Oooh Charlotte - clothes: discuss.

I bet she wears H&M t shirts and leggings back at Anmer aka Mia Tindall Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/08/2018 07:51

@VanillaSugar I've seen papped shots of George with granny Carole and off-duty he's dressed like a normal kid in tshirt and hoodie, not like the ghost of a boy who was killed in the Blitz. Charlotte too I imagine, although kudos to Kate for not going down the pink and frilly everything route for her. Kate wears brands like Zara off-duty so maybe the same applies to her kids. She's wedded to her espadrilles though!

Re the behaviour of the Danish consort - he had been difficult for years but the most recent stuff about refusing to be buried with her was then followed relatively soon by his diagnosis of dementia so perhaps not simply him being awkward. I rather thought the royal family must have thought enough is enough and called the doctors in at that point.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/08/2018 08:17

Princess Charlotte would be a fabulous Queen.
Looking forward to her antics when she’s a teenager and onwards.
Hopefully she’ll be a mixture of Zara Tindall & Princess Margaret.
Sassy & well dressed!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/08/2018 08:24

Following on from @Queen’s post about heartthrob PW, the slideshow segued into a slideshow about Ascot; here

Love how the Queen is dressed in the same racing colours as her jockey. She can really carry off some zingy colour combos!

Sophie was wearing a fabulous outfit, especially the hat.

I don’t think there are many royal engagements till October.
Are they all holed up in Scotland wearing tweed?

Noticed that the Invictus Games in Sydney start 2 days after Eugenie’s wedding. So unless Harry & Megs June on a plane straight from the reception, they’re going to miss the opening ceremony...

Sophie's hat is wonderful there, it's like some exotic flower. George and Charlotte are less identifiable with different hair and regular clothes, it protects their privacy. I think the Royals decamp to Balmoral for a bit, have tea with HM, but then go on exotic holidays.
I've just been reading that a Labour MP has complained about the £2m security bill for Eugenie's wedding. He says the tab should be picked up by Andy as Eugenie is not a main royal with official duties.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/08/2018 08:44

That is ridiculous if the public are picking up the security tab for Eugenie's wedding. I know she's a "blood princess" and all that but the Yorks are minor Royals now, whether Andrew likes it or not - we shouldn't have to foot the bill!

OP posts:
Clionba · 20/08/2018 10:33

That's the MP's argument! The added security costs are for the open topped carriage ride (like Harry and Meghan). Otherwise security would be less, like for Peter and Zara Phillips, Sarah Chatto etc.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/08/2018 11:07

I hope for Eugenie's sake that she gets a decent crowd to watch the carriage ride, although open top is a bit of a risk in October! Otherwise it'll just be embarrassing. I just don't think the public will take the same level of interest they did for Harry and William's weddings.

OP posts:
Clionba · 20/08/2018 11:57

They don't seem to see that, do they? There was a lot of interest in Harry and Meghan. Expecting the public to pay £2m is unacceptable, and one of those things that shows they're put of touch. It's going to be a bit of a celebrity do, isn't it?

Watchingtheworldgoby · 20/08/2018 12:44

There will always be people willing to line up to see the royals though even if they have to bus load them in Trump style. And they will invite celebrities who people will want to see too.

Did I read the RF have accepted the best way to keep their roles intact is to become pantomime like - lots of ceremonies, pageantry and so on? The York wedding will add to the hype which I suppose is good for helping to retain their position.

The whole thing is nuts imo. Blue blood indeed huh!!!!

Clionba · 20/08/2018 14:05

Yes, I think it's ridiculous. They can have their wedding in the Chapel, but just for family and invited guests. Photographers can take pics of the slebs and royals in their finery, coming in and out. Cut down the policing bill.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/08/2018 14:33

In the context of we are obliged to pay for security for the royal family, if its St George's chapel, then ok. However the carriage ride is just a vanity thing for the Yorks. Andrew should definitely pay for that security.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/08/2018 16:04

Saw some photos of CP Victoria attending some events in Estonia. Nice enough dresses in both, although something about her style always seems slightly off. Her hair is always pulled back so severlye too, and I often wonder how she'd look with a softer 'do. She and her husband must spend a fortune on hair gel!

Something else I read about Victoria is that she suffers from face blindness, which must be quite a handicap when your job is constantly meeting and greeting people.

not like the ghost of a boy who was killed in the Blitz.

This is so funny!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/08/2018 17:24

A few events for Harry and Meghan have just been announced - a gala performance of Hamilton next Weds and then an awards ceremony and a gala music evening the following week. Evening events usually mean gowns so looking forward to see what she wears!

I thought Meghan was in Toronto??

Clionba · 20/08/2018 19:53

According to various reports, Toronto, visiting mum in California, but also holidaying with Harry chez Clooney in the mansion on Lake Como.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/08/2018 19:55

The Mail's royal correspondent, who is generally fairly reliable, says the stories about LA and Toronto were just rumours.

Just saw this picture of the Queen wearing Navy in about 1974.
She looks so chic.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/08/2018 20:22

That looks like something Kate might wear today. Except the Queen is pushing 50 in that shot and Kate isn't even 40!

Is the dog eating her handbag??Shock

NewUserNameTime · 20/08/2018 20:48

Willl Eugenie's wedding be on tv? I am looking forward to what everyone will wear

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/08/2018 21:10

I doubt the ceremony will be televised but I guess there will be shots as she enters and leaves the chapel, plus the carriage ride. Looking forward to critiquing the guest outfits!

Will there be another The Windsors special? Oh, I hope so!!!!

Shall we start a sweepstakes on the bridal party outfits?

Eugenie: ivory dress, v neck, puffball sleeves, yellow bouquet.

Jack: blue morning dress, brown shoes.

Bea: dressed as a crocus

Sarah: petrol blue & pink shiny suit with a sombrero hat edged in ermine dyed pink to match the dress

Andrew: a miserable expression.
