Welcome to the long running perfume thread. Discuss Scent of the Day, fave dupes and scents of ALL price brackets. You don’t have to spend a fortune and we will encourage you to get a sample first. That said, hiding your credit card in the freezer is recommended.

Old thread

We also have managed to get a 20% discount on a Perfume Society box and are discussing it on The Big Sniff.

Laura the new Chloe - Nomad claims : Intense, mineral oak moss is counterbalanced by the voluptuous sweetness of the Mirabelle plum and a flowery luminescence carried by freesia.
Could be amazing, could be a total pink minger - tempted to sample when I see it.

Dior have Forever and Ever, which is freesia and rose. Very flowery.

Love the box and love Tiger. Dd and I came back from London laden with Tiger goodies.
Sotd was PP Mossy Britches thing Grin iirc a dupe of Creed Green Irish Tweed (is it?) something masculine anyway. Nuclear sillage, it reminded me of an old Impulse body spray, the black one, which I think was called Nirvana.
Sotevening is Lonestar Memories.

mrsreynolds · 11/02/2018 20:55

Nirvana!!
Blimey that takes me back!

JanetStWalker · 11/02/2018 21:02

Moss Breches is a hugely sought after, discontinued TF Private Blend. People pay silly money for them on the rare occasions they crop up on fleaBay.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 11/02/2018 21:16

Well I never!
I wonder which one of my samples the Irish mossy one is then!
I loved the Nirvana impulse, and also one in a pink can called Captivation.

Judydreamsofhorses · 11/02/2018 22:52

SOTD was the Big Sniff box one, which I hated, so now in Mitsouko for bed. Yesterday was Lipstick Rose.

bluebell I am loving your storage system too. I have an entire shelf in the bedroom of perfumes - DP calls it “the shelf of wealth”.

mrsreynolds · 12/02/2018 07:58

Taking ds1 to Drs this morning so sexiest scent is sotd
It's so understated yet gorgeous

BluebellGal · 12/02/2018 09:32

SOTD Agonist Isis - Big oriental lots of vanilla

Have a good day smelly ones Grin

FragrantFloozy · 12/02/2018 11:06

Morning!

SOTD is Annick Goutal Songes. If ever there was a perfume that reminds me of the power of fragrance to lift the mood, this is it. Was feeling grey and narky an hour ago, but am now wafting about in a cloud of frangipani, ylang and sunshine Grin

mrsreynolds · 12/02/2018 11:30

I'm I am eagerly awaiting my 4610 testers...should arrive tomorrow!
Had an awful nights sleep so after a Dr appt, breakfast in a cafe and housework I am now planning an afternoon nap 😁
I shall liberally spray myself with sexiest scent first though..
😁

MrsPestilence · 12/02/2018 12:16

SotD is Red Roses, Black Violet & Cyclamen. I'm digging through the cupboard to maintain the violet theme. This one has extra flowers, some spice and no wood, but not too sweet.

JanetStWalker · 12/02/2018 15:45

I've got me a scrubber, folks!

Angel Muse EDT, is straight up cat piss on me. At least the ordinary Muse EDP makes some pretence at being appealing with it's sickly Nutella accord but this thing is just straight up Tom Cat.

mrsreynolds · 12/02/2018 15:54

Its half term and I'm bored so I've done a PP order 😀
DK cashmere mist and narciso poudree 😛

JanetStWalker · 12/02/2018 15:56

Is Bossy Bretches nice then, PerfumeIsAMessage? I've never smelt the original and always wondered if it deserved it's unicorn status.

mrsreynolds · 12/02/2018 17:10

I dont like ANY of of mugler scents janet
I love their flacons though

BigPuddleOfFloofyCatOnTheFloor · 12/02/2018 17:25

Goodness, Impulse Nirvana takes me back. Used to love that, and Natrel deodorant as well, and those little triangular Harmony hair dyes...

Laura have you tried Crabtree and Evelyn, I remember they used to have a freesia range and a freesia perfume (a soliflore IIRC). Probably more of a cologne type scent than a "proper perfume" though.

I would be totally up for a Swapathon! It would give me a good excuse to sort my samples out into a new storage system involving a stationery shop although I probably haven't got as much to offer as a lot of you! (Calm have PMed you btw).

SOTD was originally Sexiest Scent but is now surgical spirit as I dropped and broke a great big bottle of it in the bathroom Angry DH also accidentally broke my best cat mug today too. A nap sounds very tempting right now! Dinner is flapjacks Grin

mrsreynolds · 12/02/2018 17:34

I'm channelling piam and having fried eggs

MotherofTerriers · 12/02/2018 17:38

Hi, new here....looking to learn, and to find a new perfume I really like. Jo Malone's Lime Basil Mandarin has been "my" perfume for years, but it doesn't last and I'm ready for a change. I think I like florals and citrus and figgy smells. And I don't like leather and wood and smoke. Currently trying Le Labo The Noir, (cos it came in an advent calendar) which isn't what I would think of as my sort of smell but I quite like. Thinking of ordering some of the 4160 testers. Amazed at how much people here know about perfume!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 12/02/2018 17:51

Yardley does a soliflore Freesia, I bought one for dd for Christmas, £8 or so on Allbeauty.

Mossy britches is very 90s in your face- it could be a Mugler iyswim? I felt a bit like people were looking at me and thinking why is that sophisticated 50 something wearing such a trendy perfume.

I had the orange coloured natrel deodorant, at the same time as I was wearing Rive Gauche. I was also using a M&S kukui body cream. 1989. How do I know this? Because zooming in on an open cupboard in my student hovel I can see them on the shelf!

Welcome Terriers! Get thee to Perfume Parlour and order your dupes of Jo Malone for starters! Then you'll have lots of extra £££s to buy new stuff with!

Citrussy scents I love are Eau du Sud -Annick Goutal (you would like this I bet as it has a bit of a sharp lime kick to it) Eau d'Hadrien (also AG) Bergamot Soleil -Atelier Cologne, Jade by Yardley (it's amazing- green and crisp and like Chanel Cristalle but cheap as chips) Verveine range by L'Occitane, Lemon by Mary Greenwell, lots of the Guerlain Aqua Allegorias....Liz Earle Botanical Essence n 1...

Don't know if they still have it, but at Christmas, Superdrug was flogging off something called Lime Basil Mandarin by Bloom. It was £4.99 and is fab.

teta · 12/02/2018 17:59

Love Freesia scents.
The Crabtree & Evelyn one is pretty and fresh but you need to marinade yourself in it to make it last.
E Coudray Musc n Freesia is has a piercing Freesia top note and is pretty ephemeral but just lovely while it lasts.
Also Byredo Tulipe ( Freesia plus other florals) and Phaedon Concombre - cucumber top notes followed by Freesia - it’s interesting!
Finally received my vials so I will send out the Bois de iles tomorrow .

JanetStWalker · 12/02/2018 18:05

Mossy Britches is out then if it's at all Mugleresque! My Natrel was green, bloody nice it was too.

mrsr, they're hard work aren't they. Alien Essence Absolute is the only one I can stomach and even then it has to be on the right day.

MotherofTerriers, I quite like these figs: Ninfeo Mio, Annick Goutal. Philosykos, Diptyque. Pulp, Byredo for lush, overripe red fruits and fig.

I notice SpaceNK has £15 off when you spend £60 using code FAVE60. Until midnight.

mrsreynolds · 12/02/2018 18:11

Oh I love freesia
Such a pretty scent
Ephemeral is a good word!
Terriers i would suggest the tester kit from 4610. Lots of beautiful scents to try 😁
They do some great florals
Perfume parlour also do some great dupes...the no malone ones seem well thought of

MotherofTerriers · 12/02/2018 19:16

Thank you all so much. I think you are going to be a Bad Influence...
