Bluebell obviously my “FFS every time” was not aimed at your Prada Infusions (unfortunate cross post Blush) but rather my inability to ever attach a photo competently

PS bonus points to anyone who can identify the attached list which wasn’t actually my perfume list (or shopping list through it bears a striking similarity) I know someone will!

MrsPestilence · 19/11/2017 12:34

Bonus points please can they be spent on perfume?

I think we may not be in so much danger of a gang or quiche as opposed to a sect or cult. Are we inclusive? I think I only joined in on thread three or so. Also due to stealthy name changes I am never sure if people are new, returners or regulars. Doesn't really matter, does it?

A little jealous of the Tauer's arriving. Remember we are not allowed to stalk Andy. We seems like a nice man, who might find us scary.BlushGrinBlush So MrsM are we staying at his place or do we have to get a cottage near Zurich?

Brilliant advert for Bloom Kittens

Bran thanks for the tip off about Lush perfumes. I had also noticed they still have 10mls online. Kittens keep sitting on those hands.

Judy hope the tooth calms down soon. They can take months Sad

PiaM it is not essential to agree with LT . Your nose is valid, especially with your skin chemistry. Watching perfume critics spray on paper and into the air and announcing in 90 seconds flat what their opinion is, infuriates me.

Thanks for the tip off about All Beauty MrsS

MrsR try clearing the cookies, cache, history and everything. My phone get overwhelmed by MN sometimes. I think it after updates and the poor simple thing is confused.

littleB you could try Chloe EdP it has the same rose, lychee, peony notes. or Montale do some nice rose based perfumes.

Motoko a notebook you say. Some people on this thread are nearly as obsessed with stationary as they are perfume Grin

Floofy have you thought of selling your DC? I did not succeed with this tactic.

OP posts:
GlovesAndHatsAndFloofyCats · 19/11/2017 13:05

I knew someone would get it Smile Absolutely points for perfume MrsP, I rather think they should be spent on L’Interdit as a sort of pleasing tie in with the theme!

Motoko · 19/11/2017 13:48

Ah yes, stationary. The trouble is, there are so many lovely notebooks out there!

And Grin at that list.

MrsMacNally · 19/11/2017 14:37

A chalet perhaps? Pest - sadly, a Swiss jaunt involving me might need to be a there and back in a day affair using Easy Jet's most bargainous flights...or at a push, a night in a youth hostel. No chocolates or cuckoo clocks from duty free either

And before we go any further, do we know if any of his other european suppliers carry his discovery boxes, as they may post to the UK?

MrsMacNally · 19/11/2017 14:42

Please can our next thread title be ' the one with copious cat hair on our [scented] negligees'?

MrsMacNally · 19/11/2017 15:01

LittleB - if you want to max-out on the rhubarb and vanilla notes you could take a punt on this crowd-funded project 4160Tuesday's Rhubarb & Custard. 3 x 9mls for £29 still available.

explodingkittens · 19/11/2017 15:37

Worry not Pest, my hands are firmly sat-upon. I am now definitely at the stage where have more than enough to keep me occupied. I think that now what I need is a period of reflection and contemplation, getting to know some of the delights of the sample box properly, rather than bouncing between all my goodies like an over-excited puppy Grin

However, I do now need to construct my Xmas wish list, as dp has been asking for 'this mythical list of yours' Which of my discoveries from the last few months are truly FB-worthy...?

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 19/11/2017 16:02

Motoko I have a dedicated perfume notebook - it has my stash list, to try list and daily log. Possibly a bit meta but you could always have a notebook log Grin

PerfumeIsAMessage · 19/11/2017 17:51

I may have ordered a bottle of Opium from Allbeauty.

If you spend £50 you apparently will receive a £20 amazon voucher. You need to click through to Allbeauty from Voucher codes uk. It seems legit, as with my bottle of Opium and my Dior mazzie (which I needed anyway, she protests loudly) I went just over £50 and immediately got an email (from Voucher codes) telling me they'll let me know when my Amazon voucher is ready.

Baaaaaaders! Knowing is 40% off on AB today.

Sadly, I can't get the discovery Tauers from Alla Violetta but I can get 2ml samples of everything, which keeps me going.

I have prepared my thingy for the 13 yr olds, after panicking that I was going to be standing there and bombing, I thought about a What the Romans did For Us treasure hunt! My 5th years are going to be my models and walk around holding turnips and things, and the kids have to decide which the Romans gave us, eliminating the red herrings.

Might be a bit more go-ey than the talk about the sculptures in the British that the classics teacher suggested.
Am about to have a bath, and a spray of something spicey and Christmassy to reward myself.

explodingkittens · 19/11/2017 18:06

Am bathed, and in SL Feminite du Bois. Gorgeous woody, cinnamon-spice and peach. I really can't get enough of these warm-spicys at the moment.

Hope your treasure hunt goes well PIAM! I really should do some work this evening but ugh, can't be bothered Blush Am really having trouble motivating myself, workwise, at the moment. Cozying up on the sofa with a blanket, some crochet and a delicious scent is much more appealing than schlepping in and out of the office in the dark everyday!

PerfumeIsAMessage · 19/11/2017 18:40

Boiling hot shower, would have liked a bath, but it's hairwash day

Au Coeur du Desert leaped into my hands. Bliss.

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/11/2017 19:12

SOTD is FM Lipstick Rose, teamed with my velvet “lounge pants”, Uggs and huge jumper. I haven’t left the house since Friday and have just been doing reading/junk telly and baths. Perfect weekend.

mrsP I’m back at the dentist on 5 December but do wonder whether it’s settling or failed. She said she would have liked to be fractionally closer to the root end, and it could be redone if need be, but that she was pleased with it on the final x-ray. I am at the stage where I just want to be free of toothache, even if I need to get a bank loan. This saga started in April!

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 19/11/2017 19:30

Sounds like an ideal weekend Judy Fingers crossed the wait until December 5th is bearable...

SotD was JPG Scandal - described as a Honey Chypre and that seemed fair. I'm not too keen on honey but DH is and liked it, and there was enough peach for me to not find the honey overbearing.

That stepped aside after a trip to the Christmas market/light switch on where we found a stall doing 30ml perfums "inspired by all your favourites" for £10 a go - basically just like Perfume Parlour but you get to try them first. They did have a fair few PMs but picked up some Addict (or the more catchy no44!!). I don't think it counts as spending if you'd otherwise have invested in overpriced brownies does it?!

mintmagnummm · 19/11/2017 19:32

Bit late but can I join??

My last eat two perfume discoveries are Lolita lempicka and givenchy very irresistible. Love both!

My long time faves are organza, poeme, noa, bvlgari femme (or now known as iris I believe?), prada Milano, that’s all I can think of at mo

mrsreynolds · 19/11/2017 21:03

Floofy... im so glad you like it! It is indeed the same nose...the great Sophia grosjman 😁

Passion is also rather lovely imo

mrsreynolds · 19/11/2017 21:05

PIAM...
40% OFF!!??

😁❤

MrsPestilence · 19/11/2017 21:09

Welcome Mint you are another rose and peony fan, you would probably like similar things to littleB .

For more iris try Aedes de Venustas - Iris Nazarena a different twist with leather and wood mixed with iris.

BluebellGal · 19/11/2017 21:22

Hi everyone, enjoying reading up on everyone’s posts, but nothing much to add to thread. The perfumista cottage sounds fun! Had a tough weekend of bad toothache (brought on by stress and teeth grinding) and a tantruming toddler who has broken me today! Day off tomorrow = emergency trip to dentist (not quite the relaxing day off I had planned)! Fingers crossed Judy that the dentist sorts your tooth out on Dec 5 - it’s been far too long to live with the pain and I feel for you!

Off to put on the PJs and dab myself with LADDM

BluebellGal · 19/11/2017 21:29

floofy don’t worry I didn’t see your post but I had the same ffs running through my head at the time, then straight after my post my young child decided to pour a whole bottle of water on my iPhone. It’s spent the whole day drying out.

Honestly she was watching Peppa Pig at the time so thought it was ok to MN...feeling like a bad Mum now wondering when the ‘terrible 2s’ will end!

mintmagnummm · 20/11/2017 06:42

Mrspestilence that’s interesting, it’s weird because I actually really dislike the smell of rose on its own!
I haven’t seen what littleb likes couldn’t manage to read all the posts, oops. I’ll try to scroll up and see if I can see any. Thanks for the warm welcome 💐

explodingkittens · 20/11/2017 07:54

SOTD Dark Heart of Old Havana

Welcome mint

Happy Monday all!

MrsPestilence · 20/11/2017 08:20

Rose is a funny one Mint and often discussed. Pure rose is not an interesting perfume. Yardley rose soap is a rather nice treat though (the soapiness goes with rose). Rose is a promiscuous note, it goes with loads. A lot of us here are after a smokey, skanky rose perfume.

littleB likes Delina but not the £175 price tag. Chloe EdP has similar notes.

Which Lolita Lempicka do you like (they make loads), is it sweet?

Finding a new perfume can be a challenge because there are thousands of them to choose from.
So hints to help

  1. If you like a couple of perfumes from the same house, try more.
  2. Find out who the nose is, and try other stuff made by them
  3. Search Fragrantica, identify the main notes and then try and track down stuff that has similar notes.
  4. Order a set of samples and see if you like any.
  5. Always try and get a sample so you can try it out for a couple of days, skin chemistry matters.
  6. Don't buy a full bottle blind or maybe set a £12.99 limit.
  7. Accept it can be an expensive hobby and stick to your budget (it is cheaper than smoking Grin)
  8. Are all your favourites fruity florals? Look for more. Dig around in the perfume dirrectory

Have you tried Agent Provocateur , 4160's Who Knew, Union's Gunpowder Rose or JhaG's Mad Madame?

OP posts:
MrsMacNally · 20/11/2017 08:38

Always liked the (discontinued) Lyn Harris La Rose for M&S (turns up on ebay) as well as 4160s Who Knew?, the Jane Packer RRBV&C, and for skank, TF's Scent. And the other TF's Noir de Noir. Either of the JhAG Vengeances are pleasant if not especially memorable.

Lots of JhaG as well a few Bond No.9s in the All Beauty outlet. Enabler badge for MrsS. Quite fancied the OdlR Sargasso - anyone tried?
