's green leather skirt and silk shirt combo. Great colour on her and a good level of smart for the occasion, I thought.

Royal style and gossip: new year, new thread
CoverYourEarsTeam · 26/12/2018 11:19

Yes, @Harebellmeadow ... "Kate pink" at Eugenie's wedding and "Meghan green" in that amazing outfit (leather skirt, forest green top, orange-y heels) she wore to Dublin. They're my faves anyway.

UrsulaPandress · 26/12/2018 11:20

I don’t think Kate will have a fourth.
And the spending makes me uncomfortable too. I’ve all the time in the world for MM but really that is not how things are done.

CoverYourEarsTeam · 26/12/2018 11:21

Hah @Spudlet ... crossbody! That's the one I meant - awesome outfit
