Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

Yes, Pelly woman looked fab. Kate needs style tips from her.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/07/2018 19:55

@Clionba yes there is an excessive amount of York promotion going on. Fergie I could understand as she is MotB and hasn’t been seen much in years.
However Prince Andrew has always wanted a higher profile for his daughters.
I just hope to god they hire a stylist for the wedding day and it’s memorable for the right reasons

Clionba · 09/07/2018 19:59

"memorable for the right reasons" too right, Curly! The promotion is worrying me a bit, they should avoid becoming celebrities. They have the privileges of royalty with little of the responsibility, and need to be careful.

SleepingStandingUp · 09/07/2018 20:01

They do mix in quit a show biz group, didn't she knight someone and cut Ed Sheeran? He deserves an invite. I suppose for minor royals who want to be "out there" , then that's the set to mix with rather than titled millionaires who no one knows

OlennasWimple · 09/07/2018 20:11

More details on Pippa's dress here (it's the same designer as the dress that Abby Spencer from Suits wore to the H&M wedding).

Poor Hannah Carter (another of the godmothers) was drowned by her dress - she's so tiny!

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/07/2018 20:11

That was Beatrice who cut ed sheran

Eugenie & Beatrice are like watered down versions of Princess Margaret. ( I’ve been binge watching The Crown) Nothing to do but dress up and hang on the sidelines.

I have so much respect for Princess Anne rejecting titles for a Peter & Zara and Edward and Sophie having low profile aristo titles for Louise & James. Technically they are entitled to be Prince & Princess

Whitesea · 09/07/2018 20:17

Eugenia has 27 posts on her Istagram a/c. How can that be interpreted as ‘an active’ Istagram account????

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/07/2018 20:20

@olenaswimple
I thought Pippa dress looked similar in style to Abby Spencer’s.
I know Kate is not lauded for her style, but she often channels the 1940s look. The inevitable photos of her & her children in 40 years time will not look dated.

Whitesea · 09/07/2018 20:24

They will look dated, they will look far older than the year 2018! Put Kate’s official coordinating dress photographs into any decade from 1990 onwards and they already look dated! There is nothing whatsoever wrong with looking like you belong in the era you belong in, in fact it makes looking at old photographs far more interesting.

paradyning · 09/07/2018 20:25

Love MM's outfit! Tights are one shade too light though still! Maybe the camera isn't helping with the sheen reflection?
Kate is just so boring and predictable. I can see how it's for the longevity of the photos etc but boring!!!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/07/2018 20:26

Kate is being compared to Anne Boleyn in AIBU. The thread is hilarious 😂

OlennasWimple · 09/07/2018 20:28

Her children won't look dated as such, because the clothes that George and Charlotte (and presumably Louis) wear could have been worn at any point in the last 100 years, but Kate's will definitely be seen as early 20th century outfits

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/07/2018 20:40

I think Kate always looks faultless. Elegant & groomed.
She is not a high fashion person, remember that shiny mustard floral erdem horror in Sweden?

Meghan does fashion. ( Bea & Eugenie try their best too bless ‘em)

Kate takes her style cues from the Queen in terms of always appropriate, neat, uncontroversial. I mean the Queen has had the sane hairstyle for 60years!

SenecaFalls · 09/07/2018 21:02

Tights are one shade too light though still! Maybe the camera isn't helping with the sheen reflection?

I thought the same thing. In the pictures, the leg closest to the camera looks a shade too light, but the other leg looks like her natural skin tone.

user1457017537 · 09/07/2018 21:17

Did Edward and Sophie and family not attend?

nervousnails · 09/07/2018 21:22

Even the Yorks didn't

beanaseireann · 09/07/2018 21:31

CurlyWurlyTwirly I agree re the Erdem mustard floral horror.

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/07/2018 21:35

The christening of the Cambridge kids have all been immediate family and and godparents attending only.

OP posts:
SenecaFalls · 09/07/2018 21:39

Interesting that the Swedish RF, generally thought to be much more informal, have full-on public christenings for all the world to see. The king even gives his grand babies a little decoration pinned on their christening gown.

QueenOfTheAndals · 09/07/2018 21:49

It is a little odd that the Queen didn't attend, given that she has an event in London tomorrow.

Also is the cake thing something that's common in these circles? Not sure if I'd fancy a slice of 7yo wedding cake!

And Pippa looks so drippy and just like Carole

RiverTam · 09/07/2018 22:18

This is a lovely thread!

I have just spent at least an hour on th blog math linked to, bliss.

Here’s my royal anecdote - my Aunty worked in Denmark during the 60s and once bumped into the Queen of Denmark coming out of a department store. Weren’t they the original bicycling royals?
