Thanks, I looked online but you all did seem to have cleaned it up.

Will look at eBay.

PersisFord · 15/07/2018 17:50

Oooh ok. So if, for example, I buy one of those 4160 perfumes and don’t like it I could give it to one of you? I have, over the years, thrown away so many unloved bottles of perfume due to their cats wee quality. I wouldn’t be so hesitant if I could find them a good home!

I’m going to have a little spree. I’ll report back!

MrsLucas · 15/07/2018 17:54

With you Blue on the weather being a marvelous driver of multiple perfume changes daily! (Although I didn't really need an excuse...).

I'm finding it's particularly good for trying vintages, as any off top notes speed away in miliseconds on hot skin. So I have been enjoying Casaque and Ecusson (both Jean d'Albret) thanks to the generosity of Calm. Casaque is a marvel - no notes on Fragrantica but a reviewer detects hyacinth, honeysuckle, sandalwood and civet - sounds about right to me.

UnnecessaryFennel · 15/07/2018 18:12

Chardonnay it is worth checking in-store if you have a local branch of the Fragrance Shop; it's not a well-known scent so they might still have bottles lurking. The MG line is really criminally cheap there. If you don't have any luck, pm me and I'll send you a bit - then you'll know whether it's worth splashing out on an ebay bottle.

Persis don't forget you can do the £25 sample set from 4160T - just choose the ones you like the sound of. Or do the 40% off deal for the Mrs Gloss ones (the Rhubarb/Custard ones) and add any other 2.25ml samples you fancy to that order to get them a bit cheaper. If you see what I mean!

UnnecessaryFennel · 15/07/2018 18:13

And yes, report back and I'm sure there will be takers/swappers for anything you don't like.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/07/2018 18:14

Thanks Fennel, will have a look.

It looks similar to YSL Nu, which was a big favourite of mine.

PersisFord · 15/07/2018 18:35

unnecessary I’ve just done exactly that! Got the #MrsGloss with the 40% discount then testers of R&Custard, the Tokyo one and one called Holiday something. And charged it to DH’s PayPal as I can’t remember my password. He is the main source of the languishing bottles as he likes to buy it in duty free when he travels for work, interrogates the people on the fragrance counter and then brings it home triumphantly....only for it to end badly!

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/07/2018 18:42

Yesterday’s SOTD was Larmes du Desert, squirted at Duty Free. Rather lovely, but spendy

MrsLucas · 15/07/2018 19:25

Perhaps not so similar to Nu Chardonnay - Fire has a much warmer and woodier sort of incense note. Both lovely.

Nice to see you MrsS.

CountFosco · 15/07/2018 20:53

Went into town this afternoon and thought I should take advantage of the Guerlain counter while I still can so tried Shalimar. Too vanilla on me but clearly the classiest vanilla I've ever tried and it is very nice but Herba Fresca, Vetiver and Jicky are all higher on my FB list. Might prefer it when the weather is cooler.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/07/2018 20:58

Any smokiness?

Motoko · 15/07/2018 21:13

Persis another place to get samples is Feel Unique in their Pick-n-Mix section. Each month, you can choose 5 samples of make up/skincare/perfume, and just pay £3.95 p+p. When I ordered last month, they had quite a lot of perfume samples to choose from.

MrsLucas · 15/07/2018 22:03

Chardonnay - it's slightly smoky, slightly spicy, but mostly about the oudh. It's a big, (oudh) woody-rose, with a warm leathery-amber base.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/07/2018 22:03

Thank you!

BlueKittens · 15/07/2018 23:25

Sote is Memoires of a trespasser- this is so, so good! Going to treat myself to a full bottle of this one day.

Welcome back mrsS! Welcome newbies

Fools I’m sending you samples to your U.K. address tomorrow. Apologies for sending later than promised...

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/07/2018 08:30

Hi MrsS, good to see you back!

Kittens, isn't MoaT just the best? A FB is definitely on my list when I win the lottery because I'm skinter than a skint thing atm

SOTD isn't perfume but Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse - got a cheap bottle from allbeauty.com the other day (can't imagine why I have no money left this month...) and I already love it.

3GreenBottles · 16/07/2018 08:46

I doused myself liberally in Sexiest Scent before bed last night. Not sure on SOTD yet. I might have a dig through my samples this morning, as got some free time.

Gearing up to be 31 degrees here today 😝

3GreenBottles · 16/07/2018 09:09

I’m in a sample of MFK Aqua Vitae.
Down as a citrus woody aromatic on Fragrantica. I’d say that’s about right.

Fresh, citrus opening then quickly gets woody with a whiff of tobacco and something herbal I can’t pinpoint...but makes it slightly medicinal smelling.

Definitely not a winner for me, but it’s quite light so will replace with something else later.

BleachedWail · 16/07/2018 09:22

This is probably a silly question but I am trying to find a perfume you dab on rather than spray! Poison and the other big heady scents used to come in bottles with little glass ‘dabbers’ .... is this a thing of the past? I’m after a deep vanilla scent I can dab just a touch on!

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/07/2018 09:38

Bleached, you'd probably have to go vintage for dabbers now as most perfumes are now sold as sprays (stops the air getting in) and dabbers are far less popular now. Ebay is probably your best bet - eg a splash bottle of vintage Shalimar...not cheap though!

Alternatively some places will sell you samples with dabbers - Les Senteurs and Notino spring to mind as online sources that have sent me dabber bottles in the past.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/07/2018 09:44

SOTD is Eau Claire des Merveilles.

Someone gave me a bottle they didn’t want anymore, which was great because I love it and it’s d/ced.

BlueKittens · 16/07/2018 11:23

Chanel exclusifs extraits (15ml) are dabbers. They are beyond amazing and one dab is all you need. About £130 from the airport Shock but they would last you yonks as the elixir is super concentrated.

Fennel yes it’s wonderful and I can afford a bottle either Sad

SOTD Mary greenwell Lemon - good in this heat as I pack for holiday (not a fun job in my very hot and humid house!)

auberginesrus · 16/07/2018 11:24

Have been MIA for a few days, v busy at work and home, and a bit off perfume (I think the hot weather was affecting my sense of smell!)

Have just caught up on thread - welcome to new posters but beware that this thread can prove v expensive, as I have discovered from personal experience Grin

SOTD is MG Lemon - suiting a slightly cooler day and we have rain forecast for later (boo). Am working at home today so will do my level best to get to the post office at lunchtime Mrs R
