What’s the trendy shoe to wear with jeans now (if previously was superga / converse?)

I always seem to be a year behind.
Last year I bought converse and then superga was the thing. This year I’ve got a pair of white superga in my basket but I’m sure once I buy them they be sooo last year

Costco also has white cotu 7050 superga for £35, I think usual RRP is £50 in some stores

How do people usually lace them so that is t a bow showing at the top? I think it looks neater without one but wondered whether there is a technique.

I am the antithesis of fashion conscious , I have Vionic and Sketchers for my old lady feet.

I don’t think you can go wrong with Converse, they go with almost everything. Currently switching between Vans and Adidas Gazelles. I’m not that trendy though, just wear what I feel like

What I'm struggling with here is people only have one pair of trainers. I have 9 pairs including Converse, Stan Smiths, Puma suedes, PF flyers, Vans, and NB (the most Dad trainer like ones), plus some high street ones. I need some grey ones as well but haven't seen leather ones I like yet.

I usually wear cheaper shoes but I really wanted leather for summer & there was 20% off at Clarks.

I obviously don’t spend enough time looking at peoples feet as I have no idea what’s trendy. I wear lace up plimsolls from New Look with my jeans. Cheap, come in lots of colours and if I trash them on a dog walk easy to replace. I’ve spent silly money on fashionable trainers in the past but these days I’m just not fussed.

I’m normally Vans, I work with younger people (mid-20s) who are mostly in New Balance. I am currently covering the Woden Dalmatian trainers, so I think I am officially old.

Had to google Superga not a fan of them but then I live in Adidas Gazelles of various colours (DNephew currently not impressed that we have the same black ones) so probably not on trend at all.

Have just bought Veja and dd 15 is impressed for once. Zalandro have a good selection and if you sign up for their email often have good deals. I had 15% off.

count we don't all have money to spend on 9 pairs of trainers.

I can't believe how popular new balance have become. They're so fucking ugly to my eyes, and I used to laugh at my husband for wearing them. I know it's all normcore blah blah whatever, but it looks so terrible. I hate them so much.

To summarise:

The truly in fashion thing at the moment are dad trainers, which I’m not quite fashion forward enough to wear.

Converse are either fine and go with everything or terribly dated

Superga are still ‘in’ albeit a bit ubiquitous now.

new balance might be a good affordable compromise between dad trainers and plimsolls.

As it is, I really like the Gola ones linked above -thanks to whoever put that up, I might just get them and then a pair of the sale supergas in the m&m link (again, thank you to that poster) if I can find a pair in my size in stock.

To the person who asked if anyone says ‘trendy’ these days? (unless middle aged a cardinal sin itself, imagine). Answer: Not really in real life, however for the purposes of this conversation everyone knows what’s meant.

I am a recent convert to Superga (from Converse for the last squillion years) and oh my god they're the comfiest shoes I've ever had in my life.

Bloody hell, I clicked the link to Golden Goose as I'd never heard of them before, so now the adverts on the right are all showing me tatty looking £300 quid trainers! Made the same mistake last year when I clicked a link to a really ugly dress and got ad-spammed by the company for weeks!

I have flat feet so I love Converse.

I also have a gorgeous pair of Gazelles but the big lump in them feels very odd on my flatfeet. I wear them more for style than comfort!!

I have had a couple of pairs of Supergas and found them oddly unflattering on me - I have no idea why they are more unflattering than Converse/ Stan Smiths or their million lookalikes. It took me two pairs to confirm that though.
