Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

The outfit is Prada.
I’d like to see her in a few more British Designers. If she was savvy she would have picked a commonwealth designer for tonight’s event. I thought the national costumes in the group photos were fab

SleepingStandingUp · 27/06/2018 00:16

That's a daring neckline for Sophie at an NSPCC fundraiser tonight

OlennasWimple · 27/06/2018 00:25

that's one reason I like Sophie's clothes - they look conservative, as they have to be, but have little twists that make them interesting or daring

Quantumblue · 27/06/2018 00:50

Nice to see Meghan in something that does not drown her.

SenecaFalls · 27/06/2018 01:04

Many of Meghan's public appearances since her marriage have been in the presence of the Queen. Perhaps she will get a bit more adventurous when she is out and about on her own.

Am I the only person not to be blown away by Sophie Wessex style ? I feel her clothes wear her a bit, rather than the other way round. Her recent Royal Wedding outfit to me seemed put of place at a May wedding, too structured, and made her look dumpy. I wpuld like to see her in something more flowy and for her to grow out that haircut.

I feel the exact same (in fact I didn't know this was what I felt until you said it so perfectly :)) - too structured, too "on her" rather than just part of her. Would love to see her in something flowy. Still, she is clearly happy in her style.

I think the Duchess of Cambridge is like her mother - she'll be wearing essentially the same lovely, suitable, well made coat dress/dress at weddings and events for the rest of her life. Carol Middleton is a fab looking woman - but she wears the same very nice style clothes at every event.

I don't think MM has hit her stride yet - apart from the shoes. Her shoes are universally fab (DoC's are usually mediocre). I loved the black trouser suit for her first appearance - and the Stella McCarthney dress was pretty lovely too.

I think Laetezia of Spain and Raina of Jordan are the best dressers from the type that duchesses of cambridge and sussex are in - very slim, dark-haired, pretty, conservative impetus - they do it really well.

The dutch queen is amazing - if I were the york girls I'd be looking at her style.

HerRoyalNotness · 27/06/2018 01:42

queen. I think that’s what makes Kate’s outfits frumpy, the shoes! When she wears some strappy or pointy shoes, it mkes the whole outfit more modern

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 27/06/2018 07:13

I suspect Kate wears her shoes for comfort.
I cannot wear heels, so kudos to anyone who can tolerate them on a daily basis...

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/06/2018 07:25

@SleepingStandingUp I've never seen Sophie in something so décolleté! But is that a jumpsuit??

OP posts:
NobodysMot · 27/06/2018 07:47

Ive never seen sophie look good! But she is not obliged to look more than appropriate. So. ...

SleepingStandingUp · 27/06/2018 08:32

Second jumpsuit in a week or so? She wore one to Ascot

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/06/2018 08:53

Here's an article from a few years back about the queen of recycling outfits!

Gosh Anne is thrifty and has kept her figure.
I don't like her style choices though.
She has great legs- put a higher heel on and shorten the skirt slightly. She'd be less dowdy.
What does the Queen do with ALL her outfits ?
She hardly sends them to the local charity shop once she's worn an outfit, does she?
Does she wear them again ?
I think she has really upped her style game in the last decade.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/06/2018 10:48

The queen was fairly glamorous as a young woman (though not as glam as her sister) and changed her style appropriately as she aged. The neon-bright outfits are only since the last decade or so, you're right. Maybe she has a walk-in wardrobe the size of a football field where she keeps all her outfits!

I agree Sophie’s clothes wear her.

MM is FAR more stylish than Kate will ever be. Added to that MM has curves which always make clothes look sexier. I feel a bit sorry for MM because when the others allwear their frock coats, she will stick out like a sore thumb if she wears stylish clothes so will have to reign it in to be as frumpish as the rest of them.

We can only really look at what she wears ‘off duty’ and I’m certain it won’t be Breton tops thankfully!

It seems unfair to compare them but it is understandable when their main job is to be on parade.

harrietm87 · 27/06/2018 14:30

I don't think MM does have curves whitesea - she's a classic Apple - skinny legs and quite boxy torso, and since she's lost weight recently she's quite flat chested too. Agree she's got great style though.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/06/2018 17:52

The Sussexes are off to Ireland in a couple of weeks so I'm imagining Meghan may wear a lot of green. Also maybe there'll be a return to her engagement style as she won't be in the presence of the Queen.

eloisesparkle · 27/06/2018 20:06

Meghan's an apple ?
Shock
Faints

NobodysMot · 27/06/2018 21:57

where in ireland are they going? I hope I see them :-p so unlikely

If Megan's an apple, I'm a star fruit.

NobodysMot · 27/06/2018 21:57

Has anybody seen those peaches that are shaped like doughnuts?

petrolpump28 · 27/06/2018 22:43

its true about the frock coats, odd things really

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/06/2018 23:11

Actually I forgot, before the Irish trip isn't there prince Louis's christening on Monday?

OP posts:
Whitesea · 27/06/2018 23:25

I think I read the christening is late on Monday evening.

I wonder will MM be one of four Godmother?

I hope Kate dons her full 19th century fancy dress, and pushes that big old pram up a gravel road wearing high heels again. I thought I was looking at some historical drama series the last time, it was hilarious.

I am looking forward to seeing what MM wears. I hope (if Harry and Meghan are hoping for babies as Harry has already said he is), that they are successful. They would have beautiful kids.

SleepingStandingUp · 28/06/2018 00:23

Is doesn't seem that different to a lot of what she wears. An jealous of the pram though

I do love Zara Tindall. I suspect her youngest daughter will be even more of a legend than Mia. The picture of her holding the Queen's handbag is hilarious (in a nice way).
