can i please join this amazing thread!!??!?!?

i have been feeling dreadful about my hoard for some time and making a real effort to pare it down. I've marie kondo-ed most of the house and possessions so beauty items are a natural progression.

the satisfaction of throwing away an empty pot is incredible.

loving you all!

ememem84 · 09/05/2018 07:47

ALso working on a body shop raspberry body butter. It smells so sweet. It’s amazing. I’m currently using a “powder fresh” scented deodorant and that couples with the raspberry moisturiser leaves me smelling like candy floss.

Treeballarae · 10/05/2018 13:33

Virgin Vie, that's a blast from the past, I'd forgotten it existed, it reminds me of when I first started working (15 years ago) and I would browse in their shop in my lunch hour - can't remember ever buying anything but I got given some bath salts from there in my first secret santa. Fondly remembered times, thank you for the reminder.

Treeballarae · 10/05/2018 13:56

Some summer solstice list use-ups to report:
Nivea compact deodorant - long since discontinued but such a useful size for handbag lunchtime top-ups.

Urtekram fragrance free body lotion - mixed this with various shower oils to use it up as it smelled quite oily without them

Clarins Pure and Radiant clay mask - this was never ending but finally done! It washes off well, which is a big plus for a mask for me. I've got 3 other clay masks to use up so a long time before I should repurchase.

Scottish Fine Soap Company Sea Kelp body wash - nice fresh smell for the summer but contains SLS, might get the soap version in 2040 when I'm finished current soap stash.

Chanel SPF 30 - so highly fragranced, had a white cast - don't know why so many bloggers raved about it a few years ago, it was good under make up I suppose.

Some off list use ups -
Aromatherapy Associates muscle gel mini - was easy to massage in and didn't leave residue or stain clothes. Purchased a big size.

L'Occitane almond hand cream mini - a lovely light hand cream, sinks in quickly.

Elemis papaya enzyme peel 15ml - love this, opened a big size from my stash

Soaper Duper lemon handwash - found this quite drying but smelled lovely, like sherbert lemons, got their passionfruit one to open next

Neals Yard Jasmine and Ylang Ylang shower gel mini size - loved this - treated myself to a big size even though I have far too much shower gel already

RiskIt4Biscuit · 11/05/2018 12:05

Just finished a Redken Blonde Idol 1liter shampoo. I love this and already have another bottle ready.

Also finished a Becca shimmering skin perfector spotlights in Opal - it was part of a giftset. I really liked this one, but have a full size of the shimmering skin perfector liquid in Pearl as well as cream versions and powders in different shades, including Opal. If I did not have all of these products, I would happily repurchase it.

Last empty is a kai body lotion. I got this in the Liberty advent calendar, and I have quite enjoyed it. It smells quite strongly of white flowers, which I really like, but it can occasionally be too strong. Not sure I would repurchase

PurpleNailVarnish · 11/05/2018 12:51

Forgive me hoarders for I have sinned and succumbed to the SpaceNK giveaway offer so new products, freebies and samples are on their way.

Never mind, aside from this I've been making good headway.

TeaAddict235 · 11/05/2018 13:11

Finished a Garnier Honey moisture mask.

Used and finished a Garnier Nutrisse hair colour & mask.

CantChoose · 12/05/2018 00:49

Oh, purplenailvarnish I have sinned too!!
I was tempted by the lookfantastic 25% off plus free gift elemis offer. Then if I spent a teensy bit more I got a free serum. And some korres shower gels were on offer so it seemed rude not to. Oops.
So I got the superfood face wash and a pro-collagen cleansing balm - I've not used either before and did actually need a new evening cleanser as i'd exhausted the stash. Used tonight for the first time, absolutely lovely. Smells gorgeous - just like a proper facial.
The freebie gift came in a great bag (usually throw these bags out straightaway but this one is excellent) and has a bath thing with matching body lotion (?seakelp, seaweed, sea-something!), a cleanser, toner and the new overnight matrix which will probably be too rich for me to be honest. The shower gels are lime basil and cherry almond. I love the cherry almond and haven't seen it before. The serum is an Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Revitalise And Glow. Apparently.
Double oops.

On a positive note it was all a bargain, obviously Grin

And I've finished a full size tigi split end mender which was a straggler from my Xmas list! And also an ELDW which is a stable and ive moved onto the one in my stockpile! I'll start looking for offers once it's half way though.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/05/2018 01:19

I picked up a hair serum and a self tan (in my defence: Home Bargains so good price AND non tested so you can see why I would Grin )

Nearly finishing a Mane&Tail conditioner and some Bodyshop showergel (olive)

Experiment627 · 12/05/2018 10:31

Welcome newbies!!!

Am loving baby chat 😍

No empties to report however did I tell you about the Purescent.com Lime, Basil and Mandarin candle I got - complete dupe for Jo Malone... shame they do not do perfume.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Used up a Body Shop ginger shampoo this morning, it's a staple for me but I have a vosene on the go and a Charles Worthington in the drawer so I'm determined not to buy anymore until I've used these.

Cant I love the Elemis cleansing balm!!!! It smells divine. Very envious of your haul.

ememem84 · 12/05/2018 16:29

I binned a brown eyeliner pencil. It’s years old and it had gone a bit crumbly so in the bin it went. In some ways it’s a shame as it was a change from my usual black. But in others not as I have 17 eyeliners to use up (in pencil, gel, liquid and pen form - varying colours).

My trusty black dior pencil has about an inch left. Just sharpened it today.

ememem84 · 13/05/2018 19:17

Ditched an elizabeth Arden mascara. I don’t like this. It’s gone a bit dry and makes my lashes feel like they’re going to fall out. So it’s gone.

IPokeBadgers · 13/05/2018 19:58

Finished a 15ml elemis pro radiance illuminating flash balm. I've been using it as a moisturiser in the evening....it's a product I dont really get and I wouldn't buy a full size version.

Also went to bin an urban decay eyeliner which I could no longer sharpen as it was so short and stubby...dropped it and it rolled under the bed, so will retrieve it at some point and bin it properly.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 13/05/2018 20:40

Have just found out that I am pregnant, so have binned the almost empty the ordinary retinoid product I have been using until recently. My impression is that even the weaker retinoids should be avoided. I don’t kno wif this has had much of an effect anyway - liquid gold has done more for me I think.

Not sure if I can keep using the Alpha h liquid gold - but it seems it should be okay to continue to use.

Experiment627 · 15/05/2018 06:57

@RiskIt4Biscuit CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I think Alpha-H should be fine: I avoid retinol, salcylic acid, any cyclic silicone like cyclopentaxisolxane and rosemary.

I have two empties:

  • Body Shop Vitamin E hydrating toner: love the smell, works well but will finish my stash of face mists before repurchasing
  • Cosmia Green eye cream +45 yrs: very cheap... was ok but I still have fine lines 🤬

RiskIt congratulations, that's lovely news! 💐

RiskIt4Biscuit · 15/05/2018 13:27

Thank you Experiment627 and suchatiredbunny

It's still very early, and I'm very excited (and a little scared!).

Strawberryfield12 · 15/05/2018 21:41

Oh, this thread is riding high on fertility Grin
Lately every time I come to have a read there is a baby news! Congratulations Riskit!

I shall have a look at purescent eperiment, although I have been guilty yesterday with Jo Malone free treat offer.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 16/05/2018 09:23

Thank you Strawberryfield12!

I've had a little clear out in my makeup stash - I had some very old products lying around and I was getting tired of looking at them. I have really been trying to use them, but I don't want to use anything that's expired.

I binned:
Very old Clarins Everlasting foundation. It has been too dark for me for ages, and it is very strongly scented. I haven't been using it and I suspect it is out of date.

Tom Ford lipsticks in Black Orchid and Violet Fatale. Both very old and I don't reach for them. They were nice enough, but I don't really rate the Tom Ford lipsticks - for that price, I'd expect them to be significantly better than cheaper versions, and they aren't - my main issue with them is that they were patchy on the lips.

Also got rid of an old YSL nude lipstick. It was getting old, and I recently started using it more, but I don't like the scent.

Laura Mercier Mineral foundation primer. I didn't like it very much, it didn't do anything for me and I haven't used it for ages. There's no point in keeping stuff that I don't want to use.

Also got rid of some Dior skincare samples and some serum from Codage which smells so strongly that it has given me a headache every time I have used it in the past.

Not really empties, but I will not be using them in the near future - they are too old and/or too fragranced.

RoseMartha · 16/05/2018 16:34

Finished an Alberto apple conditioner and have had to buy a new conditioner to replace it, going for different brand as that was what was on offer at supermarket.

Also dug really old small dove shampoo out cupboard to use up. It's so old I noticed the current packaging in shops has changed!

AnotherPinkiePieStory · 16/05/2018 17:28

Hi team! Sorry AWOL for a while and returned to such lovely news! Yay to babies!
Well done. I’ve been steadily working through my June list and adios to:
Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in a weird peach. Made me look dead!

Aesop skincare samples that I took to Paris for weekend. Lovely and may look into buying.

Body shop Almomd and Honey hand cream. Gorgeous smell and worked!

2 Temple Spa Fragrance mists. Used in car to revive me before commute! Thought pointless but weirdly missed them today!

Better Than Sex mascara. It wasn’t and flaked!

Laura Mercier primer. Love it and will repurchase once 2 open primers are finished!

Mini bottle M&S New York perfume. Nice enough but lasted 4.5secs.

Famous Daves Fake tan. Dread to think how old but brill stuff. Now have Bondi Beach one.

Body shop manoi body butter. Smelt like heaven and would buy again but huge pot and seemed to last for years!

Phew. May have just done a glossier order and had a trip to Sephora in Paris. Blush

ememem84 · 17/05/2018 20:37

Soap n glory scrub of your life used up. Love this. Think I have another to go!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 17/05/2018 20:57

Finished a Davines Oi all in one milk.
It was a really good product, but the pump stopped working which was annoying. The scent was a bit odd too, but I quite liked it.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 19/05/2018 09:42

John Frieda hair serum - always a goodie and will repurchase at some point
Kiko anti age foundation - fabulous but I think has been discontinued
Clinique Moisture Surge trial size - good but not amazing
Aussie formula 3 minute miracle - good, would happily rebuy
Mitchum roll on deo - excellent product! Going to repurchase for sure!
