Hello lovelies. New thread has prompted me to get my perfume mojo back. Ealing Green today, which reminds me it's only 2 weeks till I start my UK stint so can buy things which cost less than the delivery cost.
You 4160 lovers can make me a list, remembering I love Ealing Green and London 1969, don't mind Doe In the Snow though it is a tad too sweet and hated Paris, Buddawood, Tarts, Lion Cupboard, Lady Rose Lion. No pressure then! Will definitely try Ssotp to see what the fuss is about, and (is it) Rhubarb Citrus?
I want sharp greens or skanky musks, and none of that peachy bit Grin
There are some quite offensive comments on the vile perfume thread, makes me want to wear Angel, Poison and Obsession all at once and run around pursuing them all day.

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/06/2018 16:10

There are some really, really DULL perfumes being worshipped on that thread. And yes, I know that makes me a hideous snob. I don't care.

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 16:31

Me too piam!

How could they dislike obsession!????

I can't wait for you to try ssotp 😁

I've been in bed. Fundraiser went well but I'm so tired!

Calmanddance · 16/06/2018 16:44

I’ve read the other perfume thread. There are some offensively ageist comments on there. I’m an old lady and I like sweet perfume (obv not all). I think it’s great that people have different tastes in perfume. 😊 Have drenched myself in Britney Spears’ Rocker Femme in protest. 😡

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 17:02

Someone criticised knowing by EL.

I left the thread

PlausibleSuit · 16/06/2018 17:04

Angel is one of my favourites. And A*Men. I do prefer a cool day and a light hand with both but they can be magical.

I must admit to not loving 1 Million but that's a subjective thing; lots of people do love it and that's just dandy.

The back-of-the-cabinet one I seldom admit to owning - until now - is Elizabeth Taylor Passion. But I just love it. It's so brash and 80s but there's something really punchy and likeable about it. To me anyway

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 17:05

ET Passion is lovely!

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 17:05

I'm off to drench myself 4160 sexiest scent...

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/06/2018 17:23

And they slagged Youth Dew Shock

PIAM you absolutely must try Rhubarb & Citrus. It's blardy marvellous stuff.

I bought the 100ml bottle of Fire Blush Plus...Davidoff Cool Water for ds's birthday, since it gets a big thumbs up from Luca. So, y'know, had to make up the postage somehow.

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 17:29

Fennel 😮😮😮😮😡

washewihersen · 16/06/2018 17:34

Ooooh thank you MrsLucas you've given me loads to go on! I was eyeing up the sample sets so I'll go through your list and see what I can squeeze in. When I've got paid!

PlausibleSuit · 16/06/2018 17:44

Heading out for dinner. SOTE is Cartier La Panthère.

auberginesrus · 16/06/2018 17:49

wash to Mrs L's 4160s list I would add:

London 1969 - hippyish Citrus, starts fresh then the patchouli comes through
Ealing Green - gorgeous green scent
What I did on my Holidays- v unusual blend of mint, coconut, candy floss and vanilla, smells like the British seaside but not sweet
Sexiest scents - woods and flowers, v lovely

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 17:52

Tbh when someone starts a post with "I wear la vie st belle" I'm afraid I rather switch off 😯😮😣🤣

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 18:04

My 4160 list:

Sexiest scent on the planet ever
Sexiest scent extrait
Extra sexiest scent
you get the gist....🤣
Another kiss by the fireside
Mrsgloss outdoors
Mrsgloss indoors
Mrsgloss lemon sherbert
(Mrsgloss are 40% off atm with the code mrsgloss)

Others I've liked;
Sunshine and pancakes
Creamy vanilla crumble
Mother nature's naughty daughters
Silk lace and choc

ThenCameTheFools · 16/06/2018 18:09

Yep. And the criticisms of utter timeless classics like Aromatics, YD, Knowing and Rive Gauche I noticed etc (as well as the absolutely groundbreaking Angel/Poison/Obsession- love them or hate them, they changed perfumery forever) while the same person is saying how lovely LVEB is, is, erm, a bit funny really.

I'll shut my gob now, because I don't want our lovely corner of MN to become bitchy, but...y'know....it's like when someone starts a thread asking for perfumes with a specific note, or feel, and a hundred people say "I'm wearing X at the moment". You may well be, but the OP didn't ask what you like, they asked for something specific! It's like me asking for sandal recommendations and someone telling me what bag to buy!

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 18:15

I shall spray my obsession with abandon next time I wear it!...
(Like I do everything tbf)

ThenCameTheFools · 16/06/2018 18:40

I have had a shower and am now in vintage Dioressence.

Yes, it may well be old lady. But my god, I feel magnificent. Grin

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 18:46

But you ARE magnificent

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/06/2018 18:56

For any lurkers wearing LVEB, we are jolly friendly and non-judgemental, honest - but we do also have Opinions Grin. My Opinion, for example, is that Youth Dew and Aromatics Elixir are utterly wonderful classics that should be treasured...although I do agree that a light hand is appropriate.

God. MG Fire has been fabulous today. I'm already not regretting my impulse purchase earlier.

MrsLucas · 16/06/2018 18:59

Haven't read that thread. Maybe an intervention is needed?

Wash - meant to say have you tried Miller Harris Lumiere Doree? Worth a sniff if you like Neroli Portofino. There are some affordable little bottles out there (sometimes twinned with Etui Noir, a very lovely iris leather).

Plausible - do you like Ungaro's Diva? That's another 80s powerhouse I love. Outrageous amounts of civet and sweet borderline urinous honey. But it's a relatively wholesome sort of skank. Anyone who likes Zoologoist's Civet (or Femme) should give it a whirl.

CountFosco · 16/06/2018 19:04

SotD Myrrhiad. Soft and spicy but unfortunately too much vanilla on me. DH told me I smelt of icecream.

UnnecessaryFennel · 16/06/2018 19:07

I've had gin, so feel free to ignore me, but sometimes I really think we should revisit the idea of Perfumista Cottage for a weekend Grin

MrsLucas · 16/06/2018 19:13

Well said Fennel.

I'm feeling full of love for Guerlain and their sales people today. I popped into a big store to sniff Chant D'Aromes and Vol de Nuit - made clear I was just browsing. They were unbelievable welcoming, said they loved people coming in who were interested in their classics, and to pop in any time and test away to my hearts content. How lovely is that? Flowers for Guerlain.

Thought both Cd'A and VdN were interesting. Absolutely love the Cd'A dry-down but wasn't sure about the opening. Vol de Nuit is gorgeous - but not sure if I'd go with Apres L'Ondee in preference. I need to read up on the notes and then go and try them again Smile.

MrsLucas · 16/06/2018 19:14

Yeah, let's do it Fennel. (And I haven't even had any gin yet).
