Seeing as the Spencer wedding thread in S&B was so popular, here's a thread to discuss all royal fashion.

(If we could stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women wearing them then that would be great!)

Great picture of her SleepingstandingUp

evilharpy · 29/06/2018 10:46

Fergie is stunning in that photo SleepingStandingUp.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/06/2018 11:53

You're right @user1457017537, 80s fashion was hideous. Even Diana wore her fair share of clangers when you look back. But because she was tall and slim she could get away with it more than Fergie.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/06/2018 12:49

The only really good look in the 80s was the Dynasty look and that was relative.
Although that picture of Diana shows what a Rockstar she was in her day. All those photographers clamouring for one photo.

I completely forgot that Fergie can fly a helicopter. She got flying lessons as a wedding gift so that she could talk to Andrew about his work.

I hope that history looks on her a bit kindly. To be fair the woman has chutzpah and has stayed on good terms with her Ex. Credit to her.

They are definitely good examples of co parenting after a split. Of course it helps that she's never going to be chasing him for CS or half the money for new school shoes

WipsGlitter · 29/06/2018 13:17

I think he has had to bail her out financially several times!!

I never thought I'd be defending Prince Andrew but fair play to him.
I don't think my dh would be sticking around if my toes were sucked by my financial advisor - the photographs which were then printed in the papers while we stayed with my inlaws Shock.
Plus he has bailed her out financially.

I know a similar situation in real life where the husband is sticking by his wife despite public betrayal which is ongoing Shock

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/06/2018 13:53

They seem to have done a good job with their daughters too - I mean, they both seem like nice enough young women and I've never heard anything bad about them apart from Beatrice slicing Ed Sheran's cheek while attempting to faux knight James Blunt!

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/06/2018 13:57

Fergie and Andrew have known each other from childhood too, remember? So they were clearly good friends before their marriage and have continued to be good friends.

I think I might need to ask HQ to rename this thread "Royal style (resorting to royal gossip when there's no dresses to discuss)" Grin Grin

Yeah, I know there's criticism of them being work shy but I think by and large they quietly get on with life, have a mixed set of mates, don't create and negative head lines and seem like a really close family.

Feel a bit sorry for B in that I think little sisters wedding with have the media questioning anyone she's seen out with as surely she must want to get married now too!!!!

Can't wait to see the dress

ajandjjmum · 29/06/2018 15:30

There has been quite a lot of criticism over the years regarding some of the friends they have chosen.

I feel sorry too for Beatrice - particularly as her long-standing boyfriend married very shortly after splitting with her, having been together for years.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/06/2018 15:54

I do feel a bit sorry for Beatrice as not only is her younger sister getting married, her ex was engaged to his new girlfriend within a year of them breaking up. That's got to sting just a little bit, even if their split was mutual.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 29/06/2018 15:54

Hah snap @ajandjjmum. I didn't realised they'd already married.

Ignore the article but there is a slideshow part way down of European Royals in pretty clothes

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/06/2018 16:21

I love the dramatic headlines the Express used. And they're better than anyone else at making a story out of a non-story, see https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/style/980562/Camilla-Parker-Bowles-Duchess-of-Cornwall-last-news-today-pictures

Pictures of the Swedish royals always make me laugh as Prince Carl-Philip has basically married a younger version of his mum!

OP posts:
SleepingStandingUp · 29/06/2018 17:40

But it's so insightful, I mean - that closing paragraph alone just changed my life

"The Duchess is a lucky woman to have a husband who can afford such lavish jewellery"

Tomorrow I too shall wear purple and plan the downfall of Williate! I too shall be queen one day in my purple skirt and my lavish jewellery

pallisers · 29/06/2018 17:58

I love the Greek "royal family". Imagine going through life saying "Hello, Ex King Constantine here". Or calling yourself Crown Prince Pavlos just because. When his dad goes, will he become Ex King Pavlos or just King Pavlos? Are they creating a dynasty of Ex Kings?

eloisesparkle · 29/06/2018 19:34

Crown Prince Pavlos married one of three American sisters who all 'married well'. Smile
The Miller sisters married a prince, a Getty and Diane von Furstenburgs son. another prince.
Their father set up Duty Free shops with Chuck Feeney and both men were mega rich.
Robert Miller is still involved but Chuck Feeney sold his stake.
Chuck Feeney is a philanthropist and has given away about $8 billion to good causes, in particular promoting peace in Northern Ireland.

I am full of useless information

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/06/2018 19:35

I know, and Marie-Chantal had the cheek to bitch about Letizia, who is a queen, and she's not even a real princess! The Greeks just embarrass themselves by using their royal titles, even more so their spouses.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 29/06/2018 19:36

@eloisesparkle That poor Miller sister who couldn't bag a prince and had to settle for just a Getty...

If Edith Wharton was still alive today I think she’d feel right at home on this thread!

petrolpump28 · 29/06/2018 22:36

isnt von Furtything friends with Wills?

SleepingStandingUp · 30/06/2018 00:26

She looks nice, he looks... well, someone needs to remind him he's on a date night with a PRINCESS!!!!
