What’s the trendy shoe to wear with jeans now (if previously was superga / converse?)

Or is it still superga?

I always seem to be a year behind.
Last year I bought converse and then superga was the thing. This year I’ve got a pair of white superga in my basket but I’m sure once I buy them they be sooo last year Grin
ThanksSmile

Just get whatever you like.
I still wear white vans and Stan Smith's, am I soo five years ago? I don't care, they look good on me.

Worieddd · 29/03/2018 10:05

Eh? Just get whatever trainers you like Confused

drinkswineoutofamug · 29/03/2018 10:06

Been wearing Adidas superstars for the past 15 years . So I must be well out of date

thedevilinablackdress · 29/03/2018 10:08

If you like it, buy it. What's in fashion might appeal or it might not. For example - You'd never catch me in a cold shoulder top but I have recently bought an oversized denim jacket

piercinggelo · 29/03/2018 10:12

If you are 12-18 this may be of concern. If not you just wear whatever you like.

buffalosdonthavewings · 29/03/2018 10:14

i am now seriously wondering if my white vans are too out of dateShockGrin ha ha.
I was so looking forward to wearing them again after being stuck in winter boots for the past three months.

youngestisapsycho · 29/03/2018 10:18

I dont understand 'out of date'. Surely if you like something, you buy it and wear it?

KimchiLaLa · 29/03/2018 10:18

OP I believe superga are classics so go for it. Or maybe some Stan smiths?

Chienrouge · 29/03/2018 10:20

I have converse (3 pairs), superga and some Adidas gazelles. To be honest I have no idea what is in or not, I just go to a shop and buy whatever shoes I see that I like.
I would assume that if they’re sold in shops then they’re fairly ‘current’, no?

SarahBeee · 29/03/2018 10:23

Get Superga! So comfy and always look good, couldn't live without my silver metallic ones I bought last year

ZaZathecat · 29/03/2018 10:30

They all look the same anyway

rightknockered · 29/03/2018 11:05

I like Superga and am thinking of getting a white pair, bought a pair of black Converse recently, also like Stan Smiths. I sometimes wear Nike Air 97s and 95s if I'll be walking all day. Also love my Vans, and may get a new pair of slip on classics.

buffalosdonthavewings · 29/03/2018 11:06

i was joking avout out of date, i love my vans and stan smiths and have some puma classics which i dont see many people wearing but i love them

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 29/03/2018 11:10

I hope supergas aren't out, I just bought a silver pair last week! I love them though, so I'll wear them anyway Grin

Longhairmightcare · 29/03/2018 12:31

Thanks to the handful of people who tried to answer the question.
So superga are fine then?

Being in style and beauty board I thought this was the sort of thing it was ok to ask.

Yes, I know, wear what I like and what is comfy, god forgive me for wanting to look somewhat on trend for once in my life at the same time. There’s little else I manage in that dept. as the ‘least stylish Mum in the playground(tm)’ so sod off with your [confused face], and ‘are you 12yrs old comments’ this isn’t AIBU.

The year everyone was wearing converse I had something else, can’t remember, so next spring I bought converse and superga was all the rage so on so forth story of my life.

dontquotemeondailymail · 29/03/2018 12:36

Are Superga comfy to wear all day? I find converse really hard and flat, so I'm looking for something similar but comfier

FrozenSweetPea · 29/03/2018 12:37

I am with you OP - what a bunch of snipey, horrible responses to a perfect valid question! Some of us are not so sure of our style choices - for a variety of very acceptable reasons! I am one of them so it could quite easily have been me asking this question!

Ellapaella · 29/03/2018 12:44

I have only just bought my first pair of superga op and I really love them. I've had lots of comments and people asking what brand they are so I think they must be reasonable acceptable from a current trend point of view. I'm a bit like you and can't keep up with current trends, I tend to notice people wearing things I like then eventually buying it two years later! Go for the superga I say.

TimesNewRoman · 29/03/2018 12:47

I think those black Vans with the white stripe seem to be really IN atm. I dont love them and im hoping to get Supergas this summer. Never had them before though. Converse just dont look right on my feet.

bizzers · 29/03/2018 12:52

I looove my New Balance trainers with jeans Smile

Longhairmightcare · 29/03/2018 12:54

ella I tend to notice people wearing things I like then eventually buying it two years later!
That’s exactly what I always end up doing Grin. Just thought I’d make an effort to actively try and notice these things when they’re new!

frozensweetpea thank you.

busyboysmum · 29/03/2018 12:54

I find converse and superga too flat any uncomfortable.

Nike air or New Balance for me. Bounce around all day in them.

Longhairmightcare · 29/03/2018 13:02

Come to think of it I have noticed those vans now you mention it times. Not sure I’m keen either!

Will have a look at NB, too thank you. comfort and style definitely appeals!

The fact that superga areonly £25 are a point in their favour though.

I find Converse extremely cold when you put them on - I do suffer with the absolute worst circulation to my feet (really, really extreme level of crapness) so can often be found (in the cooler months anyway) heating them up on a radiator before I put them on!

I wear Converse still and bugger off if anyone doesn't like it although I must say, they aren't especially comfortable or soft to wear. Still better than going barefoot though. THE most comfy shoes like this that I've got are second level hand-me-downs are some denim blue Lee Cooper trainers (velcro) in blue denim that are like slipping your feet into heaven - they are SO soft I can't tell you. Quite cool designs but I can only find them on places like eBay.

CapnHaddock · 29/03/2018 13:08

Superga are much more comfortable than Converse - they have thicker soles.

NB and Nike are more comfortable because they're designed to do sport in. But they're much more expensive
