Blue denim, over t-shirt and trainers. I'm average /petite size . I'm 37 tho - is this a massive no-no...??!!!

(Currently in a style crisis)

I have a photo of me wearing them in 1990 that's bad enough to make me never ever ever wear them again. I looked awful. Other people seem to pull them off though.

princessbear80 · 15/04/2018 20:21

Thanks zippy will take a trip to Topshop!

PetraStrorm · 15/04/2018 21:42

I have found my tribe! Just this afternoon I was pondering denim dungarees as I love them on other people and I live in jeans anyway. This thread has convinced me to try them out Smile

La Redoute have lots of styles and you can get 40% off most of them if you use the code SAVE at checkout. I've just ordered 2 pairs (£33 each) to see if they look any good on me at all (5' 3", size 12) as I have the 'oversized toddler' fear. Hopefully a decent turnup and my Docs will help me avoid that. We'll see...

squiz81 · 15/04/2018 21:44

I love my dungarees (DH doesnt!) I always get compliments on them.

Im wearing a pair now, i got them from ebay but they are H&M. They are are more of a relaxed fit and so comfy. I love that i can bend over without worrying about flashing my bum!

I also have some wide leg, cropped ones from Gap. And some tight black ones....im not feeling the tight ones so much at the moment though.

IVFNewbie · 16/04/2018 10:10

Crikey. Just wear them if you want to.

zippyswife · 16/04/2018 10:40

I’m in dungas dilemma. So I’ve bought these 2.... I really don’t need both... which to keep? (I’m early 40s apple tall size 10-12). I actually love them both. Will wear with plain white tee and trainers.

These are much baggier on the leg/bum on me than the model.
Or
m.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/petite-slim-leg-dungarees-7534115
Once again they are much looser on the leg/bum etc than the model.

PetraStrorm · 16/04/2018 10:57

zippy personally I prefer the asos ones in terms of colour and denim - they look a bit funkier. Actually, I really like them. Might flag those to try myself if the ones I've ordered aren't right for me 😊

But they're both good - I reckon you need to go with the leg/bum bagginess that you're happiest with. The asos ones look a looser fit than the others, but if you're tall, either will look fab I reckon.

I'm hoping to find a pair that are the perfect level of loose fit, which is trickier as I'm a shortarse and have less of a margin to play with 😊

Ridiculouslyso · 16/04/2018 10:58

Can you post pics wearing them zippy?

DanceDisaster · 16/04/2018 11:04

@zippy

I was going to say that the Topshop ones look like they’d give me, (like you, a tall apple, although two dress sizes bigger at the mo Sad), a terrible wedgie. Then I noticed they’re petite. Did you buy them, or the tall / reg version? I struggle with anything jump suit / playsuit-y unless it’s the tall version as I get a wedgie (camel hoof Blush).

zippyswife · 16/04/2018 11:30

I don’t know if the level of bagginess on ASOS ones make me look like I’m trying to be too down with the kids (and should have a skateboard and baseball cap).

I hadn’t noticed a camel toe on the Topshop ones (didn’t buy petite ones though they are just above ankle length) but I better recheck!!

I’ll try to post photos.. I’m crap at selfies though and my mirror is so close to my bed it’s hard to see in a photo. I’ll give it a go...

DanceDisaster · 16/04/2018 11:38

Ah maybe you’re short in the torso with long legs Envy! I’m just big all over... like Shrek Grin.

zippyswife · 16/04/2018 11:47

Yes... I have long legs but a massive apple belly made even worse by the double c-section overhang.

Bet there’s nothing shrek like about you.

DanceDisaster · 16/04/2018 11:50

I’ve just had a cs too, so feel we are big tum soulmates Grin. Pesky, lovely babies!

Ok, I’ll be Fiona then. She’s rather cool in the latest movie, so don’t mind being her.

DavetheCat2001 · 16/04/2018 12:33

Love my dungarees. These are from ASOS.

I'm 45.

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 16/04/2018 13:07

I love them, but not with a Breton. Try a thin knit under them, like the Uniqlo merino ones.

Dandellion · 16/04/2018 17:49

I love them but my bust is quite large so I don't think I could carry them off Sad

zippyswife · 16/04/2018 18:01

Ok.... I appreciate these are rubbish photos.... which pair are better. Or in fact should I leave dungas altogether!!

DavetheCat2001 · 16/04/2018 18:07

They both look fab on you!

zippyswife · 16/04/2018 18:21

Thanks Dave. Yours are fab on you. Think we have the same ASOS ones. Mine are really baggy on the bum though which I think bothers me (ridiculous first world problem if ever I heard one).

princessbear80 · 16/04/2018 18:54

They are both very similar, and both look good. Maybe the ones on the right (no turn up) edge it a bit?

Luckingfovely · 16/04/2018 19:18

Thefashionlift on Insta gives good dungaree:

Haggisfish · 16/04/2018 19:20

I like the ones on the right. Which ones are they?

PetraStrorm · 16/04/2018 20:38

They both look fab. I like the ones with turn ups, as turn ups look ace, and with those you have the option of also going turn up-less and having that cool thing where the legs just ruckle up slightly around the tops of your feet. Just enough to look casually sexy 👍🏻

zippyswife · 17/04/2018 07:19

The ones on the right are the topshop ones.

Thanks for the replies- mixed opinions... I’m going to have to try them again todayConfused.

Ds asked why I was wearing dungarees when babies wear them. He was genuinely confused. Momentarily questioned my dunga-quest but remembered he’s only 5- what does he know?

DanceDisaster · 17/04/2018 08:02

Oh I love the topshop ones @zippy! Not a camel hoof in sight! You look fab.
