Beauty advent calendars....

Piccolino2 · 17/08/2018 09:30

For those interested there's already some info coming out on this years beauty advent calendars... plenty of time for us all to debate and neurose about it all:

www.reallyree.com/?s=Advent%202018

I've been putting £5 away a week since last Christmas for this so I can purchase guilt free and as I organise the whole of Christmas for everyone then I think I should get a treat to look forward to. Personally I think I like the look of Harrods this time.

What do you all think?

The QVC Molton Brown advent seems to be different from the one being sold at MB it's also cheaper £114 and on 4 payments of £28.50 a month if anyone is interested. I think I would prefer the qvc one to MB one the choices are nicer.

I'm really hoping I can swing the Liberty one - it just seems more 'balanced' than the other ones, i.e. you get candle, perfume, face wash, toner, moisturiser, mascara etc.

My friend extremely nicely helped me out through a bottle neck with finances last week so I need to balance out bills then see if I can buy it.

My greedy little consumer soul wants it, of course!

Does anyone know what the Le Labo AnOther 13 perfume is like?

Pinkandyellowandgreen · 17/09/2018 11:49

I was given an L'Occitane one last year and it was fabulous.

L'Occitane isn't a brand I was familiar with other than for soap but the products were fantastically good quality and a great range - mini perfumes, hand cream, body lotion, some fabulous overnight moisturiser which took years off! I was surprised by how impressed I was and looking at the price of the current one - it was really good value. I'd highly recommend the L'Occitane one.

The one this year has a different design but product range looks similar.

I’ve not smelt Le Labo AnOther 13 but I’ve had the Liberty advent calendar for the last 2 years and each has contained a different Le Labo fragrance. They are really nice and quite strong. The size in the calendar is 15ml so still worth quite a bit

sassolino · 24/09/2018 18:23

I ordered L'Occitane (Classic), and it arrived today. Just need all the will power to keep it sealed. I love the idea that it's all skincare and bath products, and no nail polishes and decorative cosmetics. Bought no,7 for 3 years in a row, used all the skincare, but still have a lot of unused items like eyelash curler (or whatever it's called), nail polish in garish Christmas colours and eye palette which are not my colours. I think I'll skip it this year.

UtterlyDesperate · 24/09/2018 18:33

I'm disappointed by the contents of the Liberty one this year - I'd intended to splurge, but now I've saved myself £175, I've bought the ASOS one (excellent last year) and ordered the Look Fantastic one for me and my mother. I got her LF last year, as a change after years of You/Latest in Beauty, and M and S. LF got the vote!

MotherofTerriers · 24/09/2018 23:01

I’ve just cancelled the look fantastic ones I had ordered for me and my daughter. Not sure what to go for instead

Didsomeonesaybunny · 24/09/2018 23:10

I ended up getting the Liberty offer and ordered a load of lovely candles. I may therefore not bother getting a Liberty advent and instead getting a Harrods beauty advent instead. I have decided against a Dipytique calendar as when I added up all of the contents you were paying around £40 for the box alone. Think I’ll get my mum the Elemis beauty calendar!

MotherofTerriers · 24/09/2018 23:17

I had the liberty one last year but got the offer this time so might go for Harrods. And m&s. Will have a look at the you beauty one, haven’t had that for a couple of years

WingingWonder · 24/09/2018 23:42

I’m a bit interested in the aldi one that’s due-saw it in their Christmas press show sneak preview- the candles etc, budget yes, not JM yes but worth a go surely!

Caggie09 · 25/09/2018 07:54

Elle advent has gone live, ordering nowGrin

MrsCar · 25/09/2018 17:50

I'm thinking of the L'Oréal/selfridges one, I really love Lancôme.

Caggie09 · 26/09/2018 12:24

I had that 2 year ago, and i loved it!

Link to watch Harrods unboxing if anyone wants spoilers!

prettymuchaceleb · 26/09/2018 12:33

Does anyone think the Jo Malone calendar will be worth the price , once you've added up all the products ? First Xmas since my mum died so feel like treating myself to something

MrsCar · 26/09/2018 12:45

I love watching unboxing Grin

Nanasueathome · 26/09/2018 12:51

I had the Jo Malone one 2 years ago, think it was £250 then
I thought the price more or less matched the value
Jo herself has one this year, Jo Loves is her own brand
I’ve also seen that Fortnum and Mason are doing a calendar this year and that looks pretty good. It can be ore ordered now as is very limited edition (think the website says 400 only)

MsMaestro · 26/09/2018 13:10

Has anyone seen one which just contains lovely bars of soap?

SapphireSeptember · 26/09/2018 21:52

I'm a cheapskate, I'm getting the (Makeup) Revolution one again, it's pretty similar to last year's but I want the eyeshadow palette that's in it! I also want the lip one they do, and the New Year's Eve countdown one, again for the eyeshadow palette. Also waiting to see if Essence are doing one this year. I got the one from last year in August then used it to count down the days to my birthday. Grin

Piccolino2 · 26/09/2018 22:19

Oh, now I don't know what to do! I thought I really liked Harrods but after seeing the unboxing I'm not sure. A few make up items I'm not keen on, I loved Liberty last year and now swaying to that. Will have to go back and look at all the contents again. Argh! What a great problem to have!

I had a QVC Tili box last year which I thought I loved at the time but I have about 12 bits and bobs that I've never used (red nail varnish about 2 days before Christmas was a mistake - too late for my Christmas meals out). It also featured a dark fake tan, a lipstick that made me look dead and Liz Earle Cleanse and polish which was in the previous Tili box. This time I'm after skincare, body care and candles so am watching this thread with interest.

buckeejit · 26/09/2018 22:48

Ah I'm gutted about the space nk one-last couple of years it was free with big spend & was on a par with the Liberty one imo.

I don't need one as still tons from last couple of years but will get look fantastic probably

buckeejit · 26/09/2018 23:21

Is the liberty offer finished now then? I can't see anything & wondering if I'm not special enough or there's nothing to find!

Didsomeonesaybunny · 27/09/2018 12:09

The Liberty gift offer has expired now I think. The advent calendar will be out next month though so keep your eyes peeled.

I watched the Harrods unboxing and was pretty disappointed too, I actually think I may now revert back to Liberty, I use more of the products.

Caggie09 · 27/09/2018 12:31

I think Harrods is far to expensive for the products you get. Will order JL tomorrow and stash it away until i can use it. Then ill await the Jo Loves oneGrin

Satsumaeater · 27/09/2018 14:13

I ordered the Elemis one and it came yesterday. It seems quite good value and the contents should last for quite a while. Especially as I got two free gifts with my order, too.
