Last time I was in French Connection I was Shock at prices for a brand that I thought was similar to TS and River Island.

I agree on upper end High St prices, especially if you buy stuff in the sales whic I do a lot

Thanks for dress comments. I haven’t found it but think I might do an order for other stuff

Lovely dresses Everyone and Lib

Totally agree with the price of things. There’s a couple of dresses I like but there’s no way I’m paying full price as they’re both imo over priced. I think brands have so many sales and 20% off deals that theyve marked everything up.

Lovely dress lib but does seem an expense if you need to return.

I think the navy cords are going back. Just not versatile enough sadly.

Oh I liked those QueenC thought they suited your style a lot, but send back if they’re not right atm

I pretty much avoid paying full price if I can

Love that me &em skirt, wonder if it is too casual for work?

And great dress buys Everone.

Agree about over-priced. Hush has definitely been a victim of its own success, worsening quality as increasing prices. And Whistles has always been expensive for their fabrics. Agreed with what Trinny said on the Massimo Dutti video, there good value as their fabrics are good quality. Like Cos for that too although their style doesn't do much for me.

Glad the skirt is a keeper shop. You are right, it is hard to vary what we wear when every day is similar! I find that particularly so in winter. In summer I wear a lot of dresses and because they are all different it does feel varied, whereas in winter, jeans and a jumper or skirt and a jumper just feels more samey.

I agree queenc that discounting has become so common, that I think retailers add a ‘buffer’ to the full price, so that people think they are getting a bargain. I rarely buy anything full price now, as know there will always be a promotion coming up.

What kind of shoes to people wear in winter? I want some smart / going out shoes, with a mid heel height, open to suggestions on colour, but I’m not getting much inspiration....

Everyone I usually just wear boots - usually the Ash jalouse kind of style. Also have these from SE.

I sent the Boden dress back - it was a nice dress in a good fabric but did nothing for me style wise.

I love that skirt too Shop, one to put on the wishlist. I've also got another Me and em skirt that you have, this one. Baaa!

I've got some vit C serum from the Ordinary but haven't used it yet - can you use it along with glycolic acid or best to just use it on its own (as the only acid)?

I loved the cords for you too QueenC - could you not just wear them instead of jeans? They look like they would go with most tops / shoes.

Hello Blair - how are you and DS doing? I found out his name at the MU btw, very nice choice.

I bought some straight leg, high waisted ankle length bit of a mouthful jeans from M&S recently and I really like them - they seem to go with everything. They were from limited collection range but not on line anymore, might still be in the shops.

Also river island do a straight leg - Bella - which I quite liked but came up a bit short on my leg.

One wow that is soon to be moving back. How are you feeling about it?

That is a lovely dress Lib though I always feel a bit nervous of 100% silk. You would definitely suit that APC top / dress Kitty and Mara were wearing.

I like your dress too Marsha but not very helpful comment as it is sold out. Is it worth stalking the site for returns?

I always wear boots too Everyone. Normally some mad Stories ones.

Like that skirt too Bernice, only left in a 6 though, no chance!

On reflection have kept the Boden Cambridge jeans. They're very reasonable and figure they'll do until I can do a proper trying on sesh.

I need a new winter coat this year but no idea what it will look like. Got a couple of faux furs (leopard & black) but need something smart for work, just the kind of thing I struggle with.

Anyone opted for an advent calendar yet? Just been reading the thread (at home under the weather, great time for catching up on MN) and think the Fenwicks one looks good value. Thinking about getting one for my mum too, but would need to focus on skin care rather than makeup.

I'm not quite sure how i feel about it tbh bernice everything's moved so fast over the last couple of weeks that i feel a bit like my head is only just slowing down from the spin it has been in!

Managed to find another bin bag of clothes to donate to the charity shop, figured i'd sort through one last time before i started packing as no sense moving anything i either don't wear or doesn't fit. Meant an evening of trying on but that is done now, just got to get dp to take them in

I don’t have that one Bernice must be another Voguette. I have some casual trousers from them, the maxi and a couple of accessories. I used to have the khaki maxi dress which I loved but that went to someone else on thread years back after my colours got redone.

Thanks for the cords love. If I wore knitwear then I’d keep them but I mainly wear blouses and they don’t really go with them so at £71 I’d be better off spending my money on something else.

everyone I have grey suede boots or wear scrappy block heeled shoes (I have burgundy velvet, navy velvet, sequins or black patent!).

stokey I think I’m going to stick with the m&s one if they do it again.

HAs anyone seen or got this book. Thinking of putting it on my birthday list

shop I don’t know if you get the times but I’m case you don’t I’ve emailed her article from today’s magazine.

I need a book called how not to wear navy Grin. I wore a purple blouse the other day and felt out of my comfort zone. I’m happy with coloured accessories but when it comes to clothes especially in winter I tend to shy away from colour.

Stokey I have had the M & S calendar the last 2 years and really like it, I also got their summer beauty box which was good. I'll definitely get one from somewhere as really enjoy opening it every day.
I agree high street prices seem to have gone up, I love Whistles but tend to stick with buying in the sale now otherwise it's ridiculous.
My quest for a new sweatshirt begins this Hushh* Star one arrived yesterday. My Stories order is due Monday so will hold fire on making a decision as I've got 2 others in there, this one is lovely and soft but think I might prefer something brighter than grey.
Enjoy your Saturdays everyone.
