I have tonnes of gifted stuff to get through (in spite of getting rid of loads last year) plus my Rituals Advent calendar. I also just signed up for Beauty Pie so will do the 3 months of it. Joining you all!

Jacksback · 30/12/2018 17:35

Ponks · 30/12/2018 17:47

Hello all! Another with good intentions to use up before buying new. Let's see how long that lasts eh.
Today finished a 5ml sample of Kiehls glow hydrator. Actually really liked this, delivered on the promised glow and looked good under light foundation. Won't repurchase as trying to concentrate on cruelty free brands in 2019. Also have a similar No7 glow cream to use up anyway!

tinyradish · 30/12/2018 19:17

14 by valentines - great idea! Reckon I can do that too. Will have to have a look at my stash.

I've been really good over the last year or so with not buying things until I've used everything else up & the sheer amount of products I have has reduced dramatically. After Christmas though I seem to have a whole lot of body products again. No problem though - just means I don't have to buy any for the year!

I have a got a £75 lush voucher though so excited to get shopping with that. Any recommendations welcome :) (must be safe for pregnancy.)

ememem84 · 30/12/2018 20:05

  • ysl burgundy mascara
  • body shop felt tip eyeliner
  • hand cream on my desk at work
  • bare minerals foundation
  • micellar water
  • Lee Stafford poker straight shampoo
-Lee Stafford poker straight conditioner
  • soap n glory face soap and clarity bit c face wash (have been using this since April....huge bottle)
ememem84 · 30/12/2018 20:06

DOes anyone know about essential oils and pregnancy? Dm bought me some sleep roller balls for Christmas (bought before we found out) I haven’t used them and won’t if hnsafe but can they really harm baby if I wasn’t to just breathe them in? I think most are lavender based.

WellTidy · 30/12/2018 23:33

I’ve sought this thread out, having dipped in and out of previous threads over the last few years. Nice to see so many recognisable names! Glad everyone is still enjoying products! I did an audit of my products today, and the results are shameful. I didn’t get past toiletries, so face products and make up still to go. They will wait until I am feeling less guilty about the hoarding and expense.

I have enough shower gel, shower oil, shower mousse and bath foam to last me at least 18 months, and enough body cream/moisturiser to last me for three years (ahem!) and even that estimate is assuming I use it once every two days all over. It gets worse. I have 13 hand creams. All brand new. I have consigned my nine soaps to beside the sinks and will abandon liquid soap to try and just get through them.

I am a lost cause! I am going to work through as many as I can, and just have one of each on the go. I can report on some empties as I have made a real effort tonight:

Maskeraide face mask sheet (nice, was in my stocking, it would not buy again as I have others to try)
Sachet of a L’Oréal scalp exfoliator
Joico hair treatment

Alicatz66 · 31/12/2018 11:24

ememem84. ... Lord .. I have the bloody Face Soap and Clarity facewash ... I got it in the big Soap and Glory box last Christmas. Im a year in and there's a quarter left !!! It's in the shower and I'm getting DP to use it as well now ! I actually like it but wouldn't buy it again due to its enormity!!!!

ememem84 · 31/12/2018 11:58

It’s good isn’t it alicatz but god it goes on...!

That said given it lasts for ages I’d probably buy again as it’s worth the money iyswim.

I’m lining up a simple one to use next. Probably in a years time....

HalloumiGus · 31/12/2018 12:44

I've started the audit and it isn't too bad mostly because I filled a massive bag for the bin and charity shop last year! The trouble is I never use any of it. So I'm going to start using body lotion on my winter scaly lizard legs every evening to see if it makes much difference. Ditto foot cream a couple of times a week - I have several. Also have hand creams which I don't really need but will keep one by each sink and use one at bedtime.

HalloumiGus · 31/12/2018 14:50

Well inspired by this thread I just went mad during / after my shower and used loads of my Rituals advent calendar. Used the 'Sakura' shampoo / rice scrub / body cream with the Karma shower foam and the Namaste face wash and ampoule of hydrating oil. Face wash lovely though not impressed with the hydrating thingy. Also used a random Champneys foot cream I won in a raffle which is very minty and smells good enough to eat. But my god it takes forever using all that stuff. Still, New Year's Eve. Going to use my Beauty Pie moisturiser and some Rituals hand cream.

Experiment627 · 31/12/2018 21:42

Welcome newbies!!!

@tinyradish I love the Grace serum from Lush plus the Bubblegum lip scrub.

@ememem84 probably best to steer clear although breathing in seems much more benign than applying to the skin

I may have bought some new nail polish

Thanks experiment that was my thinking. I may take to my midwife next time I see her though. It’s such a thoughtful gift from Dm. I’d told her how tired I was and how I was having sleep issues. She bought the oil roller things, a new eye mask, some bedtime tea, some nice pjs and two silk pillow cases. Apparently it’s good for the skin. So thoughtful.

IPokeBadgers · 01/01/2019 11:08

Finished off another perfume sample.... One of the wee 1.2ml sprays of Chloe Nomade. I really really like this but am on a no buy where perfume is concerned and I'm not sure how well this one lasts on me anyway, even though I love it not sure if it would be a good buy.

Somebody upthread mentioned an audit....I did one at the end of last year of toiletries, skincare and makeup and filled a notebook! It's been helpful in making me face up to just how much I have, and i have been ticking things off as I finish them....but still havent got around to listing all the perfumes I own, which I should do.

Also used one of the garnier moisture sheet masks I had I. The stash....I have really mixed feelings about sheet masks. Not sure I enjoy the sensation of using them, and not convinced of benefits. Plus this one seemed to break out a couple of spots on the chin after using it, so wondering if it actually doesn't suit my skin. Have another couple ofmasks in the stash but probably won't repurchase when done.

CantChoose · 01/01/2019 13:07

I’ve finished a monu facial oil. I quite like the scent and have been using it as an overnight moisturiser, especially as my usual oily skin has been a lot drier in pregnancy. I’ve got another beauty box size of it in the stash and it lasts ages so very much doubt I’ll be buying it!

Experiment627 · 01/01/2019 17:23

Lovely gift @ememem84 😍

I have an empty:

  • Pamper Me mini bath truffles "Baby Powder": loved the smell

LivingDeadGirlUK · 01/01/2019 17:39

What a wonderful thread, I am quite a horder although dont buy much these days. Its very satisfying finishing a product isn't it! I am about to fimish my fav moisturiser and have promised myself I will use up some samples before buying any more.

Ponks · 01/01/2019 21:41

Finished a tube of Ameliorate transforming body lotion , love this stuff, has done wonders for my upper arms ( the orange peel skin effect) and I'm starting to use it on my thighs. Already have a replacement!

Also finished tiny bottle of Lancôme Tresor Nuit. Meh.

BigStripeyBastard · 01/01/2019 22:48

Ok..... well I've clearly not bloody learnt over the two years plus I have been on these threads.
A couple of advent calendars, two Glossy Boxes and several Clarins GWP offers that I really didnt need and I feel I am back to square one.
I will not buy any more until I am absolutely out of something.
😣

Oh i so need to do this! I have a quite large lets say collection growing thanks to birchbox gifts and slight spending sprees.
Really need to actually start using some of it.
Going to arrange it all later and take stock.
If im not back this evening send a search party Grin

HalloumiGus · 02/01/2019 10:13

I used my new Beauty Pie stuff last night and was pleasantly surprised. Skin felt very smooth after use and looked quite glowy but unfortunately also quite red due to rosacea. Need to clean up my diet after Christmas excess and hopefully start bringing it under control again.

Experiment627 · 02/01/2019 10:46

Welcome newbies!!! So nice to have so many join the thread!!!

I think I have been on this thread (or one of the the previous many) for about 4 years... I am probably in worse place than ever 😂😂😂 BUT I DON'T CARE!!!! I get so much joy from buying, using and then listing use of beauty products!!!
😍😍😍😍😍

@BigStripeyBastard may I say your stash is a thing of beauty?

I have an empty:

  • Clinique moisture surge 72 hour auto-replenshing hydrator 7ml: I actually really liked this - I am not usually a Clinique fan
OP posts:
LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/01/2019 11:44

I finished the simple shower gel I bought when my son was born. I dont have sensitive skin and found the lack of fragrence boring so would not buy again.

Started on a small clarins 'Relax' bath and shower concentrate. lovely lather but not a great smell, pondering if its been in the cupboard too long as cant remember when I got it!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 02/01/2019 15:37

Finished a Dove deodorant - not the most exciting and an item I keep repurchasing, but it's a good one and it smells quite nice.

WellTidy · 02/01/2019 16:38

Using up some sachets at the moment so that I feel that i have some empties to report!

Clinique dramatically different moisturiser gel - I loved this, having not used Clinique for years
Maskeraide sheet mask - also loved this, but will not repurchase as I have so many others
Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum 7ml - a staple for me, but I got the Libert advent calendar this year which has a Dr Sebagh serum so I will not repurchase the ANR

To re-emphasise that I am a lost cause, I said yes to the lady giving out samples of my favourite moisturiser (despite me having three years’ worth of body moisturiser in my stash), so I now have three years and a week’s worth!
