Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

I like the green outfit. Not too formal, and stylish.

I can’t tell from the photos whether she has stuck two fingers up at granny-in-law’s hideous beige tights mandate.

After seeing the Middleton sisters at the christening yesterday, Bea and Yooj must be high fiving each other and shouting, “RAY WEN GAY!”

Kate has started dressing like the queen mother, when she was in her fifties. Why dowdify yourself like that? You don’t have to be frumpy to look regal.

eloisesparkle · 10/07/2018 18:57

Meghan arrived in Dublin in green as predicted by everyone.
She looked lovely.
She has the slimmest legs I've ever seen on an adult.
Christening yesterday
RAF centenary celebration this morning.
Irish PM in Dublin this afternoon with reception this evening at the British Ambassadors residence and a full day tomorrow in Dublin.
I'm tired just thinking of all those engagements.

Great slide show, curlywurly

TSSDNCOP · 10/07/2018 19:12

She's worn that skirt before, but with a different top I think, which is a relief as the budget for her dresses this summer must've been eye watering.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2018 19:14

Bearing in mind she only got engaged in November, Meghan has got so polished in 8 short months.

She was in a fairly successful tv series for several years so I guess she was used to getting dressed up for awards shows and other events. A different wardrobe to what's required from a royal but she would've had years of knowing what suits her and which designers she preferred. So it might've been easier for her than for someone who wasn't used to the limelight.

Also don’t feel too sorry for them, no doubt they will have a long extended break to’get over’ the exhaustion of dressing up, waving and exchanging pleasantries!

QueenoftheAndals SmileDior and Givenchy for me

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/07/2018 19:49

Apparently she’s spent a million dollars if you include both wedding dresses. So half is 500k usd, which is about £370 k.
Even with that Ralph & Russo dress, that seems a bit high.
Although, eg ascot, Givenchy dress, £8k, £2k for hat, between £1-2k for accessories. So that’s £12k for one outfit. I wouldn’t be surprised if this morning’s Dior was similarly priced.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 10/07/2018 19:54

Those DM pics of Harry + Meghan looking at each other are lovely.

This one did crack me up though - pretty accurate evolution of a marriage:

Harry & Meghan: ''you are so gorgeous, just wait til we get home''

William & Kate: ''oh look, they've used a nice font in the programme''

Royal style: Kate/Meghan/Bea/Euj, Maxima/Mary/Letizia/Victoria
QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2018 20:02

Harry seems so incredibly happy these days and the way he looks at Meghan like he can't believe his luck is so sweet. I can remember the sad little boy walking behind his mother's coffin all those years ago, which somehow makes it all the more touching.

@ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual
Grin

Actually looking at them in that photo, it’s like Prince Philip & the Queen and Tony Armstrong Jones and Princess Margaret in the Crown. (I’ve just been binge watching)

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2018 20:20

Meghan is wearing a sleek LBD for the garden party. Hair down. Can't see the shoes.

Yeah, seven years and three kids does tend to take the shine off the honeymoon spirit Grin

In some of the other photos, it's clearer that MM's dress is a very very dark navy, not black

Do we really think that she has actually paid full ticket price for everything that she has worn, though? I assumed that she has borrowed stuff or got it at vastly reduced amounts because any designer would love for her to wear their stuff. Wedding dresses aside, I would be surprised if she had spent as much as is reported

Whitesea · 10/07/2018 20:33

The black dress is lovely but even more gorgeous is her hairstyle. She is so bloody glamorous!!!!!!!!!!!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2018 20:35

@OlennasWimple I doubt she's paid full price for anything as the publicity any designer would get is probably worth more than the cost of the outfit! It's like at the Oscars - most of the actresses borrow their jewels and don't pay full price for their gowns in exchange for mentioning the designer on the red carpet.

^^

I'd say. Kate just wants an early night and Netflix on loop

halfwitpicker · 10/07/2018 20:39

Her hair does look fab. Do you reckon she had it redone before heading to Ireland? Or is it just lots of hairspray?

Whitesea · 10/07/2018 20:40

Three kids and servsnts and a full time nanny or two. Seriously guys she is hardly the average exhausted mum!

dementedma · 10/07/2018 20:41

I really like the Queen's blue and green outfit for the RAF flypast. she looks amazing for her age and seemed to be really enjoying the day

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2018 20:47

This evening's black dress

Summer garden party, wearing black? She looks gorgeous though. Fab shoes and bag.

pallisers · 10/07/2018 20:57

love that outfit.

WipsGlitter · 10/07/2018 21:00

Love the black dress at the garden party. If I'd those arms I'd show them off too!! Maybe the hideous Ralph Lauren she wore to that wedding has put her off the flowing and floral.

Kate is just so predictable and boring looking. I think she looks better when she's a bit more casual eg at Wimbledon. She did look utterly happy yesterday though.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/07/2018 21:04

Kate looked over the moon yesterday. I've never seen her look so happy.
