@Treeballarae I went in a Flotation tank the other day and the shampoo and conditioner was Faith in Nature coconut - amazing!!!! I am not a fan of coconut but this was lovely!

@Experiment627 - floatation tank sounds lush, we have a place round the corner from my work and I've been meaning to go for at least 10 years! Did you enjoy it? I think I worry I'd be claustrophobic though.

I've never used the coconut variety, as like you, I'm not usually a fan of coconut smells, I've tried the seaweed, the tea tree, the citrus and the fragrance free, I might try the coconut next time I re-order! I'm using a sample of kiehls shower oil at the moment and it smells like coconut (although it says on the packet that it smells of almond and vanilla).

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/09/2018 19:42

Dregs of a BodyShop Ginger Conditioner gone (I already have a replacement though, it was BOHOHP, I got the shampo too) DH and DD use this too.

I tried the Nuxe showergel yesterday it was nice but for work I needed something more heavy duty , so cracked open a Korres Basil and Lemon I think. Smells lovely Grin

Experiment627 · 11/09/2018 06:22

@Treeballarae I went to Floatworks in Vauxhall. I did not just the tank too - partly cos I thought I might get claustrophobic, partly cos once I was in I found it hard to manoeuvre my 9 month preggers body! 😂😂😂
It was relaxing nonetheless and I did not get cold. TBH though there are preferred relaxation methods for me - like massage, a facial, going to a steam room - but I was curious and I think this was a good idea considering my currrent state Grin
The shower after was bliss.

Still plodding on trying to use up Liz Earle stuff .... I've totally gone off it but will use it up

RJnomore1 · 11/09/2018 11:21
  1. Clinique 7 day scrub. I like this but after the method one it felt a bit too gentle.

I only had a little bit left in a full sulizectube so it's done now.

I have an Arran aromatics tea tree and lavender facial scrub to use now.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 11/09/2018 12:36

Thank you Alicatz66 and Experiment627 for links.

It looks like the volume shampoo in 1 litre bottles are sold out, but I'll keep an eye on the site and order if they get them again.

The volume shampoo is for fine hair, which I don't really have, but the lady who helped me in the store in Denmark said that the other shampoos are very moisturising so could make my hair very flat and oily quicker.
I am however tempted to try something else, just for the fun of it. I have a bit of frizz around my hairline (baby curls that never seemed to change) and I'd be keen on finding something that would make the frizz less frizzy and the curls more defined, but the rest of my hair is straight, so I don't know what to get.

I am currently working through a lot of my makeup to try to use it up, so I feel a bit too made up for a Tuesday with fake lashes and bold eyeshadow (inspired by the new Bobbi Brown camo luxe eyeshadow in Jungle). I also added glitter as I'm trying to use up the Stila glitter and glow liquid eyeshadows.
I'm just working from home today, so maybe I can get away with it.

Experiment627 · 11/09/2018 14:31

@RiskIt4Biscuit haha!!! You are wearing false lashes to work from home? Classic!

OP posts:
RiskIt4Biscuit · 11/09/2018 14:56

Experiment627 Grin I have no valid excuse

PurpleNailVarnish · 11/09/2018 15:19

@RiskIt4Biscuit wearing glam makeup to work from home is brilliant.

I'm working from home today, I've got loads done but I've done lots of titting about too. Unfortunately, I'm not glamorous, I'm still in my pyjamas. Working from home is a new initiative from my employer so I don't dare to get int the shower in case someone rings me. As soon as it hits 5pm I'll be straight in there.
The other reason for not getting in the shower is that the window cleaners have just arrive and stuck a ladder up at one of the windows Confused so you can be sure that if I get in the shower I'll walk out to find they're staring into my bedroom window.

I've been using some Olaplex 3 to sort out my post-holiday hair. It's good stuff.

No more places of historical interest for now @Treeballarae I'm glad REN Wake Wonderful has been working for you.

@Experiment627 a flotation tank sounds lovely.

Welcome @faykceb. I didn't like Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner either.

@AnotherPinkiePieStory and @ThisIsHistory I've had great success with Soolantra for my rosacea, it's working wonders but when if at all did you reduce your usage?

@ememem84 have you dyed your hair the chocolate and mauve colour yet?

I've been looking at the contents of the beauty advent calendars, originally I was looking at the SpaceNK or L'Oreal Luxe calendars. I've got loads of SpaceNK credit to use up but I've decided not to get it because I don't need anymore makeup and a lot of the face products are ones I already have from my recent SpaceNK haul.
So I'm on the lookout for another calendar.

@ThisIsHistory I might use up my SpaceNK credit on one of the Foreo devices.

I haven't written out a list of things I've used up for a while, I'll start here with small sizes/samples and write the list of full sizes later.

  • Caudalie Premier Cru
Good but no better than the cheaper Vinosource I use.
  • Superdrug Castor and Shea Conditioner
I liked this a lot and would buy it again.
  • Odacite Eye Contour
Didn't like this for my eyes, instead I used it with my moisturiser.
  • Dr Dennis Gross 1&2, Hourglass caution extreme lash mascara, Lipstick Queen in mornin sunshine, Sunday Riley Tidal, Chantecaille fauz cils mascara longest lash, Becca velvet blurring primer, NARS velvet lip glide
These came from the SpaceNK samples, I donated these to DD2 so I don't know yet which ones are good and which if any are duds.
PurpleNailVarnish · 11/09/2018 15:21

@Alicatz66 when I first had rosacea Liz Earle was recommended to me and it didn't work. Keep going on using it up.

ememem84 · 11/09/2018 15:41

@purplenailvarnish no haven’t dyed hair yet. Can’t afford it at the moment! But must put it on my to do list!

Experiment627 · 11/09/2018 16:21

I have an empty!

  • The Sanctuary wet skin moisture miracle: this is so practical and has been a God send when I go swimming but I am not keen on the scent. I much prefer Nivea one.
OP posts:
Alicatz66 · 11/09/2018 16:59

Experiment627 . I have that Sanctuary wet skin stuff. I love it and will re buy .. I like the sanctuary smell and my kids bought me the big beach bag of it all for my birthday! .. it's in my shower for the days I'm running late getting ready for work

ememem84 · 12/09/2018 08:47

Empty. Amika bombshell blow out spray. Ran out this morning so half my hair is bombshelled. The other is fluffy...! Haha.

Back to the redken all soft stuff. I half about 3/4 of a bottle left. Love it.

PurpleNailVarnish · 12/09/2018 11:03

Is Redken good @ememem84? I've never used it but I would if it really works.

My aim was to use up 20 full sized products by December. I'm close to that already so I'll set myself another goal. These are all full sized products.

My list:
1, 2, 3. L'Oreal Elvive coconut conditioner
This doesn't make my hair greasy and conditions it well, I have more.

  1. Superdrug Argan weightless conditioner
A good day to day conditioner, I'm on the next bottle already.
  1. Cetaphil moisturising cream
Again, I have more than this. It's a good moisturiser that doesn't exacerbate my rosacea, I use it to take my makeup off or on the days I'm not wearing makeup.
  1. Ameliorate transforming body lotion
I have more of this, I like the fact that it's a good moisturiser without leaving an oily residue on my skin. 7, 8, 9. Two Lipstick Queen lipsticks and one Lime Crime, I donated these to DD as I don't wear lipstick very often, especially not darker shades. 10. Fragonard Rose Ambre perfume I'm fussy about scents but I love this and yes, I have some more. 11, 12 Ouai volume shampoo and conditioner I'm not usually a fan of expensive shampoos and conditioners as they always over promise. This was the best I've tried, it smelled clean rather than particularly fragranced and left my hair shiny. 13.14 Schwarzkopf Gliss leave in conditioner As my hair is fine I use a leave in conditioner most days, I've got lots that I'm trying out but this is the best I've found so far. 15. Weleda Jardin de Vie Agrume perfume This was ok, I didn't love it and I wouldn't buy it again but I wore it to work to use it up. 16. Nuxe rose micellar water I was underwhelmed by this, I didn't think it was any better than cheaper micellar waters, it took ages to use it up. I wouldn't repurchase. 17. Avon skin so soft A holiday staple it helps to keep biting insects at bay, although it smells strong. I bought this in a pack of three and I'll use the others next time we go away. 18. Caudalie vinosource moisturising sorbet My favourite moisturiser, it's good under makeup and yes, I do have more. 19. Body Shop hemp hand protector This is the hand cream I use every day, I also use it when I have dry skin, I have more.
ememem84 · 12/09/2018 11:45

I really rate it purple all soft oil. It’s helped me not fluff! I have notoriously difficult hair.

In theory it should be lustrous and glossy. But in practice it’s thick wavy and fluffy.

Treeballarae · 12/09/2018 13:09

@Experiment627 - your float experience does sound lovely! And what is good for you is good for baby, so it's medicinal!

@70isaLimitNotaTarget I had the lemon and basil Korres body milk a while back, I remember it smelling lush, must remember to put it on my "future purchases" list

@PurpleNailVarnish - haha, when I lived with my mum and dad, the window cleaner regularly got an eyeful, as the hall window didn't have curtains and I would sprint from bathroom to bedroom, hoping for the best.

Enjoying all the hair care chat, my hair is fine, straight and fluffy so watching with interest.

And the main reason I came on here was to moan that they said the Holland & Barrett advent calendar would be out today, but it's not on their website yet

PurpleNailVarnish · 12/09/2018 18:01

Thanks @ememem84, in that case I'll give it a go and report back.

@Treeballarae I'm sure that you dashing across the landing at your parents' is more alluring. Our poor window cleaners don't need to see my middle aged self in all it's glory. It's enough to make them resign and good window cleaners are hard to find round here.

I didn't know there was a Holland and Barrett advent calendar. I'm intrigued.

Experiment627 · 13/09/2018 08:28

Blimey @PurpleNailVarnish well done!!!

@Treeballarae Holland & Barrett DO AN ADVENT CALENDAR???? 🤯

I have an empty:
Nivea in-shower moisturiser dry skin: I LOVE this and am thinking I shiuld repurchase (even though I have other body lotions to use up) cos it will mean I may still moisturise body once Kwicklet here. Going to Primark today hopefully they have 🤞🏼

I just got a great hair product that i love and is one of my holy grails as a gift. I am very happy with this as it's expensive and hard to find! It comes in a very interesting packaging as you can see.

I have 2 empties:

Yamasterol Less Poo shampoo - i thought i didn't have more of this but recently found and used up a mini. I liked it, even though i'm not used to less poo. It smells great, it's a very light minty smell.

Sensodyine toothpast - i hate how it tastes BUT i love that it diminishes the sensibility.

Inthetropics · 13/09/2018 12:31

We don't have advent calendars here, it's not a tradition at all. Reading all your posts i kind of wish it was!

PurpleNailVarnish · 13/09/2018 22:16

Personally I like advent calendars inthetropics, they're good fun.
Some shops have started calling them countdown calendars or similar names, I guess to appeal to non-Christians.

DD was here this evening, she suggested that as I can't find quite the right beauty advent calendar she would buy me the products I want and put it in a calendar herself.
Then she realised the cost of my wish list.
We still might do this though; I'll choose the products I want and she'll put them in an advent calendar for me.
Although it's a bit Blue Peter at least I'll be getting what I want.

My list:
20. Dr Salts recharge bath and shower gel.
Bought this for holiday and loved it, particularly the smell, so I've got another one in the cupboard.
21. Percy and Reed perfectly perfecting wonder overnight recovery.
Now I'm old in my 40s rather than bowing to pressure to have short hair I'm growing mine, I'm looking for products which make my hair strong, thick and shiny. I'm trying out some overnight treatments. This claims to absorb instantly into the hair. It doesn't. It didn't condition my hair and it smells like a glue we used to use as kids - Gloo maybe? It's sticky too, I darned well used it all up because I was determined to but I definitely wouldn't buy it again.

Treeballarae · 14/09/2018 12:59

@PurpleNailVarnish - you are a dedicated user-upper, I would have thrown that hair stuff out!

Yes, Holland and Barrett do indeed do an advent calendar, they did a 12 day one last year for £35 (I think) but this year is meant to be £75 and have 25 days worth of stuff in it. 25 Days of Clean Beauty according to Vogue's list of 2018 calendars. It's still not on their website though, I'm beginning to think they meant 12 October and not September. Let me see if I can do a link to the Vogue list.
