@Treeballarae from Omorovicza I've got a 100ml sample of Queen of Hungary Mist which I really like and a 50ml sample of Elemental Emulsion. A lot of products aggravate my rosacea but this is brilliant, it even reduces it. I'm sold.
I had a small sample of their neck cream a while ago and I'm going to get some more of that too when I've significantly reduced my current product mountain.

I know what you mean about your skin changing, my skin was great until this rosacea arrived about 4 years ago.

Here you go @ememem84 Self-care thread I'll join it myself soon.
I'm good at putting on/taking off my makeup, taking multivitamins and staying hydrated but I'm crap at anything else.
I had a rough time a few years back and those small things you do to look after yourself really do make a difference.

Experiment627 · 18/06/2018 07:18

@ememem84 much love and affection 😘😘😘

Wowzers @Treeballarae what a lot of empties!

@Skinfulnappies46 I am not sure you can sell used make-up products on ebay due to hygiene reasons however if they are barely used then a local women's shelter may accept them?

I am warning you all I am planning a visit to Lush later on... oh and I think I MUST have the new L'Oreal Feminist pallette which honours the suffragettes...

I have two "empties":

  • Sensodyne rapid relief toothpaste travel size (much prefer my usual fennel Kingfisher)
  • Diego dalla Palma Ciglione mascara: from an advent - actually quite liked this, but went all gunky about 2 weeks ago - time to move on

Thanks ladies. Will try local shelters so someone can use them x

ememem84 · 18/06/2018 21:01

thanks y’all.

Appreciates the love etc.

Much love and self care vibes to those of you who are preggos at present. I hope you’re not feeling too awful and are looking lovely. I sometimes miss my bump (but not so much that I want to do it again any time soon...!) and my stretchy clothes! Haha!

Powder foundation used up today. Yay!

Experiment627 · 19/06/2018 07:07

@ememem84 I plan to stay in maternity wear FOREVER!!!

I have two empties!!!

  • Charles Worthington sunshine protector conditioner 75ml: perfect for travel
  • Lush Bubblegum lip scrub: only 6 months past use up date 😬 repurchased yesterday

So comfy right?! Hoorah for stretchy waistbands.

But once you hit August or September you’ll be dreaming of skinny jeans with a zip and a button....:!!

Experiment627 · 20/06/2018 08:09

Haha! i doubt it @ememem84 I have worn pull on jeggings for years!!!!

Only day 3 of an Elf mascara - total crap Sad

When products don't live up to the hype it's really annoying, I don't know about you @Experiment627 but I want mascara to be a good colour, stay put and make my lashes look good and like any product I want it to not 'go off' quickly.
It probably seems like a lot to ask but if making mascaras is what your company does then it doesn't seem such a stretch to me.
I'm sorry your Elf stuff was rubbish.

@ememem84 back in the day I thought I wouldn't be able to wait to get into my thin person jeans skinny jeans weren't invented in those days and that was what happened with DCs 1 and 2 but there's only 14 months between DCs 3 and 4 so I spent five years in pyjamas, I'm still pretty keen on my pyjamas now tbh. Grin

DD2 is home at the moment and she's taken some of the samples off of my hands.

I've fallen into peril today though - Feel Unique has got a samples offer on and I fell for it.

Experiment627 · 21/06/2018 07:37

@PurpleNailVarnish no harm, no foul. Elf mascara was cheap as chips.

I have 3 empties!!!

  • Kingfisher Fennel fluoride free toothpaste: love this stuff - has been a staple for years
  • Body Shop British Rose shower gel 60ml: really liked scent, may get full size if I ever get through my stash
  • Charles Worthington micellar shampoo 75ml: liked this. By some miracle since preggers do not have to wash my hair as often.

Two UU:
L’Oréal arginine triple resist shampoo & conditioner - used to love this but doesn’t work as well as it used to :-/

Two in:
Timotei shampoo
Schwarzkopf Geiss repair conditioner

Hoping to finish this month:
Superdrug naturally radiant hot cloth cleanser, day and night cream
Superdrug pure foam cleanser, toner and serum.

Well, it's the 21st and my list of 21 for the Solstice has all but three items done and dusted!
Well done all of you on blasting through your stashes!
What's our next challenge?

I've finally got an empty - boots protect and perfect moisturiser. This is a staple for me as it suits my skin quite well. There's another one in the stash...

ememem84 · 21/06/2018 14:01

Purchase alert. Bobbi brown eyeshadow pallet. But it’s not for me. For Dm for her birthday.

LapsedHumanist · 21/06/2018 14:37

Hello, been lurking for a while...can I join in? Bit of an obsessive about trying things.

But I’ve finally got an empty! Herbivore Phoenix Facial Oil, 8ml trial size. It was really nice, good all purpose for either day or night. Have ordered another for going on holiday as it’s such a dinky size. In a pinch, a couple of drops was a fab serum for frizzy ends too, so that’s another box ticked for the holiday kit.

PurpleNailVarnish · 21/06/2018 16:33

@Experiment627 I know it's entirely a first world problem - buying a product that doesn't live up to it's remit - but I like trying products, then finding out that it is pants disappoints me. Only mildly, mind. It's not a day wrecker.

Hello @LapsedHumanist, that facial oil sounds good. I'm nearly out of mine so that's gone onto the 'potentials' list. Does it last long?

LapsedHumanist · 21/06/2018 16:47

Hello PurpleNailVarnish

The 8ml one lasted me about a month using it once or twice a day. So the full size would last 6 months maybe?

I’ve used things I prefer as a day oil or a night oil, but nothing I thought did both jobs so well IYSWIM. Versatile, that’s the word I’m looking for.

Treeballarae · 21/06/2018 18:19

@PurpleNailVarnish - yes I get disappointed it when a product doesn't live up to expectations, especially if I've shelled out a lot for it (and if a blogger has raved about it), it normally means it will take me ages to use up as I'll favour other products over it and then I'll get doubly frustrated as it will sit on my shelf and be a dust gatherer.

@BigStripeyBastard, well done! I only managed to finish 12 out of my 21 and 5 of the 9 remaining still have loads left in them.

Hope everyone else is having more success.

Yes, what shall we do for our next challenge!?

@Experiment627 I like the sound of that fennel toothpaste,

I wear stretchy waistbands all the time now - not worn anything structured since 2011-ish and I don't even have pregnancy as a reason, I just hate having something tight against my stomach. I do miss jeans though.

Confusssed · 21/06/2018 20:04

I have found my people Smile

If anyone is interested you can easily sell part used cosmetics & toiletries on Depop. I have bought & sold loads. It's fantastic for trying an expensive item for a fraction of the price to see if you truly love it.

I am turning over a new leaf and stream lining my make up drawer. I have recently discovered IT Cosmetics CC cream and won't ever use anything else ever again, so I sold my lightly used Chanel Lumiere Velvet Perfection and Laura Mercier Candleglow foundations on Depop.

LapsedHumanist · 24/06/2018 12:03

@PurpleNailVarnish Decided to try the Queen of Hungary mist as I need a mist mini to take on holiday. I have rosacea too so thanks for saying it helped.

Finished another mini (love minis)- Rahua Hair Conditioner. Bit of a miracle worker but for special occasions only as 1)expensive 2)can cause build up if used continuously

PurpleNailVarnish · 24/06/2018 12:21

I hope it works for you @LapsedHumanist. I'm interested in the Rahua shampoo and conditioner, they were on one of my wish lists but I took them off after I read a few poor reviews but if they work I'd give them a go after I've trawled through the shampoo mountain we have here.

LapsedHumanist · 24/06/2018 13:35

@PurpleNailVarnish they are really good. I use the original one as it really suits my hair (fine, slightly wavy, lots of it). With that one I could air dry my hair and it looked like it had been blow dried- straight and shiny. Voluminous one did boost volume with a wavy beach look (nice but not what I’m after). It would be great for a wavy bob I think. The colour one made my hair too soft and a bit limp (but the colour mask is great, especially after lowlights). It would be great for lightened hair especially as it has a lilac tint to it.

Apologies if you know this already but Lovelula often do double sample sachet of shampoo and conditioner for £2 (if you spend £10 on main purchase then you can get up to 5 samples for pennies).

PurpleNailVarnish · 24/06/2018 14:14

That's brilliant advice @LapsedHumanist thank you and no, I didn't know about lovelula, I'll check it out.

Your hair sounds reasonably similar to mine, except that mine is fine and straight, think typically Scandinavian but more golden blonde than white blonde. There's plenty of it but it is very fine. Despite being in my mid 40s I'm keeping it long for now, even DD2 she's the fashion icon one of our lot asked me whether I was going to keep growing it. I thought she was going to say it was time to give it up and go for a middle-aged bob, but in fact she said that it really suits me and I should keep growing it. We agreed that a long bun looks distinguished on older women.

But long, fine hair takes a lot of upkeep and I'm always on the lookout for the shampoo & conditioner that will make it look good effortlessly Grin

PurpleNailVarnish · 24/06/2018 14:15

Apologies everyone, that was a massive thread derail.
Oh dear.

LapsedHumanist · 24/06/2018 14:29

@PurpleNailVarnish Rahua=Lazy Blow Dry.

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 24/06/2018 21:56

Hi all and loving the stretchy waistband chat! I have one pair of hush trousers and love them so much that they may be joined by others soon.
My 21 list is all finished bar stupid foot powder that just made a mess of bathroom and turned my feet white!
Threw away Charlotte Tilbury lipstick as just rubbish. Slid everywhere and did not live up to hype. Also binned a brow gel that was very full on and made me look scary.
Finished lovely soap and glory liquid highlighter that I would repurchase if I didn’t have a squillion!
Also finished Ordinary facial oil that was great but didn’t smell amazing and that’s my key thing for a night oil.
Finished Lancôme mascara and would repurchase I think. Have glossier one to try next.

So next list! What shall we do? I’ve already made a list of 13 to clear out! But def need a title!

Might have picked up a few things in tkmaxx sale too. Lovely cleansing oil, face mask and soap. All into cupboard of shame!
