Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

Love the one shoulder on Eugenie and her hair & makeup are really pretty. However the skirt bit is really flappy and then she's added trousers....?

Those girls do like experimenting with fashion.
Its when they have to do "Princess" that they look terrible

SleepingStandingUp · 26/06/2018 17:32

She's added trousers for decency's sake

I can’t say I like these outfits. I find them too try hard and contrived, the outfits I mean. Over gilding the lily springs to mind. Bet the outfits cost a fortune though.

Clionba · 26/06/2018 17:58

Those York women have all the benefits of Royalty and few of the downsides, don't they?

petrolpump28 · 26/06/2018 18:12

they have one downside, which is no idea what to wear. Go to John Lewis or Debenhams and see a personal shopper .

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/06/2018 18:38

Meghan's gone for a bit of a Jackie O/Audrey Hepburn vibe with this evening's outfit. Hard to tell what it's really like til she stands up

Actually the video on this page shows her walking in and it looks like the skirt of her dress has an interesting hemline.

Eugenie and Beatrice have personal stylists. Also personal shoppers. They must have massive wardrobes, I don't see them repeat outfits.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/06/2018 18:58

Yeah no "recycling" like Kate hahaha

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/06/2018 19:19

Meghan is now getting booooorrring with her play it safe / neutral outfits. The only outfit with a bit of colour was the trooping of the colour blush dress and the Laura Ashley bedspread dress.

eloisesparkle · 26/06/2018 19:23

I actually find it extraordinary that Harry doesn't appear to have met her father and Meghan hasn't seen him since he had the trouble with his heart pre her wedding.
Perhaps they have met quietly.

Clionba · 26/06/2018 19:25

Thomas Markle said on GMTV that he's never met Harry and she hadn't visited following his heart procedure. It does seem strange, but maybe she wants to cut him out. Who knows.

petrolpump28 · 26/06/2018 19:39

if the York gals have stylists, they need sacking . Meghan, so beige , so dull , so the firm.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 26/06/2018 20:15

Meghan’s style pre Harry was really striking. Unfortunately a bit too edgy and leggy for a duchess. Her engagement style was a smarter evolution of her US / Canadian style. It must be really hard for her as at 36, she already had her own look and now she is reinventing herself.

Karen always had a pretty conservative look, and her personal style has evolved hand in hand with being a duchess...

NobodysMot · 26/06/2018 20:31

I bet Meghan will keep it baggy and oversized for a while now. Everybody will be watching her stomach like a HAWK now. So until a pregnancy is in the bag she would be sensible to stick with oversized.

I love Beatrice's peacock dress linked above!

Ttheir clothes get so much negative commentary, and they're not fashion representitives or designers. . Good for them that they haven't been so cowed by all the fashion critics that they wear beige coat dresses everywhere.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/06/2018 20:33

I liked the outfits she wore during their engagement. Hopefully she's just playing it safe until she feels a part of the family and will then wear more interesting stuff after that.

It makes me think back to Diana again - her outfits were never dull! Though you could argue that her 80s outfits were the height of fashion but haven't dated very well.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/06/2018 20:36

I think Beatrice and Eugenie genuinely like clothes and shopping, hence why they never recycle outfits. I don't think Kate is that into fashion so she's happy to repeat here and there. Or perhaps she's being savvy and doesn't want to appear profligate.

But credit to the ultimate recycler - Princess Anne! How many 60-something women can still fit into dresses they wore 30 years ago?

OP posts:
Clionba · 26/06/2018 20:42

Meghan's outfit this evening is quite close fitting, not baggy. It's nice but it's very pale and the bateau neckline again. She looks very pretty and chic.

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/06/2018 21:33

Now that I've seen a few more photos, I think I do like tonight's outfit. The asymmetrical hem keeps it from being boring and she has the build to carry off the 60s Jackie O look successfully. The belt seems a bit superfluous but that's about it. The colour though - is it pale pink or cream?

I don’t like MMs hair and make-up tonight looks a bit like a doll I prefer her normal look

WipsGlitter · 26/06/2018 21:52

It looks like it doesn't fit properly. The belt is a bit fussy. Fab shoes. Possibly had some filler in her cheeks?

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/06/2018 22:00

I think it's just an excess of highlighter rather than fillers.

LadyLizziemae · 26/06/2018 22:08

I like the outfit that Meghan was wearing this evening. I don’t know how she managed to walk in those heels though.

I find it interesting that John Major was there accompanying HMTQ - I’ve read before that they have got on well together since he was Prime Minister and had weekly meetings with her.

Clionba · 26/06/2018 22:18

I don't like Meghan's make up, it's too shiny. She's beautiful and suits very low key make up. It's over done.

SenecaFalls · 26/06/2018 22:24

The colour though - is it pale pink or cream?

Articles in US media are describing it as pink. I like it; it's very elegant.
