Someone’s hair drawer has the aroma of warm knickers on the chandelier - Lovely Friendly Perfume Thread 10

Welcome to the long running perfume thread. Discuss Scent of the Day, fave dupes and scents of ALL price brackets. You don’t have to spend a fortune and we will encourage you to get a sample first. That said, hiding your credit card in the freezer is recommended.

Old thread

We also have managed to get a 20% discount on a Perfume Society box and are discussing it on The Big Sniff.

Hello SOTD today is En Passant, reminds me of Chantecaille Wisteria from years ago.

JanetStWalker · 06/02/2018 00:28

Oooh, En Passant is really lovely despite sometimes smelling like plastic on me, it's one I have to spray on clothes to stop my skin screwing it up.

AdiosPeaceOfRoast · 06/02/2018 00:51

Ah interesting, my skin does that too, but not with this for some reason! I have had luck with FM, love L’Eau D’Hiver too, but not the price!

JanetStWalker · 06/02/2018 01:14

The 10mls are such a good option though I may have one of POAL en route. More companies need to offer small sizes for those of with more bottles than we can possible use in a lifetime. Blush

CountFosco · 06/02/2018 05:49

Do need to lay off the purchases though. FB of Amber Mambo came today and the note said something like "hang on, didn't you only just make another order last week?!" The shame...

Do you think Sarah and her team are on here laughing at us and our profligate ways? I am resisting buying all the perfume I want right now because I need new glasses but you're all tempting me so much.

BluebellGal · 06/02/2018 08:18

Grin yes Fosco I think between us and the closed 4160 Facebook group, we’ve probably doubled their sales in the last week. So much enabling going on! They’re obviously super busy because I got a sent delivery receipt at 8pm last night and an email to say sorry about delay (I may have just placed another order for 3 x 9ml Confused my finger must have slipped)

BluebellGal · 06/02/2018 08:20

SOTD (inspired by the Big Sniff) is Ormonde Jayne Vanille d’Iris ... very similar to Avery E actually (thought it was familiar) just more sweetness from the vanilla, lots of powdery Iris and musk like Avery E. But with much stronger silage. ‘Tis gorgeous

teta · 06/02/2018 09:29

Like the sound of the Vanille d’Iris Bluebell. I must order some further samples of the newer perfumes.I love Tiare and Frangipani and have bottles or travel wands of both. But keep on meaning to try Tsarina and the Gold series. I also keep on receiving tempting emails for sets of the new exclusives. However the price dissuades me 😃.
I have dc3&4 off school today with respiratory bugs which they’re probably going to give to me. Sotd is Chanel Bois de Iles for a snowy day.

SoFancy · 06/02/2018 11:50

A day of back to back meeting. I’m back in my lazy comfort perfume, Burberry Women. It’s a soft, fleecy, peachy blanket. Couldn’t function enough this morning to make an actual perfume choice, so this is one of my lazy, no-thinking-required ones.

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 06/02/2018 13:50

Sock your DS sounds amazing! My DDs sometimes wear some of my 90s clubbing stuff (bizarrely back in fashion, apparently Shock) and it gives me the warm and fuzzies!

I wish I lived in London

SOTD is Eat Flowers as a cheering but not too overpowering hospital choice. Gorgeous. Love it. Wrong weather though, sadly. Proper snow where! I might have a bath and go back to Obsession Blush

I really wish more perfumes were available in smaller quantities, not just so I can afford them Grin but for handbags etc, without having to decant with clumsy hands and teeny funnels. My Perfume and Cats Lounge will sell them by the ml, perhaps? I see a market, for sure.

Teta you poor DCs, I hope they don't pass it on to you. It's been a terrible week here health wise and only my gorgeous new samples from kind Perfumistas are keeping me going, tbh. I might have to hide every thread bar this and the Big Sniff as I'm so bloody grumpy!

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 06/02/2018 13:52

Oh and I meant to say SoFancy I know exactly what you mean about not being arsed to choose a proper perfume! Mine is Allure (and perhaps Paloma Picssso). Interested to know what others people have.

OCSockOrphanage · 06/02/2018 13:59

Thank you, Floofy! He has some rewarding moments...

SoTD is the tail end of my sample of Escentric Molecules No4, the grapefruit-y one. I hope it smells divine because, as I should, I can't smell it any more. Please tell me if it's a stinker. Snowing here, but not sticking.

OCSockOrphanage · 06/02/2018 14:01

My CBA scents are some of my recent PPs, the Iris Cedre and the Roses 311, which must be an homage to Le Labo Rose 31.

MrsPestilence · 06/02/2018 14:03

Perfumes by the ml from Perfumista.

SoFancy · 06/02/2018 15:51

A few flakes of snow in north London. I want proper snow, too, Floofy!

I have a few CBA perfumes. Burberry Women, J’Adore, Stella (loved 10 years ago and old habits die hard), some of the Philosophy Grace dull n’ soapy office safe-ers spring to mind.

Soapy florals or low-Sillage gourmands seem to be my lazy choices. I feel like a cop out on those days Grin....but there is also something nice about wearing a slightly boring fragrance you know like the back of your hand.

SoFancy · 06/02/2018 15:53

I’ve never come across that site, MrsP. That’s some special kind of enabling you’ve just done, there. Thanks Grin.

OCSockOrphanage · 06/02/2018 16:12

MrsP, I prostrate myself at your enabling skills, and thank you. You have just cost me 5ml each of Cardinal and Avignon. And I am delighted; I have been miserly with the Cardinal as I am nearly out, and I have not been able to sample Avignon as there's no CDG stockist west of Bristol. And there are no PP dupes for either, or anything similar. And I have been good about sitting on my perfume habit since Christmas (well apart from a TPS box).

JanetStWalker · 06/02/2018 16:34

Nice site, chief enabler! Sadly luckily I seem to have already tried everything appealing. Blush

Another Coromandel day here to accompany the piss poor flakes of 'snow'.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 06/02/2018 18:29

Hello oh scented ones. Been awol at school, and marking and boring stuff involving me hurling either Opium or Shalimar in the vague direction of my.body as I hurtle out of the door.

I did manage to order a handful of Library of F purse sprays though, wintery woody ones and the two incense ones.

BluebellGal · 06/02/2018 18:52

Reporting back- the Ormonde Jayne Vanille d’Iris is gorgeous and still going strong. What a beautiful drydown that just gets better as the day goes on. Mil just complimented me on it too. Applied at 7:30 this morning and not topped up. Impressed

Motoko · 06/02/2018 19:11

Oh MrsP what have you done? Grin I'm another one who has just ordered some samples from that link.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 06/02/2018 19:58

MrsP! Gulp. Time to put the cards in the freezer again...

I did get some more samples today - my TPS joining box finally arrived!! Woohoo!! I also got a Feel Unique parcel which reminded me that I'd ordered some pick n mix samples but they must get posted separately... (or else something's gone wrong with order...). Also waiting on the eBay purchase so absolutely do not need more. Absolutely not. No.

SotD was my CBA in the making scent, Amber Mambo. Yummy yum yum. Except - wouldn't you know it, when something makes you fancy cola cubes, none of the shops have them!!

Judydreamsofhorses · 06/02/2018 20:23

SOTD was Chanel 19 for two hours of root canal. One more lovely session to go!

Snow here, but thankfully it was pretty much gone by lunchtime. Walking to work this morning was really, properly freezing though.

MrsPestilence · 06/02/2018 20:26

No snow here Sad but DH says they had a five min flurry at work. Jolly cold though.

SotD is MG's Plum. Again inspired by E on the big sniff. It is so warm and cuddly, plum and tuberose with a dozen other things hanging around in the background. I can only just smell it due to my sinuses filling up again. Seems there are far too many lurgies around this year. Hope your DC recover soon Teta, preferably without infecting you.

Have resisted buying any 4160s, unlike most people here Grin. You know it is bad Cheap when the personalised notes are that personal.

I have been tempted by the last few things in Lipstick Queen's sale. Blush

TPS do seem to have sent out lots of little extras, repeat orders. Hope they have this under control now. At sometime Blue, you will have to ask how many big sniff discounts they did. I'm just nosy and like statistics.

SoF I think we all have a comfort, no thought perfume. Mine is Mitsouko, most of my coats and scarves have an unmistakable hint of it.

I agree Janet and Floof all perfume companies should be compelled to do 10ml bottles. I probably already have a lifetime supply of perfume Shock

Now I suspect this qualifies as a pink you know what but I posted it on another thread so thought I'd share it here too. It's a bit of a bargain...
