oh, i do like those flamingo print shorts but i think they'd be too slim over the hip for me, i have rather large hips, always have done even at my slimmest and shorts/trousers are the hardest thing for me to find to fit, usually why i'm in skirts or dresses! and thank you Shop i am studiously ignoring him even though he is winding me up intensely, i can't be doing with his apparent need for drama, i was outside getting my laundry in and he asked me why i was ignoring him! I hadn't even seen he was out there and it's not my job to be his chat buddy!

J crew don’t seem to do black shorts? So now I’m looking at Boden Richmond shorts? Am so bewildered by lengths!

Or Hobbs Nina shorts? God it’s a whole new world. Help!

7 inch is quite long shop . My Boden ones are 4 inches. I think abroad it’s acceptable to go short. Although obviously your legs are infinitely longer than mine.

queenC where are you measuring from on your shorts to work out the length of them? I have no idea how long/short mine are. they obviously cover my bum but are very short on the leg and i reaaaaaaaaalllllly don't have long legs at all

Shop you have great legs 3 inch - super short or 4 inch would be good for you. I'm 5" 2 and wear 4 inch shorts I wear very similar ones to the Rachel Chino shorts any longer than that and I look like something off Dad's Army

Just looked JCrew shorts are rubbish - well for me anyway I like my short quite simple. Next have denim shorts in varying lengths, you can't go wrong with a pair of demin shorts I have mid blue boy shorts

One ditto Shop at a particularly bloated time of the month a Ukranian colleague asked me if I was pregnant the rest of my British colleagues were aghast, she wasn't a malicious person, in fact she was a lovely person, I knew she wasn't being rude - just "direct/blunt." I brushed it off and didn't take it personally although I still remember the conversation many years later.

I’m sorted for denim shorts (have 3 pairs). Am definitely listing after more tailored black ones. Historically Biden stuff was always a poor fit for me (gaping at the back of the waist on trousers) but I am going back 5+ years so perhaps things have changed.
Am now on the hunt for Valentino lookalikes for £50ish

Shop you can definitely COULD wear them, you have amazing legs! I am always envious of your legs compared to my short stubby chunky things!

Could you measure your denim shorts shop and look for something in a comparable length? I would think Boden 4 inch would be perfect too. (Though agree that their trouser sizing isn’t always a great fit. I could do with an 11in their Richmond shorts.)

shop try the boden ones. They definitely seem to have changed the fit since I bought mine 2 years ago.

shorts for shop £55 in Hobbs not sure if they are navy though?? maybe too long? black but maybe too casual?

Thanks Everyone I like the first Hobbs ones but they are definitely a very dark navy (same as the skirt I just bought) which seems to be impossible to match any other navy too but very definitely isn't black. It's like someone at Hobbs HO decided their target audience should never wear black
I'll wait for a Boden code and try those first I think. I also spotted a pair last night on Banana Republic.
All while I frantically EBay a kidney to buy the Valentino ones.

I was just thinking how there seems to be a real gap in the market for somewhere that does really good plain basics, then I remembered arket and found these black shorts in arket £45. Have a look on the promo code thread shop as there always seems to be a Boden code on there. Though there’s 25% of mini Boden at the moment so there might not be any standard 20% off codes.
