Last year my lovely parents gave me a protected species Mac for my birthday, I really love it. Being tall I am pleased that the sleeves are a good length, totally water proof and very flattering design.

I've been eyeing up these coats for years and can now finally afford one! I ordered the size 6-8 mac in dark olive (thought this would look nice with both black and navy) as I'm normally a size 8-10. It's a tiny bit neat on my hips and a tiny bit big on my top. Think I might order the 10-12 just to rule it out. It's absolutely gorgeous and looks amazing quality so I hope I can find a size that suits.

Linzie (or anyone else) can you confirm what the lining inside is - cotton / shiny lining / fleece etc?

We're not all wealthy and able to spunk £250 on a coat. Even with 40% off it's very expensive. I felt good when I was able to afford a coat from next rather than Primark

Liked the idea of Protected Species but the cut is not sympathetic to pear shapes. I’m a 10 bottom (but hippy), bought a 10-12 and found it generous at top and far too neat around bottom (ie wouldn’t fit a sweater underneath).

I am considering the mac but dithering over colour. Alternatives in price range £100 are showerproof at best. Really like a Michael Kors for similar cost in sale but it isn’t waterproof, has open lapel and is hoodless.
