WideWebWitch · 13/05/2007 21:45

This is week 1 of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Right, a lot of us have these moron pedometers (copyright Sobernow)

Batters has This, we are waiting to hear if it's good, she was in a riot to get it

And we have recently been talking about the habits of highly skinny people, do add your own here.

Also, if you want some interesting reading, I'm an ageaholic by Christa d'Souza I thought she looked great for 46 on the cover, what did everyone else think?

Anyway, am off to bed now but welcome back oldies and hello to any new people.

unknownrebelbang · 13/05/2007 22:55

I need to get back into this, if only for the two weeks before we go away.

New start tomorrow.

moondog · 13/05/2007 23:00

Christa d'Souza is such an unappealing person. She writes drivel.Worst examples are in the Sunday Times.
Observer Woman supplement is shit too.

Can I just have a quick boast about doing Race for Life in 29 minutes and raising £127?
Also wore Factor 50 sunscreen.

Good brekkie these days is porridge but with 1/3 of it replaced by bran.Filling, healthy and low cal.

Smashing.

kazzia · 13/05/2007 23:10

Hope that porridge is made with Evian spring water not full cream milk.

moondog · 13/05/2007 23:17

Organic Welsh semi skimmed and good Welsh tap water.

yoyo · 13/05/2007 23:17

Moondog - as I now sport my iPod in the gym in my 6 weeks to 5km run quest can you list your Top 10 motivating tunes for those times when you just want to hit the stop buton? Well done on the Race for Life - I want to do something similar hence my gym query. Christa d'Souza is very irritating and I find her very boring too.

WWW - re:Hotel. We weren't staying there (stayed in fab SC farmhouse) but DH and older children had shot ahead and felt the urge for ice-cream. It did seem vv nice and the views were great. I like my food too much to go down the lettuce route (even with a lemon juice dressing!). Thanks for setting up the next 6 weeks. Not noticing huge benefits from the NO. 7 stuff by the way.

unknownrebelbang · 13/05/2007 23:37

pml, eye of the tiger reminds me of my first true lust.

Great list.

moondog · 13/05/2007 23:39

I psml as I play it. Always put it on for walk form changing rooms to gym, kick the door open and door air punches.

Unsurprisingly folk steer clear.

unknownrebelbang · 13/05/2007 23:40

lol at the image...

moondog · 13/05/2007 23:40

Am a very amusing woman.

Londonmamma · 14/05/2007 00:14

Should probably do this, though without great enthusiasm...Need to do more exercise and drink more water and be more happy

How about moisturiser with sunscreen, does that count?

Londonmamma · 14/05/2007 00:15

But it's past midnight and I'm still up so I've already broken one of the rules.

Will start properly tomorrow

DragonFaerie · 14/05/2007 00:20

May I join in please? I know I've broken the rule about bed tonight but I'll start tomorrow?

WideWebWitch · 14/05/2007 06:05

Moondog lol at eye of tiger image. I love Echo Beach. I bought S Times yesterday (for jobs page, don;t usually buy it) and there was a free punk cd to celebrate 30 yrs. I listened to Anarchy in the UK quite quietly in the kitchen while doing The Obs crossword with my glasses on my nose and felt v middle aged, surely it wasn't that long ago?

Oh right yoyo, ty. Hmmm at serum, so you don't reckon it's worth elbowing others out of the way to get the next batch?

Good luck everyone! I was asleep by 11 which is just as well as dd has a recent 5.45am waking habit. Oh well.

Welcome Dragonf!

moondog · 14/05/2007 07:54

I like that image www!
Hilarious!

(Am too thick to do even the Sun crossword so v. impressed.)

moondog · 14/05/2007 07:56

Just noticed my playlist includes the well known 'Chuck Beery'.
Shouldn't that read Chuck Leery given his penchant for leering at young girls on the loo through specially drilled holes in his offices.

(Go to work Moondog...)

turquoise · 14/05/2007 08:04

OK I'm back with a vengeance - hands so dripping in cream they're slipping on the keyboard.
Am pathetically excited to hear about the ST punk CD - I get mum's sunday papers by about thursday (full of underlinings and highlightings of childcare articles and singles websites usually ) so that will be something to look forward to.
Went to bed at 10.30 last night after no booze.
Sunscreen as a daily habit now, v good.
Have been a bit feeble on eating but dug out my old juicer last week - am on celery/kiwi/apple/lime and carrot/pear/ginger daily [virtuous].
Still not managing much exercise but feel all invigorated to start again.

glitterfairy · 14/05/2007 08:30

OK can I join? Have started a 7 day juice diet today adn do lods of exercise. Am being a bit rubbish about suncream so will do today! Need a bit of motivation at the moment in all my life so this will help I hope!

yoyo · 14/05/2007 09:25

Moondog - great suggestions. Most of them loaded (no AC/DC) so will just add them to playlist. DH messes about with it which is quite fun as I am never sure what I am going to get. My mind is abuzz with all the somgs that I could have on there now!

WWW - will ask friend if my complexion looks any better after 10 days of serum. I think not but am clinging to the hope that there is repairwork going on which I can't see. What did you think of all the articles? There was way too much to read yesterday and I didn't get through Saturday's papers either. Then DH started showing me Granta short stories. There just aren't enough hours in the day at the moment.

Okay. Am off to the gym. DDs said I was looking fitter today and DS said my tummy was getting hard! I can do 3 mins, I can do 3 mins....

Marina · 14/05/2007 09:27

I might bag my mum and dad's punk cd too. At 82 and 78 now they weren't frightfully keen first time round
My skin has improved out of all recognition since starting boot camp - not really down to more sleep, but the water alone is making me look less tired. My Moron (tm Sobernow) is keeping me on my toes during the week but now I need to up my activity levels at weekends too...wonder if a frenzied and increasingly irate "scorched plastic" toy-box and bedroom tidy burned off a few extra cals.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy week
I've lost five kilos so far so am a very happy boot camper for that reason alone!
