Lipstick Challenge January 2018.

Come my pretties.... Some of us did this last year, the idea of this is wearing a different lipstick everyday. I have more lipsticks than you can shake a stick at, I collect them.

Today I wore Kiko metal lipstick in Unconventional Gold, from their Arctic Holiday collection. It wasn't very pigmented, but it still looked pretty, (I'm partly blaming this on the condition of my lips, as they're as dry as the Sahara at the moment, and a bit flaky and scabby and disgusting at the moment to boot.) I will post a picture of the lipstick in a bit, it looks very pretty in the tube.

Today I'm wearing my Chanel rouge allure velvet in La Somptueuse. It's a dark red with a hint of brown. I've forgotten how amazing it is as I've not worn it in ages.

That's a gorgeous colour Buster. Do you rate Chanel lipsticks for their formula? I'm often tempted to get one but I have heard that while the packaging is gorgeous, they don't perform any better than your average lipstick

It looks very bright red in the photo, but i feel it's more of a browny red in real life, I bought it after seeing Rooney Mara wearing it to a film premiere and I thought 'I must have that lipstick!'

Lotta I do rate the Rouge Velvets, it was my first matt lipstick purchase (high end anyway) and I do love it. I also have a Rouge Allure, I'll wear it tomorrow to remind myself of it, but I certainly rate the Velvets.

I actually own Rouge Noir but I'm unsure if it suits me! But I'll give it a spin tomorrow!

I have the dreaded thin upper lip, that seems to vanish when I smile.....does lipstick make us types appear...odd??

No way Soul wear your lipstick with pride! I don't think it really matters so long as you have confidence!

Totally agree. You don't need perfect lips to be able to wear lipstick, however loud!

Yes join Plane (?). I love hearing the recommendations. DD chose my lipstick today. Pretty dull Clinique chubby stick balm with the vaguest hint of colour. Pink Sherbert. Lovely texture and after a few days of matte lipsticks, a welcome change but I like to make a statement! Def need to take photos in better light though.

I wore Rimmel Trendsetter today. The colour is very much a dupe for Velvet Teddy (possibly slight more mauve). I love the colour but it absolutely stinks! Why they add these strong smells i will never know.

There is an extra 10% off at the mo which makes it £119 or £9 something per lipstick. Pretty impressive since they are £25 normally!

Revlon have brought out a black lipstick! But they're not selling it in the UK! I'm sure I can find it on eBay though. Anyway...

My offering today is Kiko Chill Taupe. Excuse the shitty picture, I used my tablet to take it and the lighting in my room is dire, but the colour is pretty accurate. It also feels really moisturising and smells like cake.

I love metallic lipsticks! I think they add something a bit different. Matte is still king, I think, but I like a bit of shimmer. Matte metallic lipsticks give you the best of both worlds! I love them too! ❤

Today I wore Tom Ford - Sophia.

Sapphire am I right in thinking that you had a huge selection of lipsticks stored at your mums or something and you desperate to get them back???

Somewhat, it was my friend's house! I got them back and got rid of about half! I only kept the ones I really like. Hasn't stopped me buying more though, but I'm trying to stick to things I know I'll really like. (The main culprits that I got rid of were Avon, as the swatches never look the same as the actual lipstick when you get it, (I've got wise now and Google things.) Rimmel, as I don't like the way they smell, and Maybelline ones I never really wore anyway.) I still kept the three 17 lipsticks I've had since I was 17, ironically. I do still have a lot of Maybelline, I love the formula of their matte lipsticks, I have the Vivids and Color Pop collections, and loads of the 14 hour superstay ones. I have far too many lipsticks! Lipstick and chocolate are my guilty pleasures.

Thank you! 2017 was the beginning of a love affair with Kiko! They had some fabulous limited edition collections, I was powerless to resist!

I agree about Rimmel, they are so fake vanillary smelling, they kind of make my lips itchy too!

Cheap bubble bath scent, I think the Kate Moss ones were the worst, the same with MUA lipsticks that smell like fake coconut. I don't mind the MUA liquid lipstick scent though, they smell like Calpol, and Rimmel matte lipsticks smell nice, why can't their other ones?! Then you get the high end brands like Urban Decay and Smashbox that aren't scented, but smell like crayons, which I hate. I wonder if the ones I got from those two brands being matte had anything to do with it? Revlon lipsticks smell of nothing, which is preferable to crayons or nasty scents.

As for other brands, I love the smell of lipsticks from L'Oreal (sweeties), Maybelline (Play-Doh), GOSH and MAC (vanilla), and Make Up Forever, (Parma Violets), and the Revlon Love Is On lipstick, which is hard to describe. I know some people hate the L'Oreal and Maybelline scents, but I don't find them off-putting.

I like the scent of L'Oréal and Lancôme (I think they smell very similar) they are my favorite smelling lipsticks ever.

Also very jealous that people can pull off black lipstick, as I'm so pale I just look like an badly aging goth trying to revisit my youth

I have been sticking with Aveeno and cherry Carmex here as under the weather, and also have a load of mouth ulcers tormenting me. I have risked Revlon Colourburst matte stick (think shade is Sultry) today though, it's almost a balm apologies as poor lighting and I look like shit but the shade is quite a close MLBB for me.
