Welcome all, old hands and newbies, to LFPT no. 11! Pull up a chair and tell us all about your new finds, old loves and burgeoning obsessions. Ask a perfume-related question and someone here will have the answer. Niche, mainstream, celeb scents, drugstore El Cheapos or hard-to-find exclusives - we love 'em all.

We are also doing the Big Sniff every Sunday, so please join us there too!

I'm gonna throw Dior addict in there...😁

pomadas87 · 05/03/2018 21:20

Also not adverse to huge scents - I love things like Opium and Poison, I want to be more daring in the daytime instead of only wearing these for night time / special occasions.

Also just remembered I had Guerlain Terracotta last summer which was gorgeous but couldn't put my finger on what notes I found most appealing. It didn't last terribly well though so not sure id repurchase

SoFancy · 05/03/2018 21:22

I’m sure some of the more knowledgable posters will have more suggestions.

I love white florals, but tend towards some of the 80/90s fragrances - Ysatis and Amarige spring to mind as favourites. Some people find them too heavy, though.

There are some posters here who know loads about new releases and more niche stuff...happy sniffing! Grin

SoFancy · 05/03/2018 21:25

...and here they come! Grin

pomadas87 · 05/03/2018 21:30

Thank you so much - off googling these suggestions now...

mrsreynolds · 05/03/2018 21:36

You NEED to try Dior addict 😁
Is also suggest a couple of the Elizabeth Taylor scents...white diamonds and diamonds and sapphires...Cheap as chips on amazon.

pomadas87 · 05/03/2018 21:36

mrsreynolds ahh Addict I tried a few years ago but found it quite sweet - is it quite vanilla-y?

mrsreynolds · 05/03/2018 21:37

It is.
Madonna truth or dare would be a good shout if you can track some down

mrsreynolds · 05/03/2018 21:39

You could also try Calvin Klein beauty

UnnecessaryFennel · 05/03/2018 21:44

I would second Dior Addict (I knew mrsr would get in there!) Thinking of 'big' scents, easily sniffable on the high street rather than niche - how about Hermes 24 Faubourg (big, powdery jasmine, gardenia, orange blossom, absolutely amazing imo and I'm not usually a white floral fan) or good old Chanel no. 5? And Prada Iris has quite a lot of neroli in I think.

positivepineapple · 05/03/2018 21:46

I really enjoy Loccitane Neroli & Orchidee, don't be put off by the orange & mandarin if that's not your thing - I couldn't pick it out. I get lashings of Neroli with a hint of fig.
I think it's pretty reasonable price wise too.

pomadas87 · 05/03/2018 21:51

Definitely going to venture in to town tomorrow for sprayings and sniffings.
Promise I will give Addict another go too! It was a while ago that I tried it so worth a fresh look.
And yes yes Loccitane - will pop in there too.

LibertyBlue · 05/03/2018 21:59

Pomadas I’m not one of the knowledgeable ones on here but I’d recommend some of my favourites which I own in the Tuberose genre are ...Gucci Bloom (a new release), E Coudray Rose Tuberose, Ruth Mastenbroek Amarosa, Diptyque Do Son, Miller Harris Noix de Tubereuse, Prada Infusions d’tuberose, Frédéric Malle Carnal Flower. All these are powerhouses.

Other white flowers perfumes I’ve tried and rate are white gardenia petals by Illumunium (Kate’s wedding perfume), Yardley Lily of the Valley (weak but cheap enough to respray), 212 Carolina Herrera

I’m not mad about Jasmine (another popular white flower used in perfume) so will let others suggest perfumes (can smell like poo on me!)

UnnecessaryFennel · 05/03/2018 22:00

pomadas - if you have a decently-sized M&S, don't forget their perfume dept. Fragonard and Monotheme have some excellent scents that often lean towards the white florals side of things (Fragonard especially), and are good quality for the price.

pestilentialboundary · 05/03/2018 22:02

CalmConfident if you want to try ISO-e-Super perfumes, Bloom has a Sample pack to help you explore.

Avery have 7 new fragrances. AND a website with an interesting collection of samples

SotE is SJP Stash.

LibertyBlue · 05/03/2018 22:02

^ excuse the terrible grammar in my post above Blush

UnnecessaryFennel · 05/03/2018 22:08

SOTN is Creamy Vanilla Crumble, absolutely my go-to bedtime scent now.

pestilentialboundary · 05/03/2018 22:12

pomadas Mary Greenwell Plum is a fruity chypre with loads of white flowers. A get in now or never at The Fragrance Shop for dirt cheap.

mrsreynolds · 06/03/2018 06:30

My 4610 parcel should arrive today
😁
I think sotd will be addict

mrsreynolds · 06/03/2018 06:33

Pomodas...addict is all about the drydown!
Give it a good 20 mins after you've sprayed and see what you think 👍

UnnecessaryFennel · 06/03/2018 07:05

SOTM is Mark Buxton Black Angel. I'm enjoying this for its bracing ginger/citrus blast in the top notes but there's not much more to it and its longevity is poor. No problem though, because apparently the Freidemodin set is waiting for me at work Smile

Puppylucky · 06/03/2018 07:46

Ooh big florals my favourite Smile
I third the recommendations for Addict ( but it is very vanilla) and especially Truth or Dare - exceptional quality for the money.
Jean Paul Gaultier is great for big power house scents - Scandal the new one is floral honey and totally gorgeous.

auberginesrus · 06/03/2018 08:06

Fosco and Fennel I have that Papillon sample set on my to buy list but it will have to wait a few weeks, too many birthdays in March and too much money spent on perfume already this month. Have put the 4160 Manchester date in my basket on the website - will probably crack before the end of the day and book it Blush

Wore sexiest scent again last night, definitely on my want list. SOTD 100bon Iris et Cedre. On my way to Birmingham for a meeting.

mrsreynolds · 06/03/2018 08:14

I've had addict on for half an hour now and it's full on white floral for me atm...

MrsGruber · 06/03/2018 08:39

Morning All - SotD Feu Follet whch I hope lasts through to a difficult late afternoon meeting - need the leather edge!

Lovely day yesterday trying Pell Wall's Green Carnation and Davana - thanks Blue.

Hoping to join one of the 4160s events too.
