Is this top really ageing/unflattering?

I always like the look of these Crew rugby shirts. www.crewclothing.co.uk/rugby-top-whe002-whtblu/
They have one in the sale now and I thought I might try it. I'm in my 20s and I know the tops aren't the height of stylishness, but are they really ageing and unflattering ?

ah harsth rawesome6!

I robbed this top from my 12 year old son and it oozes class!

It’s very Pony club Mum, I fact I sometimes wear something similar when taking DS and pony to rallies!

Preppy style. See above since you clearly imagine the style to be similar to Hyacinth Bucket’s style.
🙄

It’s not.

MrsKoala · 08/04/2018 20:36

It certainly oozes a class. Not necessarily a stylish one. I grew up in Chiswick and Richmond and now live spitting distance from Tunbridge Wells (not that I’d spit on it —even if it was on fire— ) and it’s a look of a certain tribe. Not one I’m part of. All a bit Lucy Henman for me (not that there’s owt wrong with her) Blonde highlights, sunglasses on the head etc. Just if you aren’t one of them then you just aren’t and the look doesn’t work.

I love Alexa’s style. It is preppy with a hint of quirkiness.

Personally I think a good pair of jeans, brown boots and a navy blazer with this would look classic and lovely. You do you.

wakemeupbefore · 09/04/2018 00:41

Hmmmm... all this talk about ageing clothes is a bit of a joke, really. One look at the face and figure and it really doesn't matter what you wear, age is easily nailed.
To the PP who 'defended' Grin cut-out shouldres as easily choppable sleeves - sleevless tops are one of the most unforgiving garments known to womankind. Unless one sports seriously toned arms, just don't go there/...

BusterGonad · 09/04/2018 07:03

Over the past 2 years I've decided sleeveless is not the way for me to go, I never liked sleeveless but would wear one on the odd occasion but now for me it's a big no no. I've just not got the confidence about my upper arms to go for it, and my arms are by no means fat!

Dandellion · 09/04/2018 11:38

I'm the same BusterGonad. My upper arms aren't bad at all, but somehow a sleeveless top really emphasises them now Sad

BusterGonad · 09/04/2018 14:22

Dandelion I think it's since the word Bingo Wings has become common! 😂 I just feel like my arms are not toned enough!

RoadToRivendell · 09/04/2018 14:36

Arms are the first thing to improve with Pilates, it's almost easy. I've been going for 14 months - you can't keep me out of sleeveless tops, I'm shameless.

MrsKoala · 09/04/2018 16:40

I hate my arms. Probably the worst thing on my body. They aren't that bad size, but really untoned and pale and blotchy and freckly and moley. They just look squishy. Oddly bandeau tops look okay but sleeveless tops awful. It's the expanse of shoulder and chest i think which detracts from the arms.

Even when i've been my slimmest and doing pilates and body pump every day my arms had no improvement. My personal trainer said arms were one of the areas where genetic really made a difference. One of the trainers was extremely fit and strong and trained for hours every day and her arms still looked mostly undefined other than a bicep bump.

I remember wailing 'i just want arms like Jet!' (from gladiators in the 90s) in one session. Grin Now i just wear sleeves.
