What items of clothing do you think adults shouldn't wear?

This was inspired by the Heart Patch jeans thread, some posters said they looked like Mini Boden kids clothes. I personally really liked them. It got me thinking, which items of clothing do you thiink adults really can't get away with? For example, I know some people say pinafores and Dungarees look stupid on adults.

Nappies.

Other than that, wear what the fuck you like.

Find your style using your mirror, not the number of candles on your last birthday cake!

(Though I think the combination of dundaree bibs and perceptible breasts not a good look. Others might not agree. And the mankini should probably never have been invented)

Aprilshowerswontbelong · 24/02/2018 20:34

I saw a woman with white leggings on today.
No woman should wear white leggings.

OliviaBkn · 24/02/2018 20:34

I like 'fun' exciting clothes, that aren't boring, however it got me thinking. I hope I don't look terrible!

Okay yes, I agree with that one...no white leggings!

They shouldn't even make white leggings!

Jumpsuits/playsuits over the age of 4. Not good. Ever.

WhoWants2Know · 24/02/2018 20:40

Pyjamas outside the house.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/02/2018 20:41

White leggings shouldn't be made in any size over age 5.

DaisyDando · 24/02/2018 20:42

I find grown ups wearing Superdry odd. But I have never said so in real life as it’s none of my business etc. Plus, I am no Anna Wintour myself.

MrsElvis · 24/02/2018 20:43

I tell you what's worse than white leggings. Flesh coloured leggings.

IWouldLikeToKnow · 24/02/2018 20:45

Worse than white leggings are those tan/nude coloured leggingsHmmAlso, adults in Disney clothing look odd to me.

LanaorAna2 · 24/02/2018 20:52

A beige car coat.

rainbowfudgee · 24/02/2018 20:54

I really want to buy some dungarees but can't quite bring myself to! Grin I'm very short so would look like a toddler with an old face!

OliviaBkn · 24/02/2018 20:55

@rainbowfudgee do it! You should buy them, I bet you'd look really cute and they are very versatile, you can put them with so many items of clothing 😊

Not keen on knee high white socks

Bluntness100 · 24/02/2018 20:59

I was going to post this. I saw a woman in them the other day with a cropped top, I swear to god she looked naked from the waist down at first glance.

The other one is leggings which are stretched so much they go transparent and you can see your underwear either when you walk or bend over.

Really that's just always a no.

Thierryhenryneedisaymore · 24/02/2018 21:00

3/4 length trousers. Grim. Not flattering on anyone😒

LouseHouse · 24/02/2018 21:04

Gilets. Fucking gilets. They make zero sense and are so, very, very ugly.

DillyDilly · 24/02/2018 21:11

Onesies,

OliviaBkn · 24/02/2018 21:13

Ooh, what's wrong with a gilet! I used to be partial to my Jack Wills gilet, it served me well for many years! 😁

I have dungarees and far to many items of Disney clothing 🤣 but then I do like to think I'm still 16!

specialsubject · 24/02/2018 21:15

Big frilly frocks with lace.
Hair in bunches.
Pinafore dresses.
Dungarees.
Cartoon prints.

giveitfive · 24/02/2018 21:18

I have recently discovered that not giving a shit what other people think about what I'm wearing or how I look is hugely liberating. So now I dress for comfort or in outfits that make me happy. Sometimes people stare. And I BEAM right back at them. Be you. Be happy.

OliviaBkn · 24/02/2018 21:19

Why do people not like dungarees and pinafore dresses? Is it because they are too toddler-y?! My 24 year old niece looks fab in a pinafore dress, I think they can look really good

OP posts:
OliviaBkn · 24/02/2018 21:20

I love your attitude @giveitfive... I really need to stop feeling so self-conscious as worried about what people think of me...how did you stop giving a shit out of interest? I really try to but alway lapse back into my old ways of overthinking

I must admit I've just been looking at gilets, wondering if one might be useful to layer under my biker jacket for cold spring days.

And I frequently wear my hair in pigtails. Hey ho.
