Blue denim, over t-shirt and trainers. I'm average /petite size . I'm 37 tho - is this a massive no-no...??!!!

(Currently in a style crisis)

Love mine from Gap. Feel like a 90s pretending car mechanic calendar model in them.

wiccamum · 14/04/2018 22:02

Privateporcupine, I’ve got two pairs of the topshop ones! Black pair and Khaki. I bloody love them!
I’m size 12, 5’8” and I’m 39. I fell in love with the black ones then bought the green online. I live in them! Skinny fit and DONT make my bum look big. They also come in pink but a bit too girly for me. The khaki do have that sort of “land girl” look, particularly with an extra turn up. Nice

zippyswife · 14/04/2018 22:06

I did it. Bought the Topshop blue denim pair yesterday. I LOVE them. I also ordered an ASOS pair and will decide between them when they arrive. Thought they looked great with a plain white tee and white trainers. I’ve wanted a pair for years and kept thinking I was too old. So thanks for the inspiration!

wiccamum · 14/04/2018 22:10

Go Zippy! Now I’m super depressed that both pairs are in the wash...I have no dungarees to wear tomorrow 😭

BertrandRussell · 14/04/2018 22:33

Has anyone seen any men's ones for 17 year old ds?

wiccamum · 14/04/2018 22:37

Try asos menswear BertrandRussell
They’ve got short styles and long

Thishatisnotmine · 14/04/2018 23:03

This thread has really swayed my opinions towards pro dungarees. And I have found a new rug!

notangelinajolie · 14/04/2018 23:09

Aw I want some. I used to wear them. In the summer I even had pink short ones Shock Sadly, at the grand old age of 53 I think i am too old.

FrancisofAss · 15/04/2018 04:54

If I had a figure like Jesus I’d wear them. Sadly I’d look more like Tinky Winky.

Am EnvyEnvyEnvy about the dungarees and DM look. I tried on some DMs the other day (shoes not boots) and they were too narrow! When did that happen? I LIVED in DMs when I was a student. Am gutted.

cheapskatemum · 15/04/2018 09:46

Those of you who are saying you're too tall and long of body, you just need to put extensions in the straps, or better still a panel at the back where the straps start. You could use a trendy floral patterned piece of fabric, or match the denim or black canvas. I'm sure there'll be tutorials on Pinterest &/or YouTube. I'm Envy of your long legs as I think they'll look great in dungarees.

I'm going to go online hunting for a pair now - does anyone have suggestions for what might suit a 5" 6", size 10/12 hourglass shape? Legs & body are proportionate.

Pasithea · 15/04/2018 10:04

Totally love love love these but I’m nearly 50. Can I.

TossDaily · 15/04/2018 10:29

Of course you can.

Spudlet · 15/04/2018 10:31

I'm 5'9 and these are mine. It's so nice to wear them again! I don't care if I do look like a giant preschooler Grin

RedDwarves · 15/04/2018 10:34

I prefer dungaree/pinafore dresses, but that's because I'm not a jeans fan and dresses fit with my style more. I love them though. Pop any top/jumper underneath, some tights, flats, loafers, brogues etc. They're so versatile.

cheapskatemum · 15/04/2018 10:35

I'm 57 & don't care Pasithea. I've ordered the White Stuff ones. It sounds from one of the reviews that the legs are cropped quite short, so I may have to add denim "cuffs" for autumn & winter wear, but they didn't have the longer length ones in stock in a 10 or a 12. Top Shop Jamie ones are out of stock altogether (except pale pink corduroy ones) & Sainsbury Tu no longer have any.

SporkInTheToaster · 15/04/2018 14:01

My old White Stuff ones are quite short in the leg. Probably about 25” on a 31” inside leg. In colder weather I wear mine with boots and chunky ski/walking socks ruched to fill the gap. Looks great.

SunnyAgain · 15/04/2018 14:02

Dungaree heaven here www.dungarees-online.com
I loved wearing maternity dungarees but haven’t bought any since... think I need to though!

princessbear80 · 15/04/2018 14:14

I love this thread. I’m definitely on the hunt for my perfect pair after reading this. Slightly loose cut, blue denim, to wear with my new navy Birkenstocks Smile

Diamonddealeroncemore · 15/04/2018 14:37

Ive read through this thread and now I really want dungarees! I’ve always loved them but haven’t worn any for about 30 years and now I’m 57 and overweight but I still want some!

blurryeyedbeast · 15/04/2018 16:19

36 and have a denim skirt pair and a denim but flowery patterned shorts pair. Both charity shop finds!

zippyswife · 15/04/2018 16:20

Princess- your ideal ones sound like the ones I’ve just bought from Topshop. I also have navy birkenstocks...

Spangles1963 · 15/04/2018 17:24

RavenLG. What is a dungaree dress?!

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/04/2018 17:30

This is the dungaree dress I want, but I have a few others.

Dungarees....
Aeroflotgirl · 15/04/2018 19:01

I think they look very cool, they are really in at the moment.

getdownshep · 15/04/2018 19:33

I’ve got these ones a few weeks ago.
I’m 51 and think they look really nice, the young women in the shop didn’t laughGrin
I’m planning to wear them with red or tan Saltwaters or New Balance trainers prob with a basic t shirt underneath.
I also have short grey hair so don’t think I will be mistaken for a giant toddler.
