WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK 1 all over again, everyone welcome

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2007 21:45

This is week 1 of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Oh I'm really sorry to read that www. Really sorry. Have lots of wine this evening! If they've any sense they'll give you that more senior role. At least you've got a bit of notice so you can look around.

xxx

foxinsocks · 17/05/2007 19:00

oh I'm sorry www, what a pain.

kate100 · 17/05/2007 19:10

WWW that's terrible, you are completely justified in having all those yummy things, especially the wine, so sorry to hear about your job At least you do have some time to either get geared up for the more senior role or to look for something else.

Yoyo at your mum!!! I'm sure you will swan in one day all svelte and glam and show her you have not let yourself go at all.

Londonmama, I put moisturiser with SPF15 on after I've washed my face and then slather body lotion on everywhere, I try and put night cream on before I go to bed and put diprobase on at least my arms, but I often don't manage it

Prufrock, good luck with the policies. I'm currently mostly a SAHM, but when I was teaching policy writing was my least favourite thing.

I am feeling quite good today, I have drunk water, moisturised and eaten well, currently have chicken grilling to have for dinner.

Still not doing well on the walking, but the sun has finally come out this, so while I walked Daisy this morning in the rain, DH is out enjoying the beautiful evening with her

Couldn't get to sleep last night until after midnight as Dh was out, so I'm very tired today going to sleep at before 9 if I can as I'm driving to London tomorrow to see my best friend, to fall off the healthy living wagon

Sorry to hear about everyone's tough weeks. Bad news on the job front WWW .

I'm not stressed - quite the opposite - can't seem to get my rather large ar$e into gear and don't really have any excuses.

But tonight I did have a nice healthy spinach and pasta dinner, with no fattening butter or cream ( dh away, so seizing my opportunity to cut down. He, on the other hand, is sunning himself elsewhere, drinking wine and eating tapas)

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 17/05/2007 20:57

MI - get you and your glam editor. I failed to phone the hairdressers to book cut & colour for the weekend and no doubt they'll be booked up now. Grr!

Good news - car passed it's MOT. Bad news - pre-school Chair job was dire today, nothing going right and a few on Committee are making life very difficult. Wish I could sack 'em all! Pru did you get your policy done? - I can send you ours.

WWW - sympathies. I once scored a years salary out of a company which merged depts and tried to fob me off with a more junior position. It was one of my finer moments!

I have done lots of good and healthy things today though. Will probably go running again after school drop off tomorrow. But I have way too much work to do tonight to be in bed before 12am

tortoiseSHELL · 17/05/2007 22:36

Owwww. Did the stupidest thing this evening. Coming in from the car, slightly stressed by whingey children, ds1 and dd into house, carrying ds2 (who is 12 months) into house, tripped over the kerb and staggered across the pavement, desperately trying not to fall on top of ds2 who is a tiny little thing, twisted my knee, smacked my face into the railings and still banged his head on the railings! I felt stupid, ds2 screamed the place down, and I feel all battered and bruised. I REALLY hope no-one was looking out of the window at that moment - it was one of those falls where you keep 'running' forward iykwim! Anyway, ds2 doesn't seem any the worse for it, and my knee (and pride) will be better tomorrow I'm sure!

Marina, you cheered me up with the pies!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 17/05/2007 22:55

Oh that rotten TortoiseSHELL. Go and read some chicken threads, that'll cheer you up

Glad DS2 was OK. Terrifying falling over with children, especially the tinier ones. Have this for your knee

tortoiseSHELL · 18/05/2007 00:13

Well thank you Duchess! Have been reading chickens all night! Think we've finalised a style for the coop now - like the boughton one (i.e. with an upstairs) but square (square house and square run!).

Hi everyone have been so busy this week that I havent had time for the web!

Anyway have been following the seven day juice diet this week and having nothing but juice so very healthy on the diet front.

I have scaled down the running and exercise a little this week as I have been working hard but have managed running, cycling and swimming and am off to the gym after lunch time meetings.

I am remembering to keep applying cream and sun screen so also managing that. Bed times well mostly before ten thirty but some 11pm ones so need to address that one. I am getting up at 6.30 or 6am though and sometimes going cycling then.

Hope this is good enough!

cerys · 18/05/2007 09:32

Morning all. Hope everyone is OK?

www - sorry to hear about your job.

Pamina - I am doing the Swansea Race for Life. I run with a group and we did the course last night, plus a bit more, so I got some exercise at least. I ran it last year and am now putting pressure on myself to be faster this time. I think I need to remind myself it's a charity event! Last year it poured with rain and was a mudbath. My lovely family (DH, 3 kids, parents and brother) stood in the rain and the mud to support me [tearful emoticon]. Good luck to you too.

TortoiseSHELL - that fall sounds nasty. I hope you and DS are OK today?

Oh, and I STILL haven't set my MORON!

We're fine - thank you! I've got a bit of a bruised face but nothign too dramatic! Ds2 seems absolutely fine. Marina, I hope your ds is better today - I hate it when they're sick, it's the worst thing! I always forcibly confine ds1 to the sofa with a towel wrapped round his front just in case!

Going to get my hair cut in about half an hour - nothing major, but it is depressing me atm, it is so tatty at the ends. I always know when it needs cutting because I can't get a brush through the ends !

foxinsocks · 18/05/2007 10:41

I was doing so well until last night and then I managed to have 2 suppers - a pizza with the kids and a friend of mine - then I went out later and nobody had eaten so I ended up eating another meal (and drinking arrghh).

My friend is trying to persuade me to do the Race for Life at Kempton Park (apparently flatter than the Richmond one Pamina ) but as I'm nowhere near 5km yet, I'm not sure I'm ready to disgrace myself in public.

Tortoise - hope you aren't feeling too sore

Batters - I had that cold last week and my voice still sounds like Barry White! Hope you are feeling better

Marina - sympathies on the vomiting one - why does it always happen in the middle of the night?

Pamina - is dh off to Wembley? Fingers crossed for a Chelsea win, not only because I really want them to win but because our house will be pure misery if we lose!

Hope you all have lovely weekends.

feetheart · 18/05/2007 10:45

Oh dear, sorry to hear about various bad days.
WWW - re-organisations are the pits and as Pamina says, they seem to happen everytime things have settled down again. Definitely a reason for a blow-out I'd say.

Marina - huge sympathies re sickbowl then work, not a good combination! Hope you have a better day today.

TortoiseSHELL - hope your bumps, bruises and pride are feeling better today.

Well promise of underwear proved a false start, apparently they got side-tracked by geeky computer stuff and forgot. I think he's back there next week so hints will be dropped

Managed to do quite well again yesterday on the no nibbling/sensible snacking thing (my own additional rule!) and am feeling the benefit already. Its been quite a to realise just how often I have found my hand straying to my mouth with something to nibble on!!!

Good luck to the Race for Life people.

WideWebWitch · 18/05/2007 11:46

Thank you all for your kind words.

I had tandoori chicken and loads of naan and keema rice and wine. And today have had 2 pieces of toast with butter, a wholemeal pitta with butter, prosciutto and mustard and no exercise.

WWW - so sorry about your job. Will the timescale for the changes be announced soon? Have a weekend enjoying all the things you like and start again next week.

Cerys - where is the Swansea run taking place? I know Swansea very well!

Been to the gym today and haven't had time to eat unhealthily. It is glorious here so will go for a walk with DS later to find butterflies and rescue stranded snails. Am going out this evening though and will eat and drink whatever is there.

I've not posted here since the beginning of the week but have been trying to keep up with the main aims of the boot camp. Doing some well, some acceptably well and not well at all on the bedtime one and exercise mainly due to circumstances. Will be all sorted by Monday, though. Sorry that I've only briefly looked through the thread.

www - sorry to hear about the job concerns. I hope it all works out well for you. It is a very worrying time, I know. A few years ago I thought I was in a safe team during changes but wasn't so it was all change for me too. I wasn't at risk of losing my job, though, and that must be a huge concern.
