Previous thread.

And let's stick to critiquing the outfits rather than the wearer!

Do we think they’ll keep them all home until they’re 13 rather than sending the boys to board at 8 like William and Harry?

evilharpy · 26/12/2018 09:28

Thanks for the new thread!

I saw some video footage of them all walking to church yesterday and Zara could hardly walk in her heels. God love her.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/12/2018 09:30

@CurlyWurlyTwirly The Stella dress was one of m faves too but I thought it was from last year so didn't include it!

In terms of clothes, Kate didn’t do a huge amount of evening wear. The state gowns were a bit of a disappointment. Although it was only a tiny glimpse, I loved the colour and accessories of what she wore to Charles 70th.

Her remberance day outfit was severe but the tailoring was sharp and suited her maturity and confidence as a RF matriarch to be.

Finally the Raspberry McQueen she wore to Eugenie’s wedding.
She really suited a bold colour, and the combo of a Jane Taylor hat and the McQueen dress sums up her style without being a coat dress!

Remember Kate is one of 3. So I imagine that's her comfy number.

Imagine knowing you're never gonna have HG again! That'd put a spring in anyones step.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/12/2018 09:32

I forgot the Stella was last year. But she did wear it in Oz, so perhaps we can allow it?!

ElspethFlashman · 26/12/2018 09:34

evilharpy I thought the same about Sophie. She was seriously trudging. Maybe they always walk in heels like that but we just never see them in motion! 😂😂😂

frugalkitty · 26/12/2018 09:34

I agree with Queen in that I don't like overly classic outfits, I like a bit of a twist on thing too. So for me, while Kate wears some lovely outfits I can't get excited by them as they're too formal for me. Her best outfit for me this year was the tweed Erdem.

I'm not sure I have a favourite Meghan outfit, she's worn lots that I like because her style is much more me (and I wear a lot of navy). I might ponder a bit longer on that one......

FATEdestiny · 26/12/2018 09:34

I really loved HMQ outfit at church yesterday. And much as everyone berates coat dresses, I like them and would wear them (but then, I am a conservative dressing 40-something)

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/12/2018 09:36

Re the wedding dresses, I thought each bride chose one that suited them perfectly. Eugenie's style of dress would've swamped Meghan and Meghan's dress would've been very unflattering on Eugenie. Same with the tiaras - Eugenie's stronger facial features meant she could carry off a bold tiara and Meghan's went beautifully with her veil.

Overall Meghan's was more my style as I love a proper French haute couture silhouette and it was the perfect foil for that intricate veil.

I don’t know about spacing...she and her siblings are close together and she has never waited too long until the next. Also isn’t she 36? I wouldn’t be surprised if she does try for a baby this year because most likely that would mean a birth in 2020 and a two year gap. I wouldn’t see the logic in waiting when having them close seems to be Catherine and Will’s preference and what she is familiar with personally.

I think we all completely empathize with and understand her wanting to enjoy her baby without feeling dreadful with severe sickness; But it’s only a few months now and Louis will be one, so she has had a chance to recover and of course can get as much help as she wants whenever she wants! If she wants another I could see her wanting to get on with it so her pregnancy years are over by the time she is 38 say.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/12/2018 09:39

It's just Kate and Pippa who are close in age. I think James is about 4 years younger than Pippa.

@Idabwells, i excluded wedding dresses from the roundup because they are too fabulous. ( I will admit my favourite was Meghan’s evening Stella McCartney)

@princessbear80
That Givenchy knit two piece was fabulous despite the see through bit.
I hope Meghan has it lined and wears it again after the baby.

IdaBWells · 26/12/2018 09:43

I agree Queen that Meghan’s dress was more to my personal taste but when it comes to wedding dresses I was thinking about which dress was most successful according to the desires and personal style of the bride. Eugenie’s dress was something I would never personally chose but it was perfect for her, especially with the tiara. Of course her best accessory was her radiant happiness! Flowers.

In terms of wedding evening dresses Meghan’s was flawless and should be on the list of best looks of 2018 IMO.

My own dress was Jasper Conran to give you an idea.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 26/12/2018 09:43

Forgot to say I loved the Queen’s outfit yesterday. Thought she looked fab!

Also for all those people complaining that H&M are always holding hands, I noticed Eugenie & Jack & Peter & Autumn holding hands! The couples obviously not the group Xmas Wink

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/12/2018 09:45

I also want to include Lady Sarah Chatto at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.
Lady Sarah and her family didn’t go to Sandringham this year.
I think as the Queen acquires more great grand children; there is not enough space for nieces and great nephews!

Ex-posted Curly! But is there anyone, anywhere who doesn’t love that divine Stella Mc gown? Such a James Bond moment when they swept into the car! Fab!

IdaBWells · 26/12/2018 09:49

Sarah is really channeling her mum there is terms of the spirit of that outfit, very feminine but with a hint of rebelliousness/creativity.

frugalkitty · 26/12/2018 09:49

Ok, I've had a ponder and think these two are my favourite Meghan outfits (hard to choose though, I also like the berry dress from the Oz tour, the black trouser suits and more....) My main criticism of her wardrobe is the fit, so often she's worn lovely dresses but they just don't fit quite right so wrinkle (not pregnancy related, from before then) which isn't her fault, but given how expense her clothes are, I think they should fit her better.

My take on Kate having number four.....I think Louis is her baby, my number three was mine and I think she'll stop now. I had a DS and a DD everyone thought I was mad having a third, but like Kate I'm one of three so two felt odd. DS2 completed us, and if I'd had more I'd have gone for five, because to me an even number of kids doesn't feel right can't blame that on the Xmas gin it's too early Hard to explain. Anyway, I could see them having more as they don't have to worry about affording them, but given how ill Kate is in pregnancy, plus her age, plus how she's looked after having Louis I think they're stopping at three.

Poof George!

My phone is running out of battery so I won’t post pics or links but my DRESS OF THE YEAR has to be Eugenie’s wedding dress as it revealed what a lovely figure she has (when it isn’t squashed into clothes and coats which don’t suit her ahem Christmas Day coughs) and the joy and love which radiated our of her face was utterly adorable.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/12/2018 09:52

I preferred lady Sarah's navy outfit at h&ms wedding but can't find a photo of it online.

And while we're talking wedding dresses, hers is still one of my all-time favourites!

Rhubarbisevil · 26/12/2018 09:54

Oops... poor George!

Back to HC - that is so funny as there are mums at my son’s prep school who wear the coats/hats and they are Destination Eton mums Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/12/2018 09:57

I think fit, has been a long standing issue for Meghan when she has bought off the peg. We have discussed it a lot on this thread; she is so slim, but her proportions; very long legs and short torso mean that dresses, unless couture do not seem to sit right; separates work better for her.
She has stuck to her guns in terms of palette: black and navy and I think a year in, we are used to it.

Harebellmeadow · 26/12/2018 09:58

The pink McQueen on Kate was so stunning. I think of the raspberry colour as “Kate Pink” because it suits her so well. “Meghan Green” also suits her very well though too.

TipseyTorvey · 26/12/2018 10:00

Slightly off topic again but just looking at the newspaper covers today and almost every single one is a pic of Kate and Meghan. All positive save The Sun of course who claims they were 'ordered to have a truce'. How can they get away with making such shite up BBC News - Newspaper headlines: Kate and Meghan display 'peace and goodwill'
