Lipstick Challenge January 2018.

Come my pretties.... Some of us did this last year, the idea of this is wearing a different lipstick everyday. I have more lipsticks than you can shake a stick at, I collect them.

Today I wore Kiko metal lipstick in Unconventional Gold, from their Arctic Holiday collection. It wasn't very pigmented, but it still looked pretty, (I'm partly blaming this on the condition of my lips, as they're as dry as the Sahara at the moment, and a bit flaky and scabby and disgusting at the moment to boot.) I will post a picture of the lipstick in a bit, it looks very pretty in the tube.

Buster that colour looks stunning, I can’t wait to try it.

Sapphire that black looks amazing! For some reason I’ve never looked at metallics, I might have to swatch some.

I’m wearing Nars matte velvet pencil in Cruella today. Pic doesn’t do it justice, it’s a lovely red. I bought this on holiday years ago and have always wanted to try some of the other colours in the range. It’s so lightweight I forget I'm wearing anything.

Glovesandhats, I have about 20 lipsticks so it was necessary for me to buy more in order to complete this January challenge

I reckon between lipsticks and glosses I have around 30, which is a pathetic number for a make up lover I find that if I have too many they do my head in so I have to keep numbers manageable

I have Sultry too, Gloves! I have quite a few of those matte balms. I like them. Today I am wearing Colourpop Lippie Stix in Lumiere, which is a matte pinky nude. I realise I tend to stick to either sheer nudes, like the Revlon Lip Butters or reds or corals, so I'm going to try to go through the more pigmented nudes, pinks, berries and deeper shades, particularly the latter as I don't like to wear those come spring for some reason.

I think I must have 30 to 40.

I'm running into the hundreds, possibly past a thousand if I count all my lipglosses and liquid lipsticks, (I had a huge box of glosses stashed in my friend's garage, I took it home and got rid of about 90% as I don't really wear lipgloss. My friend was most impressed when I sent her a picture.) I have a week off work next week, I'll count them all then! Might take some pictures too.

isam and Gloves, thank you! It's not quite a black, more of a dark taupe-y grey, but I've already fallen in love with it.

I'm not wearing any lipstick at the present time, just a new lip-balm I got in the sales. It smells and tastes lovely (peppermint) but it's one of those oily liquid ones that does nothing for my lips. When something says lip butter on the tube I expect it to be a bit more solid! Shame, as I have some lip butters from the same brand (also in tubes) that are more solid and work much better for me.

Totally agree re Rimmel smell. Had a fab Red Nose Day lipstick but put off by smell that lingered.
Yay to Kiko. Love their lipsticks except their odd lip stain that lasted about 5 mins except for at lip margins where lasted about 12 hours! Think it may have been me raving last year Sapphire. I remember your stash and I’ve been totally encouraged to expand my collection.

Pinkie Yup, you were raving about Kiko and I about Esscence matte lipsticks! I still have those and wear them quite a bit. They did bring out some more colours, some of which are very funky.

What shade of NYX lippy are you wearing?

I realised it was poor form to ask people for their numbers without offering my information So I duly counted and in the bathroom I have 33 (this includes chubby stick things, butters and liners etc but excludes clear or tinted lip balms). I dread to count the various ones in cars, pockets, handbags etc! Mine are all the cheaper end of the market though apart from a couple of ancient Chanel/Clarins ones.

Interestingly I had a Revlon lip butter in the car the other day that was frozen solid and I had to defrost it in the house. Lovingly. Like it was a tiny bird or something.

@AnotherPinkiePieStory I love that shade. Are NYX lipsticks good? I ve tried their eyeliners and wasn't too impressed so never really bought their products again

Their matte lipsticks are great - good range of colours, creamy finish, long lasting colour, non-drying. All their other lip products that I have tried have been terrible

Sapphire, I agree that Essence matte lipsticks are also excellent. I am in awe of the size of your lipstick collection!

I have 71 - that includes everything from clear lipgloss, tinted lip balms, normal lipsticks to different kinds of liquid lipsticks. Most are full sized products, but there is a handful of smaller sized lipsticks.
I have not added my clear lipbalms, though.

And this is the reason why I am trying to use up what I have, not buy new and bin stuff I don't use (or back-to-Mac the Mac lipsticks).

Today, I'm wearing Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Likely.
It's a warm peach matte liquid lipstick, but one that doesn't dry on the lips, so it is quite comfortable to wear.
It's not a colour I'm used to wearing, so it feels too pale and warm on me, but after a while, it seems to fade/change to something I am more comfortable wearing.

isam that is a gorgeous red! Is it brighter or darker irl?

Today is nyx lip lingerie in embellishment. A bit too purpley for me, it has excellent lasting power though

Another day, another neutral. This is Bourjois Rouge Edition in Rose Tweed. Very nice 🙂

Is embellishment from the advent calendar? I tried that one before Xmas but it made me look a bit dead. 😱

I'd add to that their Wicked lippies (if you want mad metallic colours) and their liquid suede ones*, (which go from sky blue to nude,) although I agree that their matte lipsticks are fabulous. (I love Haze, that was my first grey lipstick.) The Macaron lippies are variable, the best is Black Sesame (another grey.)

Thank you. I spend way too much money on make-up! I justify it because I live with my in-laws (low rent) and don't smoke or drink (or do much else ). Although I'm going to have to start saving up this year, I need to move out before I turn into Professor Snape for good and possibly commit murder.

*I collected all 24 of these over several months. I think I bought about seven using my Boots points though, so they were technically free.

I randomly threw some Essence lipsticks into trolley in Wilko before xmas and forgot who recommended. Thanks Sapphire. Like so far and will wear tomorrow. Off work so can go bright. I wear a mask at work which upsets the lipstick somewhat!
Only ever tried Nyx liquid suede which I like but will check my collection to see. I really liked the look of advent calendar to try something new everyday but given that I had bought a 6 bold lip set from Sephora and Clinique 4 lipstick set, thought I should restrain.

Loving the lipstick collection numbers. I will count tomorrow when back home! Wearing very dull Super model shine from Rosie this pm. Nice enough but I want more colour really!

Just found this thread and I am joining. I have 22 lipsticks (compared to 3 eyeshadow sets, 1 mascara, 1 foundation, 1 blusher etc.) and yet they are the item I use the least as my lips are pretty thin (and I usually focus on my eyes as they are one of my better features!)

180 Wow! Don’t you lose track? I keep forgetting what I have and they don’t see the light of day for months... need a logging system or something

rock yes that’s one of the colours from the calendar. There were some really unusual colours in the calendar this one wasn’t too bad. It looks better with just one coat, two or more and it gets darker and heavier looking. I think I kept around 15 of the 24 from the calendar (most of the others were nice, they just didn’t suit my colouring), how many did you like?

I've only got rid of the really pale pink butter lipstick so far, which was embarrassingly bad on me. For all the others I am going to wear them for at least a day and see.

I've just tried on Rouge Noir, it's kind of nice. Unusual. I might wear it tomorrow as a stain. A bit too much for work I think, and that's rare for me to say!
