Blue denim, over t-shirt and trainers. I'm average /petite size . I'm 37 tho - is this a massive no-no...??!!!

(Currently in a style crisis)

I did see some in White Stuff the other day and thought about it.
I have many friends who wear them. I might be tempted.

Spudlet · 14/04/2018 11:52

I got a nice (to me) pair from FatFace a couple of years ago. I wear them quite oversized with either a plain vest top underneath in summer, or a fitted top with sleeves in winter. So, so comfy on those awful, period, bloated and achey days. And they have many useable pockets! So handy. I wore mine only yesterday for a relaxed day at home.

DH laughs at them because he associates them with one of his primary school teachers when she was pregnant. But he lives in fleeces and jeans at all times so I ignore him Grin

DomesticAnarchist · 14/04/2018 12:06

Can I request some pics of these dungarees?

Land-girl types sound amazing!

SporkInTheToaster · 14/04/2018 12:11

I love mine. I have a pair of slim deep black wash ones from White Stuff. I don’t buy the tops or skirts from WS but their trousers are often a good fit on me and they seem to wash & last well. I’ve had mine about 12mo.

I wore them last week, one day with a skinny fit deep v neck jumper and the other with a red & white striped Breton & a bright orangey red lip (I came downstairs and teen DD said I was channelling “Where’s Wally?”).

DH sniggered when I told him i’d ordered them, then they arrived and he loves them.

I’m older than you, OP. TBH, I think they are mostly worn by 35+ yo women. They were in fashion for young uns a while ago but they’ve moved on now.

JesusTapdancingChrist · 14/04/2018 12:12

Thishatisnotmine - Here you go!.

BertrandRussell · 14/04/2018 12:19

Glad to see this thread- it might have to be my new home now FWR has been muted.....Grin

Has anyone seen any men’s dungarees? My 17 year old wants some- he’s 6ft and slim but broad shouldered.

SporkInTheToaster · 14/04/2018 12:19

domesticanarchist, these are mine (google images photo). They are no longer available. They don’t fit the ‘landgirl’ look. My body shape is better suited to a slimmer cut silhouette.

Does anyone own these Dungarees? I really like them, and I'm looking for a slimmer fit pair. Not sure I could pull them off but I see them looking great on other people and I want to try them, plus they're very useful and versatile.

Figgygal · 14/04/2018 13:27

I'm 5 foot 10 and long I'm the body so bit worried about camel toe Grin

BillowingFluffs · 14/04/2018 13:41

🙋🏻‍♀️ 37 and rocking the dungarees. Love them. I've got a black pair but I'm going to go wild and order a blue denim pair as well!

SporkInTheToaster · 14/04/2018 14:06

Figgy, I’m not as tall as you (5’7”) but I also have problems with full body things. I have to have the shoulder straps fully lengthened to stop the crotch pull/camel effect on the White stuff ones, so I imagine they’d be no good for you.

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 14/04/2018 14:08

I've got a dungaree knee length dress that I love wearing! I'm 37 too, and if I get funny looks then I don't notice them.

Niminy · 14/04/2018 16:11

Now I want a pair like this - really the Land Girl look: Simplicity Vintage pattern

LalaDipsey · 14/04/2018 16:57

Have posted on the ‘dungarees over 40’! thread also but this seems more active. What do you think??! I’m tall (5’9) so have had to lower the top of the dungarees so that the crotch isn’t too tight and wonder if they look odd?? The White Stuff long length ones are out of stock. These are regular length Fatface ones. I’m 43 and not sure I can carry it off! Photos are on the other thread can’t seem to move them over Confused

IJustLostTheGame · 14/04/2018 18:31

I got mine on eBay and they look a lot like this.
Very hour glass shape flattering.
I wear mine with a t shirt or a blouse underneath though. And a fair isle style cardigan over the top.

Love dungarees! Yours look great, Jesus Smile

Last had some in the mid 80s, apart from while pregnant in the late 90s.

Nearly 53 now, still a size 10 with a curvy waist/hip ratio - I wonder whether I need to go shopping...

Coriander71 · 14/04/2018 20:05

You lot are so persuasive! I’ve been trying to resist the lure of the dungaree (muttering ‘you’re not skinny and 18 repeatedly) and even tried vicarious shopping by buying my daughter (who is skinny and 18) a pair but to no avail - have caved in and ordered a pair from Fatface (excellent reviews). More in hope than in expectation that I won’t look like an elderly teletubby though.

Soyalatteforme · 14/04/2018 20:11

I REALLY want a pair! This thread has given me confidence!!

I'm nervous of the 6ft toddler look!

Soyalatteforme · 14/04/2018 20:12

Can anyone recommend a pair for the long of leg?

CanIGoToBedNow · 14/04/2018 20:21

Desperately want a pair but I’m proper fat and I don’t think they’d suit me 😩

shopaholic85 · 14/04/2018 20:38

I've always wanted a pair of dungarees, and the comments on here have made me impulse order two pairs! The first pair might be a little long on me (I'm 5'1), but I'm hoping I can wear casually and for work. The second pair are these ones from White Stuff. I'm also eyeing up a cropped wide leg pair from Joanie and the Topshop petite ones.

springisfinallyhere · 14/04/2018 20:38

I got a blue denim pair from fat face last year after pelvic surgery meant I wanted to avoid waistbands for a bit. I LOVE them and have had lots of compliments on them! I also have a short denim (not short short though) from Zara that I love in the summer.

Also 37!

mizu · 14/04/2018 20:50

Am 45. Worn my GAP dungarees so much last summer. Planning to this year too - and am eyeing up some black ones on Topshop.

TheDowagerCuntess · 14/04/2018 21:18

I saw a women in a pair of really well-fitting one recently and had severe dungaree Envy

However, they're one of those items of clothing that I know I can't wear. I'm tall and would feel like Bozo in them, no matter how hard I tried.

Enjoy, all you lucky people who look fab in them.

privateporcupine · 14/04/2018 21:47

I want these ones, but they don’t do the black in petite, and I think the black will be more forgiving on me. Not sure i can justify £50 anyway. They’re not the kind of thing I could wear every week.
