The sunshine might be fading from our passion fruit punch but we're looking forward to what autumn will bring.

I'm going to try to catch up properly, later as the mn app hasn't been letting me post.

Anyway, I bought a Bronte by Moon merino scarf from Brandalley in this blue/green colourway. I was also tempted by a lovely grey/red tartan. The price is good, but I'll have to wait 2 weeks for delivery. I'm not sure if the sale is still on, as I couldn't post yesterday.

I'll try to catch up with everyone now Smile.

Peregrane that is so funny, very pretentious Grin. Although, I have to say that Toast sometimes put some right old twaddle on their catalogues too.

Perhaps they both think they are Yoga retreats?

Hi. Just got in from NYC. Pattie was amazing. As always. Wonderful, warm, woman.

Thanks for all the dress love.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/09/2018 00:29

And whoever liked my hair colour. I'm with Patti. But not quite.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/09/2018 01:05

And so much loveliness Flo

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/09/2018 01:06

And Bo

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/09/2018 05:41

And thanks for the dangerous links Bo, I've just spent a fortune on underwear from YSE.

quirkychick · 29/09/2018 07:57

I liked your hair colour, Hairy Smile. Not at all jealous about Patti, or no Envy.

Floisme · 29/09/2018 08:02

I’m a Toast fan but I cannot stand their faux spiritual vibe.

Glad you’re having a good time Hairy and that Patti is on good form.

bo they didn’t have those shoes in M&S I’m afraid.
But for any cord fans they did have some wide legs in that thick jumbo cord that looked promising. I can’t do links at the moment but I’ll post one latet.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 29/09/2018 08:24

I have to say Patti was amazing. The Minetta Lane theatre is only about 280 people. It was very intimate (And she waved at ME, and I shouted 'I fucking love you Patti' like a tragic fan-girl).

And as this is a fash sub-forum. She obviously looked exactly like Patti Smith. So fucking stylish in stovepipes, boots, blazer and hair.

Floisme · 29/09/2018 08:49

I think she looks great in real life - photos don’t do her justice at all.

Floisme · 29/09/2018 08:52

When I last saw her she told this long, involved story about going to buy a T shirt and all I can say is, she’s as fussy about her clothes as we are!

quirkychick · 29/09/2018 15:49

Is it Anne Demeulemeester that Patti Smith is a friend with/fan of? I'm sure I read it in an interview not a fangirl me oh no

botemp · 30/09/2018 10:04

Yes, they're friends Envy as if they weren't the epitome of cool all by themselves, they have the coolest longstanding friendships too Envy

Back to uncool moimoimoi, Yoox order with boots and hat came in. Hat is an odd mustard colour that's hard to work as a neutral but I do like the western feel so will keep looking out for something similar. Boots are the rimpleforeskin types with way too much room in the calves but they have made me question the Aquazzuras more, which I was already on the fence about, as they're slightly taller and I really do prefer the look of that. So the Aquazzuras will be going back too, at the top end of my budget they need to feel more right than just okay, they're also quite delicate with thin soles and a leather heel, I don't want to be babying boots. I'm burying my search for any others for now as well, it'll have to be a chance upon the perfect pair scenario from now on.

Not giving up on boots though, there was a 20% offer yesterday on the Aeyde shoes and noticed they had the same model as the grey courts in a black knee high boot so have ordered both. I'm wondering how highly polished they are, I quite like the sculptural feel of them, although they do have stitching right down the centre which I usually hate on boots but they seem to work with the design rather than being an economic decision.

Also ordered some Ganni lookalikes in burgundy from Zara, except they come up higher and tighter which works well for me as my issue with the Gannis is that they're not fitted around the leg enough and cut off my leg at an unfortunate point.

YSE underwear is lovely, Hairy, I've been meaning to have a look again as they've expanded their sizes beyond a C cup recently.

quirky, I'm sorry I had to abandon reading the toast manifesto, I'd like to blame the tiny difficult to read script on my phone but it was ALL the drivel...

Sorry for barging in but there are few things I enjoy more than an English country market town charity shop.

Sorry, forgot to rotate the label Blush

quirkychick · 30/09/2018 12:02

Omg, flo that's gorgeous!!!!

Don't apologise, bo, I never read the toast drivel. Grin

botemp · 30/09/2018 12:08

Flo, I am very EnvyEnvyEnvy

quirky, I am left wondering who is making a fortune out of this yoga retreat speak, it honestly can't be that hard.

Flo that skirt! Envy What a find!

bo those boots look badass. They also make me go “please don’t kick me with those!” inside 🙃

The ox gall soap worked like magic!! 🤸🏻‍♂️🎉 No trace of the stain left whatsoever. Thank you bo, this ranks at least as high as the shirt sleeves rolled back over the jacket trick! Seriously, I am no wannabe domestic goddess but this is such useful knowledge (and, to me, very much in the spirit of the thread, as keeping a well curated wardrobe surely works better with some maintenance skills. Not to mention the stained clothes generated by the men I live with... I’ll be teaching the DS how to look after their clothes as soon as they are old enough to handle these substances).

Xing I have looked up Andia Fora and while I get what you mean about them being a bit Marmite, I saw a pair I liked enough - unfortunately not in my size.

Jon that is a brilliant tip, I’ll definitely try to get hold of those boots! I have a bag of old textiles that have been washed to death and being loathe to add to landfill, the plan is to take them to H&M for recycling and then put the voucher towards the boots. I’d have donated them to an animal shelter for bedding, except that doesn’t seem to be done here.

Arket has had free shipping till today, so I’ve placed an order for some much needed basics. Struggled with the payment system and after three attempts my basket was still full. So expect to be receiving between 0 and 3 times the same items in the next few days...

Floisme · 30/09/2018 12:51

It's a little bit big on the waist and probably not easy to get altered as the seams don't run straight. I'll start by just moving the button on the waistband a notch or two - the whole cut is deliberately wonky so hopefully it won't be noticeable. Or I could just eat more cake. The worst that can happen is someone else will get it for Christmas.

quirkychick · 30/09/2018 15:48

bo it's not exactly brilliant literature, is it? I like Toast, I also like yoga (though mine is more of a 20mins YouTube vinyasa first thing in the morning, rather than a retreat) but that really is just drivel. The pictures and clothes are lovely enough, I don't need to read faux "philosophy". But yes, who is being paid £££ to produce such pretentious rubbish?

The ox gall soap sounds like a great trick. There was a good thread on Style & Beauty a while back about tips and tricks for looking after/mending clothes.

ToElleWithIt · 30/09/2018 16:47

I kind of think that those blurbs read a bit like inspirational meme generators. I wonder if we could set up something like this www.qwghlm.co.uk/toys/dailymail/ to churn out these blurbs and earn ourselves a fortune in the process. What a shame to write that kind of drivel when we have much more talented wordsmiths like xing posting on mumsnet.

Xing I think clog type things are often go-tos for chefs, but outside of that I always hear about Skechers memory foam being great for comfort.

Peregrane the bits you kept look great. I like the jacket. I’m not so happy with my margaret blouse. It looks the part, but the button holes are slightly too big for the buttons which I found out the hard way when I vigorously shrugged off my coat in the office and looked down to find that the top two were undone. Thankfully I was the first one in.

Is oxgall soap available in the UK? Is there a particular brand to look for?

Lovely skirt Floisme what a find!

botemp Zara boots are lovely and not dissimilar to the Sartore ones you posted before iirc. Glad that you’re happy with the Jacquemus trousers. I’ll keep an eye out for a cheap “fancy” top!

I’m dithering over the Anine Bing plus jumper combo. It’s definitely not my usually type of looks so I’m not sure if I’m wavering because it looks bad or because it’s outside my wheelhouse. The boots aren’t quite right with it (pic 1) which must mean I need a pair of straight shaft boots - suggestible moi>?! Now what colour….

Also on trial are these Chloe boots (wouldn’t wear with skirt I think) which are too small so need to go back regardless, but should I order in the right size? I like them, but am worried about them being too fashion-victimy. They’re good with jeans and the heel is a good height.
