I'd def check out 4160 Tuesdays or bloom and get a sample pack.
Good luck!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 17/06/2018 17:49

I've literally never heard of 4160

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 17:54

Check them out!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 17/06/2018 18:07

That's Love And Life Stories ordered!

I wanted them all though! Grin

SwedishEdith · 17/06/2018 18:11

Teeny - "Welcome Edith are you actually Swedish? "

Only in my head.

MrStark - I like a few of the ones you like so you might also like Dolce Vita - Dior or Mon Guerlain.

I've just been putting my faves into Fragantica to see if there was a theme - there wasn't. Grin. I went to JL earlier for a mooch. Lovely assistant but I wish I could be just left alone to sniff and try on my skin. I can only smell the card on those samples.

UnnecessaryFennel · 17/06/2018 18:28

SOTE is Memoirs of a Trespasser. I just LOVE this, smoky, grubby vanilla and cognac...reminds me of the last weekend that dp and I had all to ourselves Wink. I might ask him if he wants to get me a bottle as an easy birthday present.

My 100mls of Fire arrived, as did ds's bottle of Cool Water. They sent samples of one of the Paco Rabanne Million ones for men (can't remember which) which I actually rather enjoyed the first few minutes of - quite a rich, nutty accord but then dried down to meh-standard 'aftershave', and Armani Because It's You, which I have a feeling I might actually quite like even though it'll be a PM Blush

MrStark, hope you enjoy them! I really love Captured by Candlelight (it's my Christmas Day perfume) and MrsR is a huge fan of Sexiest Scent. There are lots of fans of Shazam!, Silk Lace & Chocolate and Sex Goddess here as well, so you've made a great choice.

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 18:34

Sexiest scent is GORGEOUS

PlausibleSuit · 17/06/2018 19:15

Might have just ordered a couple of Bloom sample packs myself Blush

And I have a 4160 sample pack lined up and ready to go but I really need to use some up first so I haven't purchased yet. I'm very intrigued, though.

SOTE is Maison (Martin) Margiela Beach Walk.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 17/06/2018 19:24

Yes I went off the names but there were SO many others I wanted to sniff. If I end up spending hundreds of pounds I'm blaming all of you. Halo

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 19:37

Yeah.....might be an idea to put your credit card in the freezer...😁

ThenCameTheFools · 17/06/2018 19:59

Stark, hello, I think you'd like 4160 Doe in the snow and Paris 1948. They've got a fizzy peachy thing going initially which reminds me of Yvresse. Reformulated Y by YSL might be another.

Day at MIL's country villa today witj me being a model Italian wife and frying courgette flowers while the menfolk picked apricots, figs and bitter cherries. Have ginormous buckets of fruit to do things with tomorrow.

Was in Eau du Sud. Like my two-timing with Diorella and Dioressence I can never decide whether I prefer Eau du Sud or Eau d'Hadrien best.

Judydreamsofhorses · 17/06/2018 20:23

SOTD is Kiehl’s Musk. I’ve not even left the house today, I just had a massive bath and put on new pyjamas (and perfume) instead of getting showered and dressed.

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 20:25

Busy busy week ahead (again)
Sote mrsgloss indoors

MrsLucas · 17/06/2018 20:25

Plausible, Then is our vintage expert. There is so much protection for buyers on eBay, I think it's pretty safe, especially if you stick to low value items and ask questions up front.

It is remarkable how many wonderful things you can pick up for under a tenner if you are prepared to be patient. Barbara Herman's Scent and Subversion is a great read on 20th Century scent - and provides a good jumping off point.

PlausibleSuit · 17/06/2018 20:30

Oh fabulous, thank you.

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 20:34

I must try and sniff that judy

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 17/06/2018 20:41

OH FOOLS thanks so much - I don't really think I've ever moved on from Champagne it was my first proper perfume at 16 and my first two real loves both told me that they were drawn to me by the smell.

MrsLucas · 17/06/2018 20:42

Hi Floof - Eau de Guerlain, or Imperiale, or Terre D'Hermes? The Guerlain's are on offer on Allbeauty.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 17/06/2018 20:50

Floofy, it's a spray for your gin glass - you spritz it on before you put the gin etc in and it just gives a lovely waft of smell/flavour. I have been spraying it on myself too, like a spicy gin-soaked floozy but am hoping to find a real perfume eventuallyGrin

auberginesrus · 17/06/2018 20:58

Evening all, you have been busy! Welcome to the newbies but be prepared to fall down the rabbit hole - I knew (and owned) very little just a few months ago.

Back from a lovely but tiring weekend in Dublin. Have been wearing Eau des Merveilles from my duty free Hermes set. It's gorgeous and I have been eyeing up full bottles on all beauty already Blush

Didn't make it to Brown Thomas but had a quick browse of the large perfume dept in Arnotts while dh watched football. Exchange rate meant prices were v expensive though Sad

MrsLucas · 17/06/2018 21:39

Talking of gin, SotD #1 was vintage Carven Eau Vive. Mandarin heavy citrus/aromatic with stacks of juniper.

SotD #2, inspired by the public transport thread, was vintage Opium. Gorgeous, opulent stuff - I notice quite a few older women wear this in the daytime - and smell great.

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 21:50

Oooh opium

NOW you're talking...😁

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 22:29

Can any of you answer a question?

When I was in the Belfast HofF a few weeks ago they had mmm by the fireplace.

The don't seem to have it online.

Can you order from particular stores?

PlausibleSuit · 18/06/2018 08:14

aubergines I love the Merveilles range. I have Elixir and Bleue - both well worth a splash. Bleue in particular is a thing of beauty; I find it serious but calming.

mrsr I've only ever seen the Margielas at counters, not so much online. Although John Lewis often has Fireplace on its website, if that's any use?

My local HoF is Oxford Street, one of the ones that'll be closing. Sad Goodness knows what's going to happen to the site, it's enormous and about as prime retail space as you can get.

PlausibleSuit · 18/06/2018 08:24

I'm training clients this morning, so SOTD for now is soap and enthusiasm. Hopefully.
