Mumsnetters' top picks from ASOS

AliceDMumsnet · 02/08/2018 16:08

Hi folks,

A swift glance at the Style & Beauty boards reveals ASOS’s popularity with MNers (where else can you get unlimited next-day delivery all year for a tenner?), but we wanted to know about Mumsnetters’ best ever ASOS purchases and pool the collective wisdom of our in-house style mavens.

So, whether it’s the perfect plain white tee or a party dress you can breastfeed in, we asked Mumsnetters to share their ASOS wardrobe staples and offered the chance to win a £50 voucher for their trouble. You can take a look at their top picks below and contribute your two cents if you like (though the competition is now closed).

This thread isn’t sponsored by ASOS, but we might use it to give us a steer on future content.

Update: we might add a link into your post if we think it would be helpful.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

Your own version of vans. I luffs them.

Thatforagameof · 02/08/2018 18:28

Never purchased anything ASOS so will be watching with interest!

Thankewe · 02/08/2018 18:33

I buy everything on Asos, whether branded or not. They seem to stock everything but I love the range of workout clothes and also branded t shirts (where I can get them slightly cheaper using student discount!)

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 02/08/2018 18:37

My favourite dress ever is from ASOS: a midi, long sleeve jersey dress. I need to dress modestly for work and this has been a life saver. Unfortunately I only bought the black one and it’s getting so so old. I keep checking but they have never made more of them, which is a shame as I’d buy every colour given the chance!
Please bring them back!!

I buy lots from ASOS. Although I have been skint this summer and so I am living in last years duds.

My favourite purchase of the last 6 months was a black jumpsuit. Really nicely cut, good fabric, good shape and no overembellishment. A good go to for most events.

I like that I can often get a whole outfit from there without looking like I went into one shop and bought all of their stock.

TakeOffYourJudgyPants · 02/08/2018 18:44

I love ASOS. It's been my go to place for clothes/makeup/shoes for as long as I can remember. The wide choice, fit and next day delivery is what keeps me hooked.

CorianderDestroysFamilies · 02/08/2018 18:50

I bought an amazing black bardot neck dress years ago that sucked my twice pregnant stomach in and nipped me in just so, I wore it every time I went out. But now I’ve lost weight and it doesn’t fit and I’ve never seen it again!
Most recently I bought a gorgeous navy pencil skirt with two splits in the front that is so simple but looks 🔥 on, and they do the ordinary skin care so I’m forever buying that and yes I do have the premier delivery thing because I’m crap and always ordering last minute things!

wheresyourheadatt · 02/08/2018 19:16

I love asos!! I purchase weekly, however, I love my big baggy green tshirt.

If I want to go out, pop a waist belt on with skinny's and heels or if your looking to chill wear with comfy pyjamas bottoms or joggers.

PERFECT!!!

Margueritte · 02/08/2018 19:21

My wedding dress was ASOS! Everyone assumed I'd spent £££

BuntyCollocks · 02/08/2018 19:25

Discount for students and brilliant, on trend clothes. Love it.

mouseymummy · 02/08/2018 19:30

I love their petite range, it's actually the only place I can get decent jeans that aren't too long or too short! And they always fit perfectly!!!

Plus the run way videos, the fact that they fit straight after washing and don't get too loose after wearing... they are the perfect jeans

I love their dresses too, they're never too short and their leggings are awesome too and last forever.

Prices are very reasonable too and my eldest approves too!

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 02/08/2018 19:33

Asos curve is by far my favourite plus brand....everything seems to be designed specifically for curves not just "bigger" yet is still fashionable. The biggest draw is the plus models...all gorgeous and make it easier to picture the clothes on myselfGrin

Ellapaella · 02/08/2018 19:39

I love the high waisted Farleigh jeans from ASOS.
Best thing about ASOS is the speedy delivery and quick return/refund process. One of the best online retailers for this in my opinion.

pusheenthecat · 02/08/2018 19:43

I've had some great items from ASOS but my top pick is probably a denim shirt. Simple and I hope quite stylish. Can be worn with a cool midi skirt, leggings or chinos.
The quality seems better than other places where you would pay the same. Plus they deliver so you can enjoy trying things on in your own home away from scary changing room lighting!

ichifanny · 02/08/2018 19:47

Ive been buying from Asos since the early as seen on screen days and had a copy of a red Madonna dress it was amazing .
I buy all my Monki things from ASOS and lazy Oaf
My favourite item ever was a pair of minna parikka bunny ear trainers.

HowDoYouPronounceJohn · 02/08/2018 19:49

I check the site weekly, but only order once or twice a year, usually then sending the whole lot back. A big issue is that I'm 5'3", and they don't cater much to those of us of that height in terms of trousers/jeans. (As with most sites I suppose, but then ASOS does carry a huge amount of stock.) Also, way too much bizarre stuff that isn't wearable in the real world, and too much polyester.

The last thing I bought were the galactic pyjamas about 2 years ago. My best purchases were two Nica crossbody bags, one in pewter and one in green, which are now falling to bits. Unfortunately they are no longer made, so I'm unable to replace them.

Littlejayx · 02/08/2018 19:53

I bought 12 dresses from asos for my daughters christening last week. I picked from a range of £20 to £190. There is so much variety and styles

DowntonCrabby · 02/08/2018 19:56

I had a nightmare last summer trying to find a pair of size 9 flat silver sandals smart enough to wear as a bridesmaid.

I’m much taller than the other bridesmaids so the had to be flat so I’d match them in height when they wore heels. The very few pairs I found on the high st were not smart enough or big enough.

I found a gorgeaous pair from ASOS, silver flat with lots of diamanté and jewel detail so very formal, large enough and so comfortable I was one of a very few ladies left still on their shoes by the end of the night. They were only £25 and I’ll definitely wear them again.

A very happy ASOS customer.

Also my DD adores their leggings as she’s very slim and tall but theirs seem to fit perfectly. Grin

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 02/08/2018 19:57

This one Hides lumps and bumps.

Justanotheruser01 · 02/08/2018 20:28

ASOS accept women who are curvey are still fashionable women who dare I say it may want to show skin, unlike new look where honestly I was appalled with their lack of fit to what can only be described as paper bags they sell

WyrdSisterWeatherwax · 02/08/2018 20:36

I love the ASOS design curve premium supersoft legging in cotton modal.

My holy grail of leggings - comfortable, not see through, fit well with a high waist and the inner thighs dont end up with holes after two weeks.

Whichoneisbest · 02/08/2018 20:37

Yep, love ASOS, so convenient and as others have said it’s the quick delivery, easy returns and excellent search function that make it so handy. A real one stop shop as they stock so many brands now.

I’ve shopped on ASOS since my mid 20s so at least 9 years and it’s been able to meet all my needs from club wear, to now maternity and breastfeeding friendly wear (if they had a bf friendly filter that would be amazing)

The thing I like the most which a lot of other sites don’t have is the ‘if you like that you might also like this suggestions’ I spend so much more money because of their suggestions I’m sure!

Scabetty · 02/08/2018 20:43

Brilliant for plain tshirts, white shirts and black trousers which both dd and myself wear daily. I have found dome fantastic designer bargains too. My favourite Monki wide leg trousers are from Asos. I love racking up the reward vouchers too which my teens share betwen them, making a lighter hit on my pocket Wink

flutterbean · 02/08/2018 20:44

Maternity clothes! ASOS seem to have the market cornered with comfy, practical and stylish maternity and nursing clothes!

GrandmistressGlitch · 02/08/2018 20:44

I'm addicted to the ASOS app. The Emma Jane Maternity bra! I live in this one, so comfy www.asos.com/prd/8468912.
