Little B I have a sample of Delina by Marly and also Chloé - I just tried both they don’t smell alike even though notes are similar. Delina is a much sweeter rose with a strong note of rhubarb which is softer than the rhubarb in the new 4160 rhubarb and custard might appeal (but they smell nothing like each other. I would describe Delina as a sweet fruity rose, it’s almost a gourmand so I can see why you were surprised there is rose in it (it’s well blended but definitely there as a main note).

Very pleased that the dentist could fit me in today, so hopefully I can get that pesky tooth sorted (but worried I’ll need my first root canal!)

BluebellGal · 20/11/2017 09:51

^ sorry little B that was a bit garbled! 4160 rhubarb & custard might appeal as a rhubarb gourmand but it’s smells nothing like Delina! I am not an expert in rhubarb perfumes but I now others are, so perhaps they can suggest something else to try.

MrsMacNally · 20/11/2017 09:55

It's a rite of passage BluebellGrin

BluebellGal · 20/11/2017 10:02

Grin mrsmac we need a tooth emoji don’t we? I’m trying to enjoy my day off, although I’m in pain, the tantruming one is in nursery and I’m surrounded by a box of samples to try. It’s gonna be a good day!

mintmagnummm · 20/11/2017 10:52

Thank you Mrs.
The Lolita lempika is the original I believe? It lists liquorice, iris as couple of notes, do you know which one I mean?
I will check out the Chloe edp thank u, think I’ve smelled and liked that one in past but can’t be sure.
I haven’t tried any of those others you listed though so will definitely have a sniff if I can. Thanks again.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 20/11/2017 13:01

Bluebell, hope you get the tooth sorted quickly and with as little pain as possible.

I'm back in Rome 1963 today - suits the dreary day.

BluebellGal · 20/11/2017 17:12

SOTD LADDM ... comforting on a dark and misty day

Dentist confirmed what I thought- I’ve been suffering stress induced teeth grinding, resulting in tooth and jaw pain. I’ve worn holes in the plastic guard Blush so she’s going to make me a hard guard. Apparently it helps the muscles relax as it fixes your jaw in a relaxed position. All sounds wonderful except the price tag- £450! I’ve got until February to decide. In the meantime, I need to factor in more relaxation into my FT working mum schedule Hmm

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 20/11/2017 17:33

Oh Bluebell - I bet when she said "more relaxation you were thinking "more?!". Hard to get any with FT job and small people to take care of... Hopefully you at least get a break over Christmas!

SotD was "number44" aka not Perfume Parlour Addict. Fabulous longevity!

CountFosco · 20/11/2017 18:35

Oh Bluebell those teeth troubles don't sound good. How did she tell you relax more at this time of year with a straight face?

I have just come out of a meeting where it was suggested I might have to go to the States for a couple of weeks before Christmas Shock. Think I need to crack on with Christmas preparations, we've got the ILs coming for a week and I've not made my pudding yet and hardly bought anything (except for perfume, a couple of books and the most fabulous shoes for myself).

CountFosco · 20/11/2017 18:39

Forgot to say SotD BBW honeysuckle. Simple white floral, I love it! And can finalky smell again after last week's cold.

explodingkittens · 20/11/2017 20:19

Ugh that was a long and mildly stressy day. Dark Heart has lasted well though, especially the cleavage spritz Grin

Apparently my Captured by Candlelight is on its way oh did I mention I'd bought that? I can't wait to smell like a boozy Christmas pud!

MrsPestilence · 20/11/2017 20:45

Congratulations on smelling again Count Grin

Glad to hear Number 44 is good stuff Cheap

Well done for surviving the day with cleavage power Kittens

Blue you may need to look relax up in a dictionary and forward the information to your dentist. You will get to relax in about 16 years, although some are fortunate and get a little lull around age eight (don't let this fool you into thinking you are a good parent, they then work towards being teenagers).

Count - but think of the duty freeSmile

BluebellGal · 20/11/2017 21:14

Thanks ladies Grin looking forward to relaxing in 16 years time then (that is if I don’t have another one). Just had a lovely bath, Diptyque candle on and 4160 Silk lace and chocolate on.

BluebellGal · 20/11/2017 21:15

I’m interested to hear what your verdict is kittens on captured by candlelight as this is a contender for Xmas scent.

BluebellGal · 20/11/2017 21:31

Oh no count that sounds tricky, but indeed think of the money you’ll save while living on expenses (to spend on duty free and M&S ready made Xmas food)

Judydreamsofhorses · 20/11/2017 21:35

Post 666... SOTD was Chanel 19. Was out for tea with a former student - class of 2012 - after work which was so lovely. She’s done so well and is moving to another city this weekend for a fabulous new job.

bluebell poor you. What is the guard you have just now? Mine is rigid plastic, a bit like I imagine false teeth would be like, and after a few weeks of wearing it my jaw was back in the right place. It cost far less as my Dentist wrote to the health board and made a case for it to be made on the NHS. Meanwhile, my teeth are still painful and I am going in tomorrow.

CountFosco · 20/11/2017 21:39

Any money saved by living on expenses will be eaten up by the additional childcare we'll need I think. Which I need to sort out because I always insist DH sorts out childcare when he travels with work.

Anyway, duty free you say. What are your perfume recommendations for the States? But don't make it too good a list because the way this customer are they'll have changed their mind again by next week and I won't have to go.

explodingkittens · 21/11/2017 07:07

SOTD is Chergui. I've not worn this for a while, having overlooked it in favour of LADDM/Avignon/Dark Heart for a hit of autumnal comfort. But this really is a classic. I get tobacco, honey, rose and hay, plus a coffee note depending on where I sniff Smile. It's so smooth and beautiful, nothing harsh or jarring. Perfect. Christopher Sheldrake really is a very clever chap.

explodingkittens · 21/11/2017 07:24

I would definitely be checking out branches of Sephora if I was in the USA Count. And if I was going to New York I'd try to get to Aedes De Venustas in ?Greenwich Village.

OCSockOrphanage · 21/11/2017 09:29

Bois de Jasmin's blog yesterday was all about perfumista bait, so I clicked. Dark roses, fellow travellers, incense and oudh: in fact, all our favourites. Me? I was wearing Vert d'Enscens.

Pondering today's choice and wanting to be contrarian about it. I shall come back later, after the decision is made, SockDog is walked and my phone-sitting shift and meeting finished.

BluebellGal · 21/11/2017 09:30

Ah that’s a shame Count - usually one of the perks of travelling for work (I also think work should pay for extra childcare as it’s an expense you wouldn’t otherwise have).

SOTD is 4160 Rhubarb & Custard- I’m thinking it’s a bit much in the office today. The poor new chap who sits behind me must be thinking I suffer from BO Blush

BluebellGal · 21/11/2017 09:33

Judy I currently have a flexible thick plastic guard that was custom made. She wants to make me a mouth splint next which is completely rigid and she promises it will help reset my jaw, whereas the one I wear now doesn’t do that. So sorry to hear you’re still suffering from tooth pain- that’s horrible Flowers

CountFosco · 21/11/2017 12:55

(I also think work should pay for extra childcare as it’s an expense you wouldn’t otherwise have).

Might have to suggest it. My boss will spontaneously combust (he can't quite cope with a mother as an employee as it is) but there are other managers that might be more amenable. DH actually does most of the school run anyway so we might manage it by rejigging things over a couple of weeks. But nothing is decided yet.

SotD What I did on my Holidays. Love the minty start to this. It's fading now and I'm in the office by myself so might respray just for the joy of that. How often do you respray? I've thought something has completely faded by the end of the day but DH (who doesn't have a great sense of smell) will tell me he can still smell it. And I'd hate to be one of those people with overpowering perfume. But on the other hand that's reasonably rare, I can only think of a couple of colleagues whose fragrance I'm aware of in any way.

MrsPestilence · 21/11/2017 14:03

SotD is Fleur dOranger Baie Rose LAtelier des Bois de Grasse , Thank Green. DH is having another attempt at finding you a Travelo at TLMaxx.

Fucking heck that lift thread is full of some of the nastiest, self centred, entitled bigots I have ever encountered on MN. I knew lift etiquette was poor is this country but I am shocked. I miss lift attendants, evidently the general public can not be trusted to have manners or common sense. Rant over.
