I've just tried to upload another 3 pics but can't as message says limit is 6 per day- I've only uploaded 3 *@MNHQ what's going on?

Will try again

BerniceBobsHerHair · 07/01/2019 09:25

Me again Grin

Thanks for the wishes of rest Fedup - DS is napping but I am not sure if I will get the chance to rest today.

Thought I would update about best and worst purchases of 2018 as I enjoyed reading all of yours.

There are quite a few things I haven't worn but sometimes I like to hoard things to wear later. Anyway, good purchases:
These tops from people tree - I have the purple and grey, lovely material and a useful basic
These culottes from Cos - always gather positive comments!
And the cropped M&S jeans I keep banging on about.
Also - final thing - a Whistles peacoat which is 80% wool which I found in the charity shop.

I always look for coats second hand as you can get a good wool content for less £££.

I also bought a few dresses from Kemi Telford - as some of you know I love African prints!

Fails are usually anything bought on eBay and also a straw basket which promptly broke the first time I used it - it was from HOF and during the dodgy time with the takeover so I couldn't return it either.

Hope Blair and Everyone are good, haven't seen you on here for a while.

FedupNagging · 07/01/2019 12:59

Try again

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2019 13:07

Fedup how’s it going? Grin

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2019 13:13

Bernice love your sales buys, they’ll look great on you

I don’t know yet! I could do a freelance spree but would need a short term nanny. I don’t quite feel ready to do permanent. I could do stuff at home but somewhat lack the impetus. I think I’m more worried about future ability to work than starting now. So want to reduce the likelihood of that happening by having something on my cv. How about you? What are you thinking

Yes I was also thinking about Blair and Everyone - Blair how was babyblair’s first Christmas?

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2019 13:14

Haven’t looked at dresses yet but love Sandra Oh’s dress. So great she hosted she was brilliant in Eve

FedupNagging · 07/01/2019 13:37

Modern technology and I have a very shaky relationship Mara Hmm - drives ds round the bend Grin

Having a quiet coffee in the corner of a local cafe so will try again when home - actually probably better if I just leave it!

FedupNagging · 07/01/2019 13:38

That should read Marsha not Mara need a lie down in a dark room

MarshaBradyo · 07/01/2019 13:39

Ha I was sensing your exasperation, am sending soothing vibes to you Grin

Queenchanel · 07/01/2019 20:57

Oh my effing god. A whole day with no internet. And an inset day. It’s been a loooong day and I’m so glad to be back online!!

bernive are you coming in March? Will be great to see you again. Love the colour of that purple people tree tee. Also love the Sandro bag.

Queenchanel · 07/01/2019 21:08

Ha I just thought Dry too although you look good in white

shopafrolic · 07/01/2019 22:56

That’s Janelle Monae Queen she is an amazing singer. Album is Dirty Computer (I think). Look for That’s Just The Way You Make Me Feel on YouTube.

Love, love that song Shop it’s one we request on repeat to dance to in the kitchen

Anyone watch Brexit on 4? Still watching, it’s absolutely brilliant

FedupNagging · 07/01/2019 23:20

Love the song and just watched the youtube video of her performance on the late show - not many people could rock silver leggings like that (or dance moves!) I thought I recognised her - she was in the film Hidden Figures.

I've just finished reading a tedious pullitzer prize winning book and now don't feel tired weirdly so faffing about about on mumsnet.

shopafrolic · 08/01/2019 07:52

Yay Marsha one of my faves too - I love the Prince vibe.
Prince's DJ Lenka said ""Roughly 2 and a half years ago I played this little party for Prince, and at one point he goes: Stop the music, I wanna play something...'"
"He opens his computer and plays a groove. Then this heavy synth hits and my 2 friends and I go simultaneously 'oh shit!', he heard us and laughed. It was futuristic and so good."
"Last night I heard Janelle Monae's new song. As soon as the synth came in I went 'oh shit! That's it!' He gave that to her... this song is brilliant. Prince's genius continues to amaze me. I miss him."
I am such a huge Prince fan so I love this :)

The PYNK video is also beyond epic Grin although it might give Dry a heart attack.

Morning Voguettes,

Welcome to newbies 👋

Am on day 3 of shred, so far am really enjoying. Getting up 30 mins earlier than usual and doing before work is good.

Not sure about most of the GGs looks but did love Sandra Oh & Jodie Comer.

Marsha looks good, will watch with dh tonight

Bernice gorgeous print on the Kemi Telford

Ootd is camo silk equipment shirt with white co oatmeal cashmere jumper, indigo skinnies and choo biker boots.

libertyonhertravels · 08/01/2019 10:29

Big catch up..

Stokey exciting news about the extension! We have builders arriving week after next (about 5 days before my Mum arrives – which isn’t great but we have had to wait months if we turned down this slot in their schedule). First stage of work is getting the current laundry and storage area knocked through to create one big laundry and a downstairs loo. Walls have to be lined / insulated and new floor and changes to drainage etc – we can moan about dust, noise and inconvenience together!

Viva using Pixi Glow glycolic acid toner has been a game changer for my open pores. Some facials sound great just for the feeling of relaxing and being looked after which you probably need right now Flowers

Blingy with reference to your lattes – I have decided to just give them up apart from one ‘treat’ latte at the weekend – just having long black coffee with a splash of milk. Feels like it’s making a difference already. Also I’m using an Aeropress to make my coffee at work – makes a really good coffee and saving me a fortune. I had crept into the habit of spending $10 -$15 a day on coffees at the work canteen which is not good.

Kitty any update on the job situation?

Welcome Eesha. I’d love that batwing jumper in the kakhi shade – sadly no New Look in NZ!

Topaz it’s lovely to have you back. You’ve been missed. I can’t believe it’s been six years since you bought that coat for DD. Waxing it for her is proper Irish Mammy stuff – love it Smile. Would be amazing to see you in July if you can make it.

While on the topic of a July MU I am so chuffed that so many of you are potentially going to be there – I really cannot wait to see everyone again. Will have to do a speed dating style circuit around the table to make sure I get a chat in with everyone.

Welcome back littlered!

Justa great purchases – you have me thinking about NK loafers again – I struggle with splurging on shoes but they are so lovely.

Mara well done on keeping going with the Shred! I’m getting out for a walk or run every day and taking breaks from my desk to run up and down the stairs at work. Also aiming to do 150 reps of a combination of squats, lunges, press ups and tricep dips a day at work – I have my own office so easy to just stand up and do 10 squats between emails. The Rixo skirt is fab – are you going to get it?

Fairy apologies I never replied to your pm from ages ago but I really appreciated the advice. I hear you on ankle ties, love how they look on others but always feel anything like that makes me look stumpy.

Fedup how did you get on with the pleated skirt?

Bernice the Sandro bag is lush – hope you can find it. Love the Marc Jacobs too. The Kemi Telford skirts are great.

Phew monster post – big hugs to everyone.

Everyonelovessparkles · 08/01/2019 12:39

Happy new year everyone!

I’ve been reading but was away last week so not much time to post.

Sorry to hear about the marital woes of many of us. My own marriage has been a bit up and down this last year too. I also know several people who called it a day last year. I think it must be something about our age (I think we are all a similar age?) and reassessing what we want / will put up with. Hopefully 2019 will see things improve.

My best buys of 2018 were the infamous dune slides that fedup also mentioned. I wore them nearly every day, my white company cashmere joggers (sooooo cosy) and my regatta waterproof coat - practical but relatively smart.
Worst buys were the Rae feather ugg slippers, the personalisation paint cracked within days and I’ve had to glue the sole back on several times. Also the chinti and Parker cashmere joggers. These buys taught me an (expensive) but valuable lesson to not be swayed by instagram! The Rae feather beach basket (BBB Grin) was almost a duff purchase but came good in the end!

Haven’t bought anything in the sales as don’t really need anything. Instead I am just buying stuff for DD! I got her this coat of my childhood dreams , and adult dreams, which initially she loved and ripped the tag off, but now won’t wear as she said she looks weird in it Hmm but can’t return as she ripped the tag off.....

Hopefully i’ll Remember everything you have all said...

Your holiday sounded fab Marsha. Hope DD had a nice birthday.

Gorgeous bracelet blingy. Did you look in some handbags for the missing item, as I remember something you misplaced before was inside a random bag? Or do you think someone might have taken it?

Well done mara on the shred. I need to start a fitness regime this year. DS is still waking in the night so I just can’t face getting up earlier but am thinking of joining a gym and making time for exercise. I think dedicating some time for myself will make me feel better about myself.

I like your hair dream. If it’s a practical length for you then maybe keep the style?

Great to hear from you lib! Good luck with the building works Gin.

Hope your work situation improves this year stokey.

Welcome to the newbies!

Hope your DS is feeling better bernice.

Fab bag justa! A real timeless piece. Glad you are thrilled with it!

Waves to everyone else!

DryWhiteagainW · 09/01/2019 07:44

I’ve only skimmed (will read more carefully later)...
Grin QueenC must have been the pre award drinks, I looked bloody awful although still managed to show my shoulders. Had to read your post a few times to get your meaning btw!!

Bernice I have that MJ bag but the bigger one I think. And I go away in August...you know me, I plan my wardrobe waaaaayyyyy in advance (sale purchases are swimming costume, maxi dress, sarong, espadrilles....imagine the luggage by then Grin )!!!!

DryWhiteagainW · 09/01/2019 07:45

P.s so happy to be back in my smart, structured work wear and out of jeans....feels great

MarshaBradyo · 09/01/2019 07:50

Everyone we are the same I just did a big order for dd. I can’t help it the clothes are so cute

I love that coat, was she delighted?
