Which perfume always gets you a compliment?

I love perfume & seem to spend a lot of my disposable income on it. Either cheapies from next & Zara or more expensive brands 2nd hand on eBay. Yet no one ever comments on how nice I smell. I like to think this is because I tend to use quite fresh/citrusy scents which aren't too strong rather than people just don't like how I smell.

So just out of curiosity, do you have a perfume that people always notice or comment positively on?

angel, really? I know, on most people it's like a blast from satan's armpit, but my dd wears it and it smells totally unlike it does normally.

Rive Gauche, yardley Daisy (Dh's favourite)
My favourite is Maison Martin Margiela Untitled, but usually people say what IS that perfume? Not in a good way.
A colleague uses Bulgari Coral, she smells divine.

Oh god... mumsnet is SO bad for your bank balance. I have now signed up for scent addict. I have no idea about perfumes and want to try them all. I usually slap on a bit of Jo malone lime and basil but it doesn’t last long.

Well ladies your suggestions have been fantastic. Now if someone would just like to give me a lot of money to enable me to buy them all, that would be lovely!

I do love having lots of lovely perfume bottles on a shelf to look at, but as I'm on a major budget at the moment, I'm just ordering samples with a view to buy full size bottles of the ones I love when I get back to work. I have byredo gypsy water and a sample pack from 4160 tuesdays hopefully arriving today or tomorrow.

Where did you order yr samples from OP?

Most recently, the original perfume by Fendi. It's a very strong, spicy scent that I only use in the evening. I've had a few people (men and women) ask about it.
Unfortunately, it's discontinued now but I think PP does a dupe, which I may try.

I just get them from eBay @Snickerdoodledandy although I never have any idea if I'm buying the real thing or not!

Men seem to love Alien. Random men have stopped me in shop queues, bars etc to ask what I'm wearing - the majority have noted it down to buy their significant other 😍

Women? They never bother. I'm well known for wearing it and my friend's say it's "my scent" and it's nice but there must be something about it that appeals to the male nostril

I could only ever get it on airplanes in the early 00s but I haven't seen it since and would truly love to purchase a bottle

its funny about Cabotine - I've always loved the smell of it on other people (brings back happy memories of French exchange in the 90s) but when I wear it myself it just doesn't work.

Omg Cabotine, that takes me back. I used to wear it all the time in my twenties. Can't believe they still make it.

Mine is a body lotion, Laura mercier, ambre et vanille. I get asked by women all the time what it is, inc shop assistants, and I get complimented by men that I smell lovely 😳

Angel by Thierry Mugler without fail gets me compliments every time, I love it and have been wearing it since 2011 lol also Parisienne by YSL is another winner for me.
