Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

My word, MM is a beautiful woman. I hope she doesn’t lose her sassiness!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/07/2018 07:02

You can see the yellow dress at more angles here.
I think that length looks perfect on MM as she has such long legs as a proportion of her height.
She should definitely wear that style more often. Her figure is great and it shows it off in a discreet way.

Clionba · 06/07/2018 07:44

She can carry off that sheath shape, and I'm glad she's bold with colour! I think maybe her dark Prada heels? Also that dress would be perfect for one of HM's glorious brooches. Perhaps Queenie could let her rifle the jewel vault a wee bit?

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/07/2018 08:03

Harper's have done a thorough retrospective of Kate's best looks. More hits than misses, I must admit. There are some excellent coats and gowns there but it's noticeable that a) she looks most comfortable at sporty or outdoorsy events where she's dressed more casually and b) overseas trips are where she's more adventurous with clothes.

I love the yellow dress. Nice and simple. Agree about jewels - a beautiful pair of earrings maybe? Some lovely yellow sapphires? The world's her oyster after all!

I wonder if those stiletto pumps are the same that Kate wears? They look identical to the Gianvito Rossi Gianvito 105 Praline pumps from Pippa's wedding.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/07/2018 08:31

The shoes are apparently Manolo Blahnik @Laiste

Ah right. Gorgeous! I love a classic stiletto. Not keen on that nude with the yellow. No idea what i'd go for instead though. Not a matching yellow obviously ...

(yellow stilettos take me straight back to the 80's!)

I don’t like yellow except maybe a pale lemon. I really disliked Amal Clooney’s mustard outfit at the wedding.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/07/2018 08:45

Have to say that the way she and Harry look at each other is adorable. And she gives great listening face too! I know people will say it's because she's an actress etc but I hope it's genuine.

It'll be interesting to see which charities she takes on board. She's always said she's a feminist so I hope one of them is a women's rights organisation. Not sure when we can expect an announcement about that - I think with Kate it was a few months after her wedding?

User145701....
I agree re yellow.

EmGee · 06/07/2018 11:49

Not keen on the square neckline on Kate's yellow dress.

MikeUniformMike · 06/07/2018 13:53

Meghan's yellow dress is vile but OK after the shoulders, apart from the colour. Her hairstyle is too severe and as for the shoes.

Cornwall73 · 06/07/2018 13:56

I like the yellow dress and think she looks good but those bloody shoes ...... step away from the nude shoes Meg!

Needs good statement jewellery too

user1457017537 · 06/07/2018 13:59

I must hold my hand up and say I like nude heels and shoes. I don’t like heavy clumpy shoes with pastel colours. I will hide in shame now

SenecaFalls · 06/07/2018 14:18

I think that nude heels are a good choice with that type of dress. It's elegant and understated. I don't think you want to draw attention to your feet in a dress like that.

Cornwall73 · 06/07/2018 15:06

I think something scrappy would have looked good but royals aren’t allowed to show their feet (rule for guests at the royal wedding too apparently). I don’t like nudes because it looks like they are just not there.

Cornwall73 · 06/07/2018 15:07

Strappy!

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/07/2018 16:10

I think that's an urban legend @Cornwall73, Kate has worn sandals on quite a few occasions.

Kate has worn sandals on quite a few occasions.

So has the Queen on at least one. Also I think her wedding shoes were sandals.

Wips I've always assumed that Edward has made a conscious decision that he and his family will keep a fairly low profile. Whether he just wants his children to have a more normal childhood than he did or whether he's a bit embarrassed about his past flirtations with showbiz, I don't know.

Anyway, I think Sophie and Camilla are my favourite dressers.

Cornwall73 · 06/07/2018 17:20

I’m sure I read in Hello that not showing toes was a style guideline for the new royal. Must look it up!

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/07/2018 17:26

The Queen's figure in that photo @SenecaFalls! She looks so lovely.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 06/07/2018 17:30

Kate's sandal history @Cornwall73! I wouldn't put it past Hello to make up something that everyone later just assumed was a fact!! Grin

Wow the Queen looks amazing in that picture, and she has the tiniest waist ever but still has breasts.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/07/2018 18:15

Judging from old photos, a lot of women at that time had a similar figure. Maybe it was foundation garments because women don't seem to be built like that any more. Kate and Meghan are both very slender but I don't think either of them would be able to fit into the tiny-waisted gowns the Queen and Princess Margaret wore in their youth.
