I'm meant to be finishing a report for a client (that would be the reason I've got This thread refreshing in the background! Once that's done though, I'm also free for a few days. Was feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning for some reason, but you've all cheered me up. We aren't going out in the camper this weekend, but if it's a nice day tomorrow will focus on 'de-wintering' it so it's ready for use.

Help dress me for a pitch meeting. I am sitting in Costa having a mini meltdown. Invite came in today, meeting on Tuesday. I have ONE appropriate outfit, but I wore it at the first round presentations. I tried on my back up outfit of jersey pencil skirt and unstructured blazer thing this afternoon, but I haven't had a need for it for a couple of months and the skirt will barely stay up and the jacket is massive. Now been invited back for something they coyly describe as an 'informal get-to-know you' with some senior people over a buffet lunch. Oh joy. My idea of hell on earth. So limitations are - dressed up and look like I made an effort, but not too corporate for the company vibe. I have to assume that there will be a lot of standing about so I must be able to wear brogues or loafers - non negotiable really, my reconstructed leg won't take even a small heel. I need to look relatable, kind and tough (simultaneously) empathic but ready to challenge 'old' thinking as they describe it. I also need to sound as if I've got this, but that bit is probably covered. So all that should be easy!

I have the Frances trousers in both black and navy, and the Leith silk tops in both colourways. I also have black patent loafers. So I was thinking if I bought an Audrey jacket, it might be job done? What do you think? And which colourway? I don't want to look either funeral or off to a wedding. If you were to put a combo of these three items together, how would you do it and which colours? (Or any other suggestions you have!). I am only suggesting I stick with hush as I have next to no time to get to a city to shop for this in RL over holiday weekend. Hobbs is just a bit too structured for my chest - I'd find something eventually but there would be a lot of trial and error. Ditto Cos. Boden doesn't have anything I fancy. Tried a blazer on in oasis in my small local HoF but there was a slight scorch mark on it from an iron and they don't have my size online. Have also looked in local m&s but nothing inspires me.

Sorry if this is jumbled, having a panicked mind dump! Just didn't realise nothing suitable fitted!

Love the idea of the frances trousers and the jacket you mentioned. Think that would look nice esp with the brogues. You could then try on both Leith blouses and see which one you like with it as they both have black. The one with the little stars may be just too dark though as you mentioned but it may work.

It would have to be the frances trousers in black and the jacket in black and for me probably the French blue floral blouse and your black brogues.

Failing that you could do the trousers, jacket, brogues and just a simple light coloured blouse.

I suppose the fitgerald jacket would look quite nice with your navy Audrey trousers and a simple blouse under it too.

Done! Thank you, was losing all confidence in my ability to make a decision. Won't risk messing about with delivery from Hush at this late stage over a holiday weekend., have ordered it click and collect from JL, will pick it up in the passing at their Aberdeen store when I see my mum at weekend. Have ordered a couple of sizes to be sure, and will quickly try on in store and get the other refunded there and then.

Goodluck and let us know how you get on with your outfit :)

Thank you :). Thankfully meeting is in England not Scotland, so we'll be back down there on Monday so I can get my trousers and shoes etc. What a palaver.

ilovecherries · 29/03/2018 18:39

I thought I'd been super organised bringing my back up outfit home with me just in case I heard from them. Never even thought to try it on though. Glad I did try it today, or I really would have freaked out on Tuesday.

neveradullmoment99 · 29/03/2018 18:45

Glad you have sorted it out in time :) I really love both of those tops and really like the jacket but I find that If I were to wear the jacket to work, everyone would think I was going for an interview!!! Its pretty casual at work for me. We even get away with trainers. No blue denim though but black denim is fine.

Late to comment but I second the Fitzgerald jacket, it's lovely and good for work, unstructured but still smart/casual vibe. I reckon a 14 will fit you perfectly cherries
What are the Frances trousers like?

Ladies in green you both look fab!

I'd like to see a photo of the patterned jacket too whitney

I wish I would lose this thread sometimes...you ladies are super enabling and I ❤️ it Grin

SoyYo · 29/03/2018 19:32

Doh meant Frances trousers not Audrey...I think they'd be super useful for work but not sure whether to go for usual size 12 or size down
