Welcome all, old hands and newbies, to LFPT no. 11! Pull up a chair and tell us all about your new finds, old loves and burgeoning obsessions. Ask a perfume-related question and someone here will have the answer. Niche, mainstream, celeb scents, drugstore El Cheapos or hard-to-find exclusives - we love 'em all.

We are also doing the Big Sniff every Sunday, so please join us there too!

Ignore - wrong app entirely BlushBlush

CalmConfident · 04/03/2018 20:55

New to thread...birthday coming up and need new perfume! Friend raving about Molecules? Anyone tried it?

SoFancy · 04/03/2018 20:59

SOTE - Al Rehab Soft.
They say it’s ‘lemon pound cake’. I only saw that today (more a lemon vanilla cheesecake) after 18 months of intermittent wear.

It’s warm, lemony, very much an Arabian oil anyway. A Sunday night love . Lovely x

UnnecessaryFennel · 04/03/2018 21:31

Hi calmconfident. Yes, I've tried Molecule 01. To me it's completely emperor's new clothes, although some people do seem to absolutely love it. Iso-E Super (the molecule in question) on its own just smells vaguely of pencil shavings on me and gives DP a headache, so it's not a favourite round here Grin

There are, imho, many far, far more interesting and delightful scents out there. What have you liked in the past, I'm sure we could recommend something?

LibertyBlue · 04/03/2018 22:20

CalmConfident I agree with *Fennel about Molecules 01. If your friend hasn’t tried any other non-mainstream Perfume, then I could see why they would be raving about it, because it does smell different. However it also smells rather linear and a bit boring zzzz.

Give us some starters and we’ll recommend lots of things for you to try on the high street and beyond!

LibertyBlue · 04/03/2018 22:21

I’m so blocked up and not able to smell very much. Great start to National fragrance week!

Ollivander84 · 04/03/2018 22:56

Think I'm going to do one of the 4160 Tuesdays perfume events on their tour Smile

CalmConfident · 04/03/2018 23:15

Brilliant, would love some ideas.

Scents that have worked on me - allure, amber (prada and laboratory versions), Gio (old school),

I do not really get on well with the fresh air aqua type scent like Eau D’issey, make me smell like loo cleaner Confused

LibertyBlue · 05/03/2018 00:40

CalmConfident

If you can get to a decent John Lewis or similar- have a sniff of Tom Ford Black Orchid, Bella Feud signature, Narciso Rodriguez for her (Poudre very good too), Hermes Merveilles, Guerlain Samsara, Gucci Bloom or Guilty, Dior Addict (not JL), you may even like the real marmite Angel which has been around yonks. Prada Iris Cedar, Diptyque tempo or tam dao

Online - Fancy nights Jessica Simpson (really!), samples of....4160 Amberama, l’air de rein Miller Harris, Shay & Blue Framboise Noire or Amber Rose or atropa belladonna, Serge Lutens Ambre sultan, Tauer LADDM

That should keep you busy for a bit!!

LibertyBlue · 05/03/2018 00:42

^ that’s just a random selection of some ‘good’ perfumes that share some of the note combos in your favourites. But they will of course smell v different due to all the other notes going on.

mrsreynolds · 05/03/2018 07:05

I was going to suggest NR poudre too :)
Prada amber is lovely
You might like Ellie Saab

Well snow mostly gone...hurrah!

Back into routine

Um...4610 are doing tours??????

mrsreynolds · 05/03/2018 07:14

Sotd PP opium

UnnecessaryFennel · 05/03/2018 08:53

SOTD is Papillon Dryad. This is absolutely gorgeous once that very sagey note has settled a bit.

CalmConfident · 05/03/2018 09:57

Thank you for all the ideas - I will report back in due course :)

The only one I have in use at moment was a present, Kenzo flowers in the air....it is lovely but not quite me if you know what I mean? However, it is amusing as it gave a colleague a small freak out “you smell just like my ex-girlfriend”. Smell memory is a powerful thing!

mrsreynolds · 05/03/2018 10:17

Ooooooh
I could do Birmingham maybe...

Sample of soir de lune arrived. It's lovely.

Ollivander84 · 05/03/2018 11:03

SOTD Byredo Gypsy water

auberginesrus · 05/03/2018 12:04

Ooh v tempted by the Manchester date, but it might be breaking my self imposed no more spending on perfume until April rule...

SOTD is Next Cashmere which I only bought because of recommendations on these threads. Cheap as chips and v nice.

mrsreynolds · 05/03/2018 12:06

Aubergine
😁

CountFosco · 05/03/2018 12:43

SOTD is Papillon Dryad. This is absolutely gorgeous once that very sagey note has settled a bit.

Told you. You tried Anubis yet?

How come the northwest is doing to well for 4160T tours? Manchester, Knutsford, Alderley Edge and Chester? The north east loves you too Sarah! Now, York or Newcastle???

Ollivander84 · 05/03/2018 12:49

I have booked Blush

UnnecessaryFennel · 05/03/2018 12:50

I have count, and I may even like it a wee bit more than Dryad (total sucker for leathery/incensey fumes) but it's not quite so office-friendly. Am very, very impressed with all of them; incredible quality.

MotherofTerriers · 05/03/2018 12:53

sous le toit de Paris today
Very sweet and violetty

Why isn't the 4160 tour coming to Scotland? S'not fair

CountFosco · 05/03/2018 12:54

Yes, I thought they were really consistent and would happily buy FBs of all if money were no object. Dryad is my 'kick ass at work' perfume, makes me feel very grown up!
