Ha snap Kittens but love our differing reasoning!

auberginesrus · 16/07/2018 11:33

Mrs R can you send me your address again? I've lost my messages from you since you name changed!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/07/2018 11:56

Thanks Aubergines, I've been dipping in and out over the years. I used topost on MakeupAlley and have the perfume collection to prove it.

Haven't been very adventurous recently though, have been using up a few stashed bottles.

Grin typo fail! I meant I can’t afford MoaT Fennel

aubergine were scent twins- good choice whatever the weather, but this one sure has staying power in the heat. It does slightly remind me of insect repellent but I think it smells good and I like that it’s a sort of lemon Chypre

Have had wax, now going to have pedicure and a lie down before trying to squeeze all the stuff we need to take into cabin bags for our Ryanair flight early doors tomorrow (while trying to put the recent Ryanair incident in Germany to back of mind as well as the planned strike due on our return flight date). Wish me luck Wink

Fragonard Etoile today. It’s a lovely fresh lemony scent. Bought it on a tour of the factory a couple of years ago. Lasts well.

I have a basket pending on one of the sites mentioned but there’s more month than money atm.

Judydreamsofhorses · 16/07/2018 21:20

SOTD Diptyque Philosykos. Yesterday was Caldey Island Lavender.

kittens hope your trip goes well. mrsR hope you’re doing okay? We had quite a bit of rain this morning, I was devastated!

Can I join please. I know nothing about perfume. I smell stuff on paper strips but don’t really buy stuff ever as I remain to be convinced that i’ll still like it at the end of the day.
I’d love to smell yummy and develop a small but perfectly formed collection of what suits me...
I signed up to scent addict and put on a load of stuff recommended on the other thread and therefore flowerbomb is arriving tomorrow. I haven’t told my husband! Hopefully he’ll notice in a good way and i’d love to get compliments at work...
any advice as to what I should fill my scent addict list with...?

Spotty I always spray a scent on my neck. It’s the only way to know if it will give me a headache.

Spottybotty14 · 16/07/2018 21:40

I love Jo malone lime basil and coriander but it has no staying power on me for some reason. Before that I had Hugo Boss orange but it changed on me I think and I don’t like it anymore. I can’t stand Angel.
Nothing too sweet or too musky. I think I like fresh.
I have a job where i’m Sometimes in close proximity to people and I think smelling of perfume (but not too overwhelming) is nice. You smell nice but impersonal IYSWIM....

Spottybotty14 · 16/07/2018 21:41

But actually i’m really open to destroying my preconceptions and being surprised!

Ooo thanks i’ll Check those out. I’ve had CK one in the past too. Again, I think it has possibly changed on me.
Not sure what i’m looking for to be honest but willing to try a few and be prepared for some successes and some failures!

DoubleNegativePanda · 16/07/2018 22:03

I've just signed up to a sample subscription and already found a new favorite in Apsu by Ulrich Lang. I've got Tocca Simone arriving this week; not sure how I'll like it as it sounds a bit sweet for me, but hey it's summer.

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/07/2018 22:21

SOTE is Amouage Opus VIII. Spicy jasmine and benzoin, quite heady stuff and probably a bit much for a warm evening tbh. As with most of the Amouage scents I've tried, very luxurious and well-done, but demands attention and therefore not always an easy wear, depending on one's mood.

3GreenBottles · 16/07/2018 22:40

SOTE Fracas.

Been living in clean/fresh/citrus/summery scents for weeks and had a perimenopausal Fuck It moment.

Gorgeous. No regrets.

3GreenBottles · 16/07/2018 22:41

Even thinking about spritzing some Rochas Femme for bed 😆

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 16/07/2018 22:43

I tried Hugo Boss Orange today but it instantly melted away then I tried Lady Million but I'm not sure it's very "me"

CountFosco · 16/07/2018 23:01

Spotty if you like fresh the Elizabeth Arden Green Tea is nice (and cheap!) in the heat, or Clinique Happy is orangy and pretty easy to get a sample of. I've been wearing ckOne in the heat and it has been coping very well. A lot of us on here are fans of Mary Greenwell Lemon which is a very bitter lemony chypre. Atelier Cologne do a lot of citrussy perfumes that are lovely but not the longest lasting, JohnnyLouLou sells them but you can get a very reasonably price sample set of all their perfumes for €30. 4160Tuesday Rhubarb and Citrus is also popular on here and they also do nice sample sets and (hallelujah) 9ml bottles. So many perfumes, so little time!

CountFosco · 16/07/2018 23:07

SotD was Fleur d'oranger baie rose (another reasonaby priced citrus that I don't mind spraying with abandon). SotE was a sample of J'Adore in Joy. Pink minger. Seems to have disappeared so considering what to wear to bed. Swithering between something like Fire or Salome or going fruity like Rosa Ribes.
