shop call off the search! :)

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 10/05/2018 09:47

Better pics here, looks like the first link is the same item restocked.

maradesbois · 10/05/2018 10:01

Shop I think these gap ones look quite good. Saw some on ASOS as well. Congrats on holiday booking too, lovely thing to look forward to, your hotel looked amazing in last years pics.

One flatmate sounds like a knobhead, don’t engage with his stupid comments. Exciting that your holiday is so close!

kitty I am prone to bloated stomach too and have had comments like that in the past, more so when I was slimmer actually. Even when not malicious it isn’t exactly a confidence boost though.

My hard work job hunting is paying off, have an interview next week with a company would really like to work for. Will be wearing interview outfit purchased last year - navy apc slightly cropped trousers & apc linen ruffle front top probably with smart flats.

Well done on the interview Mara, will keep fingers crossed for you!

Everyone I can't see the mini boden offer on the website, do you know if there's a code? :)

One, your housemate seems very weird and rude even with the culture difference!

Everyonelovessparkles · 10/05/2018 11:51

blair 2FM7 should give you 25% off mini Boden. Smile

I have been working at home mara and my tan (in the loosest definition of the term!) is coming on nicely Grin. I only go to the office when I need to! Fingers crossed on the interview too.

Mexico holiday sounds great shop. Me and DH went pre DC and are keen to go back with them.

Everyonelovessparkles · 10/05/2018 11:56

How about these shop for some spinning around? Smile

shopafrolic · 10/05/2018 12:30

Thanks you lovely lot.
Everyone your Kylie ref made me LOL
Those Zara ones are great Blair - I really like the silver zip - will order along with the GAP ones that Mara and Everyone linked. Flowers
Mara great news about the interview, outfit sounds fab too. Will keep everything crossed for you. I need to rearrange our catch up too. Sorry for radio silence.
Lib how are you doing?

shopafrolic · 10/05/2018 13:12

Mara love that insta rec Flowers

AmberNectarine · 10/05/2018 14:11

He sounds like an unbearable prick One. I'd probably say 'gosh you're right, look at the time, it's c*nt o'clock already!' followed by a hard stare at him. But then I'm not known for my diplomacy.

AmberNectarine · 10/05/2018 14:13

And, call it a hunch, but I bet he's single, despite knowing all about women, right?

shopafrolic · 11/05/2018 07:51

Morning all.
I ordered an off the shoulder blue Splendid playsuit from the Outnet which I now can't find to link. Tried it on last night and I need to finally accept that off the shoulder doesn't work for me. Not quite sure why...... but I need to give up the idea. Back it goes.
Still, it frees up the cash to get the shorts ordered so not all bad :)
Happy Friday Voguettes. The sun's still shining.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 11/05/2018 10:13

as best i know amber he's currently single. No surprise there though.

shopafrolic · 11/05/2018 11:09

I checked the inseam on my GAP denim shorts and they are 4.5 cm so I've ordered the GAP shorts in the TALL (5cm) which they say is for people 5ft9 and above. Have also ordered the Zara ones. Will report back. Thanks for all the searched ladies. :)

It might be the classic in you shop ( am I right thinking you’re a dramatic classic?). I can’t show too much skin either as part ingenue. I very occasionally wear spaghetti straps/strapless stuff on holiday but it doesn’t really suit.

I need some workwear inspiration. I mainly wear jeans to the office but on days when I see patients I like to dress smarter. In winter I tend to wear a dress with tights and in summer a dress and bare legs. I struggle in this weather (I know it’s cold enough to wear tights but I refuse to in May!!!). I wore black trousers today but really don’t like them much anymore so my other option is navy trousers. But I have mainly navy tops so often the navy doesn’t match up so looks wrong.
Those of you that do trousers in a smart/casual workplace what do you wear?

shopafrolic · 11/05/2018 19:36

You’re probably right QueenC - yes Dramatic Classic. Can’t help on the workplace stuff anymore I’m afraid. I had kept all my work clothes “just in case” but they all look so dated now I must get rid.
I found this fab Great Plains jumpsuit on offer while I was browsing.

shopafrolic · 11/05/2018 19:38

I’m tempted by this one but it might be all kinds of hideous on me.

shopafrolic · 11/05/2018 19:39

And I saw this dress and thought of Lib

AmberNectarine · 11/05/2018 22:34

I recently got some high waisted, wide leg trousers from the Ines de la Fressange collection at Uniqlo and they have become a firm favourite. Otherwise a pencil skirt is always appropriate.

AmberNectarine · 11/05/2018 22:35

But I never don't wear tights to work, I just switch to nude. Private school beat it into me that bare legs or arms at work were tantamount to genocide.

Stokey · 12/05/2018 09:05

Still wearing tights here too QueenC although did ditch them on the really hot days (maybe my school wasn't as strict as Amber's?). Was amazed at how much flesh was on display at work . Lots of spaghetti straps & backless tops.

On the trousers front, I got some Boden wide-leg 3/4 length that are good in this transition period, & some thin crepe ones from Stories last year (both black). Also midi skirts, though I've only got a dark denim one which is borderline casual.

I may be able to make the 30th Mara. Have pencilled it in, so keep me in the loop. Great news about your interview, best of luck.

Lovely links Shop, you could totally rock that jumpsuit. Seen a couple of people wearing similar, I like them.

Hugs Lib, settling in to everything new is amazingly hard. You're bound to wobble now & then.

I went to my book club on Tuesday & my friend was wearing the same Hush dress as me, just she had the red one & I had the black version - can't link but it's loose with stars (hers had sharks on it)! I would recommend their loose dresses as easy summer wear - they cover your shoulders and everything.

Although they did just send me an email of the 5 dresses I need for the summer, 4 of which you couldn't wear a bra with. Do shops think our boobs just vanish when the sun appears?

Everyonelovessparkles · 12/05/2018 09:58

queenc could you wear a cream / chino colour of trouser, like this from gap as this colour looks good with navy.

I like the Great Plains jump suit shop, and a bargain!

Hush dress sounds good stokey, I’ve never bought anything from hush but there seems to be a lot of love for them on MN (Though when reading that thread I did notice that a lot of posters sent back nearly half of what they order Hmm).

Went out for dinner with DH last night. Wore my pink DVF dress I got last year. First time I’ve worn it. I liked it. It would be perfect for a hot holiday where there’s a bit of a need for dressing up too! Though I woke up yesterday with swollen glands and a sore throat. It hurts every time I swallow and I’ve lost my appetite a bit. Still not great today but got MIL and SIL coming for lunch. Hmm

shopafrolic · 12/05/2018 10:54

I should have bought the Uniqlo jumpsuit before I linked it - sold out now in my size Hmm
Stokey boobs make summer dressing v tricky. Would love to see a link to your Hush dress if you find it.
I watched a house design programme last night and the homeowner had the most amazing zip up jumpsuit - ankle grazing, elastic at waist to give it some shape, collar and short sleeves - in almost a parachute silk type fabric. Would love to know where it was from.
