I just won two ebay bids I'd forgotten I even made

50mls of 90s Amarige (already got a 30ml of this...I must've been tipsy...ffs) and an almost full 30mls of Bvlgari Pour Femme, which I've coveted for ages, so quite pleased about that (and it was a bloody steal).

Notice at some point I also bid on some vintage Joy. If I win, I will seriously have to wind my neck in for a couple of months.

Its really saying something when you can't even remember what perfumes you've bid on. I need an intervention

Sorry to hear about your boy, teta. DD had Scarlet Fever a while ago. It was quite mild and cleared up really quickly. Hope he'll be right as win soon.

Hello lovelies, catching up after another week from hell at school.

REMOVE MY CREDIT CARD NOW!!!!!!! In addition to the Lush mega order and the PP semi-mega order, I appear to have bought some vintage Je Reviens (already have some modern, which I find lacking in depth, so needed the old stuff to do a scientific comparison) some Bobbi Brown Beach (I don't even know why lol, but I paid 3 euro for a half full bottle and it's supposed to be even nicer than Bronze Goddess and smell like Coppertone, so hey! What's not to like) I also got a vintage Boots lemon grass bath cube and soap set.

I am wearing Cardinal on one hand, and LoF Holy Smoke on the other, Cardinal is (obviously) deeper, and rounder, and smoother and just fabbier, but if some posh design wanker put HS into a brown or black carton and asked £100 for it, it'd fly off the shelves. It's very smokey-woody and has now settled into a more incensey smell than initially.

I was rummaging through my samples this morning, as wanted to find the sample of Songes I know I have somewhere, but never did turn it up. I did try Lady Rose Lion on a paper. Yeeeeuch. Bleeeeargh. It smells like something a 7 yr old who has upended all her mum's perfume into one bottle and then topped it up with washing up liquid would come up with. It's a total clashy mishmashy loud assault on the senses. Don't know if it's fruit or flower based, but I know where it's going.

I am SO glad most of you think the 4160 website needs a revamp, I nominated it on the MN worst website to deal with thread I am sure if it weren't for the love the products get, one look at the website would have people thinking what kind of cowboy organisation is this? It's awful!

Teta, dd has SF and was indeed fine after about a day and a half. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for ds!

Oh dear, I just bought these samples:

Annick Goutal - Nuit Étoilée - Eau de Parfum, Eau d'Hadrien , Tenue de Soirée, Mandragore, Duel, Ninfeo Mio , Les Orientalistes - Ambre Fétiche, Les Orientalistes - Encens Flamboyant

I could say it's because I'm going to study various houses properly, which is true, but the truth is, I'm incorrigible.

I put a LoF (Peony) in TK Maxx clearance at £2 back on the shelf earlier in an attempt to rein in random spending (until March at least). I did crack when I found a bottle of Aubade (dark box/bottle) EDP though, as the heliotrope, violet, vanilla , cedar and musk sounded appealing.

Turns out this is a good pyjama perfume (guess that's the Aubade brief ?). Warmer and nuttier than CdG/PW's Girl (although there are some similarities with the violet/cedar axis). This has a comforting powdery dry down. Think I might prefer this to Creamy Vanilla Crumble (perhaps because I'm going off the sweeteness from big doses of coumarin?)?

The vanilla in Aubade get s similar treatent to Pirates Grand Reserve. (they were quite wussy pirates weren't they?) - not overly sweet or cloying. Not as intense as in Courreges' vanilla/tobacco gem, Hyperbole. A cosy bedtime choice for almond/vanilla fans but not remarkable.

SOTD was Insolence again. Have decided it's not for me. Too strong so it's all I can smell all day. Which is what some people want I guess but it's too much for my senses. Very warming, enveloping scent with a sharp edge initially. First spray, there's a lot going on. Definite floral with powder. Think it's violet with rose but there's something else there with a bite. Unsure what that is. Gets sweeter on dry down, more vanilla than a caramel sweetness. Tonka bean is there but over powered by the floral. It's a very feminine scent with strong silage and longevity. It reminds me of something, someone or somewhere that I don't like. Can't remember what/who/where but it's a slightly negative feeling unfortunately. Not quite right but didn't hate it.

Floof very generously sent me two of the Big Sniff perfumes to try so it'll be Avery E tomorrow.

Just looked. It could be the orange blossom that gives the hint of sharpness. I did like the fruity ness with the powdery violet. That was unusual, to me anyway, and I liked it. Just stronger overall than expected, so not quite right.

Enid - I love Insolence, but only ever wear it at home. I have loads of fragrances like this. Mitsouko, L'Heure Bleue, Kenzo Amour spring to mind. But totally get you finding it too much!

PIAM - I luuuurve Ninfeo Mio and Ambre Fetiche.

Can somebody please give me a step-by-step for very extremely dim people on decanting perfume? If so, I will send you some Songes PIAM...and open up my perfume wardrobe to any interested parties!

Fancy, I'm not sure if I do it very well (aubergines will be able to tell you in a couple of days!) but I find that the little funnels are very useful. I buy 5ml atomisers, tiny funnels and then just carefully spray into the funnels directly from the FB. It seems to work ok.

Lots of people say you don't need the funnels and can just spray directly into the sample bottles, but I am quite cack-handed.

Bois de Jasmin has a step-by-step article on her blog about how to decant - she uses a sealing product as well but I haven't done that maybe I should

I might be way behind the times, but I have a tip for eBay.de if anyone hasn't done this yet... Open, use Google translate, log in with usual log in details, search however you like then just watch everything you like - It's "observe" in Google translate. Then just go into the normal app or english webpage and it'll be there in your watch list with English language buttons!! Sorry if that's obvious
