WWW's six week 10 year younger boot camp, WEEK 1 all over again, everyone welcome

WideWebWitch · 13/05/2007 21:45

This is week 1 of the fourth boot camp of 2007 , everyone is welcome.

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times. I know it's winter, there are still rays trying to damage your skin
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

www very sorry about the job. But I have complete confidence that you will eithe get the new one, or find something else just as good. Just a shame your redundancy payout is likely to be crap-ish. I hope you and your sister felt better for your time together

Tshell - Ow! have you taken Arnica for the bruising?

I finally finshed my policies at 3am, as I went to a Roy Harper gig first, and then had to go and clean the bloody pre-school - cleaner was sick and by the time I found out it was too late to get anyone else! So for the first time ever I sat through Roy Harper sober and not stoned! He was still amazing.

prufrock · 20/05/2007 11:45

My drunken wastrel kicked in on Friday - I celebrated the end of Ofsted (result: Good, with only minor "continue to improve...." type recomendations) with a large piece of chocolate cake, then drove to friends for dinner and to stay, and ate and drank far too much, and didn't get to bed until 3am.

Yesterday was the school fair, which turned very stressful for me as I ended up running 2 stalls practically single-handedly. And looking after 2 kids by myself, because Dh was at Wembley. So when we finally got home I ordered curry for our tea , and had a coupe of beers, before faling into bed at 10pm

And my brother has gone!

I've been rubbish. Yes, yesterday was the day my sister came here. She brought her childless friend who proceeded to berate us for leaving the table to intervene in a punch up between my dd and sister's dd and THEN she kindly wrote us a list of "rules for good parenting" I told her she would need to come back and apologise when she had children. It was a good evening though, I drank loads of Champagne and went to bed at 12.30am. Have been nursing my hangover and so far have done nothing but lie in bed reading the Sunday papers paying particular attention to the job pages.

Have eaten 2 bacon sandwiches and a chicken one. Am still in my dressing gown although I have showered.

Not an especially good day yesterday but Saturdays rarely are. Today I have been virtuous on all counts. Had a long session in the gym and felt fab afterwards (made even better as DH had done me another playlist and had bought some new tracks he knew I'd like). Have also been on a long walk en famille, played football, hoovered top to bottom and am just going to cook our roast. Feeling great.

tortoiseSHELL · 20/05/2007 16:41

at www's sister's friend!!!

motherinferior · 20/05/2007 17:13

I actually curtailed the wild living last night with one glass of white wine and a smoked salmon bagel (no scramblies) but will redraw the veil over today's intake, which includes roast chicken, ice cream with chocolate sauce, and rather a lot of booze.

I did, however, re-enter the pool this AM - 8.30, all among the crumblies - although I only did 50 lengths as was utterly exhausted. Mr Inferior's habit of snoring does not help with this

glitterfairy · 20/05/2007 17:31

Have just got back from a three quaters opf an hour bike ride and am feeling much better. Still drinking only juice but tomorrow I can eat food Hurrah!!!!! May have porridge for breakfast as I am doing my long run tomorrow as I didnt get time for it today.

Monkeytrousers · 20/05/2007 17:35

Can I just say the best (and I really mean it) hangover cure is Syndol - so good you can start believing hangovers don't exist..until you run out!

Monkeytrousers · 20/05/2007 17:36

Take them the night before though, not the morning after.

winnie · 20/05/2007 18:34

I have had a good weekend bootcampwise. Although the water drinking is certainly not a habit yet and I struggle at the weekend with the amounts!

Danced around the living room for an hour last night and it was fab ... I really want to do some proper dancing but who with and where? I am not a clubbing sort of person.

Did 10,000 + steps yesterday which included a walk with ds (him on his bike).

Today ds and I went for a romp around Avebury.

But it has been such a quiet weekend. I've been quite melancholic since I briefly spoke to h an hour ago (he phoned to talk to ds).

Pamina - hope the race for life went well today. I drove past and sent you virtual vibes!

www - lol at your childless friend. You should have got her to wipe dd's bum on the loo or something - that would have shut her parenting lectures up.

I'm not sure I should mention what I've eaten though vast quantities of cake (both raw mixture and finished and iced) were consumed this afternoon, so much so that I can hardly fit any wine in now.

Much celebration here due to chelsea winning the FA cup (I know, like I need an excuse to eat and drink more!) and me dropping ds off at Wembley to meet dh (who was coming from work) which all went off seamlessly aside from me making a detour to take dd to Harrods and pigging out in the ice cream parlour...oh dear, perhaps I should stop now .

Have done lots of steps over the last few days - left poor Moron at home so have no idea how many but my feet are sore.

Definitely shite in the tortoiseshell house - all crappy here!

Felt v bad about ds2 and his bang - having thought he was fine, noticed big graze on his head on Saturday (or rather dh noticed it ) - I'm fairly sure it didn't bleed, but there was me feeling all sorry for myself, and thinking he had not a scratch. He seems fine though.

Took the kids swimming yesterday, then spent whole day looking after all 3 of them while dh made a start on the chicken house!!! Today had a bit of a walk (well, to church and back), and some digging in the garden. But had sausages (nice Waitrose ones), mash and baked beans for lunch, and will have bread, cheese and wine for tea, so not so great. Also did indulge in some nice Waitrose Fairtrade chocolate.

Am really going to make an effort to do some 'proper' (i.e. not wading around with the children) swimming this week - if you can all be mean to me if I don't that would be good! Ideally would like to do some before the rest of the troops emerge from their beds, as I love morning swimming.

WideWebWitch · 20/05/2007 20:03

I know Enid! lol!

I'm feeling a LOT happier about everything on the job front because I've realised a) it's at LEAST six months away so I might just about manage to carry on with my 4 day week until dd's at school (she might be able to start in Jan, depends where we send her) b) there are jobs out there and I could always go contracting again, it wouldn't be bad, I quite liked it c) As dh points out, we're in a much better position than when I was out of work before since I now have 2 years of up to date experience and d) lovely ex dh has offered to pay me 2 years maintenance all at once should we need it and e) I've realised redundancy money could be decent even at only 3 months pay and it would be tax free f)It'll be fine!

I have eaten bread and bread and bread sandwiches. And Lolled about a lot. But have also done lots of job hunting stuff so that's good. And I'm a bit tempted to have a glass of wine in a minute.

There was another punk cd with S TImes today. And god The Torygraph is a terrible paper! (IMHO)

Btw, FIS, don't think I haven't noticed how high up the 'how dirty are you' list you are! Number 2 iirc!

How did today's runners get on? Perhaps they haven't finished yet

I have done lots of gardening and built a fence so not fussed that I didn't run my 2 miles today. Back and shoulders have had a very good workout!

Tortoise - you'd better post a photo of your hen house (with DS1 in it, clucking) on one of the chicken threads so we can all admire it!

I've drunk 1/2 bottle of Becks this weekend but also 1 litre of water per day (which I really have to work at, iykwim), I've eaten sensibly, moisturised, self-tanned, pumiced my feet and will be manicuring my nails c'est soir. I have failed miserably on getting to bed early though - 2.30am yesterday [hopeless emoticon]

Will be running and rowing again tomorrow, backache permitting.

Wishing you all well for the week ahead.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 20/05/2007 20:07

WWW - that's a really positive & practical view of your possible redundancy. Sounds like a win-win situation!

tortoiseSHELL · 20/05/2007 20:08

Agree with DoNB - that's a really positive view. Dh's redundancy from his work before the one he's at now paid for our kitchen! And you are really employable, definitely.

foxinsocks · 20/05/2007 20:11

lol www shhhhhhhhhhhh. I posted without checking what everyone else had scored! They must have lied though because I'm a paragon of virtue .

and tax-free redundo payments are a great thing...as is having 2 years experience on your CV. I'm job hunting at the mo and there's lots out there it seems.

cerys · 20/05/2007 22:13

I have had a lovely weekend, but not very good as far as healthy eating was concerned!
I ran the Race for Life today and it was really hot and sunny. Much better than last year for the spectators, but I found it quite hard going. It was a great feeling when I crossed the finish line!

I celebrated by going for an all-you-can-eat buffet at a lovely Indian restaurant . I was fairly restrained and there were lots of other women in there who had also been at the Race for Life - perhaps curry is a good post-run recovery food

Pamina, hope you had a good race.

Hope everyone else is OK?
