Mumsnetters' top picks from ASOS

Hi folks,

A swift glance at the Style & Beauty boards reveals ASOS’s popularity with MNers (where else can you get unlimited next-day delivery all year for a tenner?), but we wanted to know about Mumsnetters’ best ever ASOS purchases and pool the collective wisdom of our in-house style mavens.

So, whether it’s the perfect plain white tee or a party dress you can breastfeed in, we asked Mumsnetters to share their ASOS wardrobe staples and offered the chance to win a £50 voucher for their trouble. You can take a look at their top picks below and contribute your two cents if you like (though the competition is now closed).

This thread isn’t sponsored by ASOS, but we might use it to give us a steer on future content.

Update: we might add a link into your post if we think it would be helpful.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

ASOS has been my go to shopping site for years- since it was as scene on screen. I love the free delivery and returns and the quality of the clothes is better than most others in the same price range. The best thing for me is the ease to search for what you want and the many filters you can use, also not having to scroll back to the top of the screen for these options- definitely something others sites could learn from.
I really like that I can buy stuff from paperchase, mango etc without having to go into town. Look at this beautiful watch m.asos.com/olivia-burton/olivia-burton-ob16vm26-abstract-floral-mesh-watch-in-rose-gold/prd/9275684?clr=rosegold&SearchQuery=olivia%20burton&gridcolumn=2&gridrow=21&gridsize=2&pge=1&pgesize=72&totalstyles=45 ! And the petite clothes are great!

I've bought several sweater dresses from ASOS like this.
www.asos.com/prd/8930915
It's been a bit hot for wear them lately unfortunately. I was worried they might be a bit frumpy. But they're all quite bright colours and I make sure I wear quite big necklaces with them. I am a little bit addicted to ASOS Blush

I know what you mean about sending stuff back. I tend to drop my returns at collect + in my local shopping centre. Which I got to often as its really clise. I suppose it depends if you're going past suitable drop off points regularly. I do like being able to decide at home rather in a hot changing room!

Onlyforthedogposts · 03/08/2018 21:06

My favourite purchase recently is this....

m.asos.com/asos/asos-design-jersey-minimal-playsuit-with-pockets/prd/9063858?clr=black&SearchQuery=minimal playsuit&gridcolumn=2&gridrow=1&gridsize=2&pge=1&pgesize=72&totalstyles=9

It's comfy, not too low cut and it has pockets, been living in it! I'm totally gutted I only bought one and now my size is sold out. I love the fact you can buy a couple of sizes try on and send back easily...I'm sure I could do that with other retailers but I never do, it seems much easier with ASOS for some reason. I mostly buy their own brand stuff as it's usually a good fit for me.

My favourite ever purchase is an ASOS cropped quilted black leather biker jacket from about 7 years ago which I have worn to death, I am terrified it's going to fall apart at some point. £50 would go nicely towards a new one Grin.

ASOS is one of my favourite shops, I think the Curve range is one of the best plus ranges out there. They have some fantastic styles that are within most people's budgets & I find the search facility really easy. Returns have always been really easy & straightforward.
My best ever buy has been a beautiful coral cold shoulder midi dress I bought for a wedding. I feel really beautiful & comfortable in it (which as a plus size woman doesn't happen very often). Every time I wear it I have received lots of compliments. Unfortunately I can't find a link as it's a few years old now.

I love that ASOS sell ranges varying from styles in the usual to the not so usual. Most of my wardrobe is from ASOS!
My favourite things to wear throughout the heatwave have been their ultimate t-shirt dresses, I have almost every colour. They're perfect to just throw on or to dress up a bit for a more polished look. They've also definitely helped me feel better since I've struggled to lose my baby weight since DS was born a few months ago!
Love, love, love them!

I also felt wonderful, despite being 10 days post giving birth, wearing the burgundy version of this to a family wedding.

❤️ for petite DD's
So much better than any high street

PatchworkElmer · 03/08/2018 23:19

ASOS is brilliant. Most of my maternity clothes were from there- their maternity leggings are great. My most worn maternity item was a black smock with white flowers- so comfy, so flattering, and no ironing required.

I’ve bought a lot from them recently- my favourite purchase has to be some funky harem pants though. They’re black with bright flowers- very comfy and very summery.

ASOS is great when you don’t have time to physically shop. It was a godsend during my HG pregnancy too- I could buy bump-friendly clothes without leaving the house.

Allegorical · 04/08/2018 06:31

Increasingly buy a lots from ASOS due to not having time to shop with three under 5 and them having an excellent returns policy. I have bought quite a bit of maternity stuff from them and it isn’t the usual boring frumpy Breton stripe etc that everyone else seems to do.

Have also found quite quite a lot of Breast feeding friendly dresses.

My best purchase has been a tiered skirt sun dress last year that I can breast feed in. The tiers hide my mum tum quite well. I ended up buying three in different patterns and I am living in them at the moment. I like that they do the same dress in different patterns quite a lot.

namastayinbed · 04/08/2018 07:26

I love that I can get next day delivery on Mac and The Ordinary.

And this winter I lived in their tall, navy culottes.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/08/2018 09:31

My favourite thing from Asos has been black denim dungarees - love them! I also have 3 pairs of Farleigh high waisted slim mom jeans - the Petite jeans range is great. I have some lovely cheap shoes too - got some black patent ankle strap Faith ballet pumps from there in June and have worn them nearly every day.

I find tops and dresses a bit more hit and miss, though - it’s hard to find things that flatter big boobs. That applies to all shops, though! I’m 5’2” and usually size 12 in Asos, but high-necked T-shirts like the crew neck ones really don’t work - wish they would do more V necks!

SoftBlocks · 04/08/2018 09:32

I love my ASOS black jersey harem pants! They are sooo comfortable, fantastic for flying and even though they are quite voluminous they are very flattering.

toastlover · 04/08/2018 11:14

I love that Asos is a one stop shop. Clothes, accessories, make up, moisturiser. You can buy a whole outfit in one go on a small or a large budget.

I save things to my wish list and check them daily for any reductions. Premier delivery option means free next day delivery and items are usually refunded in under a week if returned.

My whole wardrobe is from Asos but I suppose I wear my Ridley skinny jeans the most - they come in 28 inch length which is sooo hard to come by.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 04/08/2018 12:01

I have 2 fantastic, simple, jersey maxi dresses from ASOS. One black, one grey. I love them.

I've also just bought a sparkly silver dress. I have no idea when I'm going to wear it, but I figured everyone needs something sparkly in their wardrobe, just in case.

Frolicacid · 04/08/2018 12:54

I love asos. Everything i’ve had has been great quality. So much choice.
My best ever buy is a very cheap black jersey swing dress. It must be 10 years old, but it’s as good as new and I’m complimented every time I wear it.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 04/08/2018 13:45

I don't have a link because I bought it about 10 years ago, but my cropped leather jacket is amazing!! It's such good quality and I've had it forever, it'll last for many more years as well.

oneofthose · 04/08/2018 14:03

Perfect 'going back to work but still need to breastfeed before I leave and when I get home' dress 👌🏻

LOVE this from ASOS!www.asos.com/prd/8029199

BangingOn · 04/08/2018 16:44

I’m a huge ASOS fan, particularly since their sizing has become more consistent. I have a Premier delivery pass and the unlimited next day delivery is very handy.

I love the fact that ASOS offer lots of different fits, such as my most recent purchase of these boots which I can’t wait to wear into autumn. I hate a gap between my skirt and boots so these will be perfect with knee or midi length skirts.

Sudename · 04/08/2018 18:17

I love the curve range and have bought some really nice occasion dresses from Asos.
Being Irish I love the free postage and returns too

mrssunshinexxx · 04/08/2018 19:10

I love ASOS so much there are clothes for every occasion and always true to size and picture 😍

bluebeck · 04/08/2018 19:12

I love this dress - www.asos.com/new-look/new-look-animal-print-midi-wrap-dress/prd/10434983?clr=redpattern&SearchQuery=&cid=8799&gridcolumn=1&gridrow=11&gridsize=4&pge=1&pgesize=72&totalstyles=4700

I am off on holiday and intending to visit a few cathedrals and need something that is pretty but covers shoulders and knees and this fits the bill perfectly.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 04/08/2018 19:32

Am not a fan of ASOS. Hsve ordered a few things and had someone else's items included in with my orders. Have also had clothes put in the wrong packaging, so they are not the size I ordered.
Customer services seems to have no facility to correct mistakes.

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 04/08/2018 20:44

ASOS is my absolute go-to whenever I need anything! Was great for maternity wear and nursing friendly dresses for a wedding I went to with my new baby last summer.
This summer it’s all about the ASOS JASLYNN Espadrilles! Pink with metallic tips. Love them (originally £12, now seem to be £6).

Link added by MNHQ: Jaslynn Espadrilles, £6 (were £12)

I ❤ASOS! It's one of the few places in can shop for most of the family at once. It offers something for us all, from teenagers to late 40's!
m.asos.com/boohoo/boohoo-square-neck-midi-skater-dress/prd/10501545?clr=red&SearchQuery=&cid=8799&gridcolumn=1&gridrow=36&gridsize=2&pge=4&pgesize=72&totalstyles=4662 this has been my best buy of the summer, was great on holiday with flat sandals but equally lovely with a navy blazer and courts for work for a mere £20!
