Not exactly Janet - had to get rid of a car after a chocolate milkshake incident Blush.

No, the Jicky smell may be where the tart citrus hits the vanilla and you get a moment of curdled milk.

MrsMacNally · 15/11/2017 23:29

Pest - hope DD is OK?

Feel like I've missed a major trick not naming DC after perfumes rated 5* by LT/TS. Could have had Jicky and Calyx. Grin

explodingkittens · 16/11/2017 06:53

SOTD is Clinique Aromatics in White. Am interviewing for my programme this morning, so need something inoffensive for spending the entire morning in a tiny cubicle with nervous 17-year-olds Grin

Got an email last night to say my Tauer order is on its way - squeee!

Perhaps Dune, for a boy?

MrsMacNally · 16/11/2017 08:36

In fact I should perhaps have run with Luca and Tania Smile.

A rummage in the sample box for SotD has produced Heliotrope by Etro. (Almond kernels?).

MrsPestilence · 16/11/2017 08:37

DD is named after a perfume, this is coincidental as if was created after her and has been discontinued. Have decided not to discontinue DD but to try and steer her to ventures new.

SotD is PW Girl.

Naming DC after perfumes is inspired GrinUnfortunately no more DC for me but I’m thinking it would also work with kittens (which is my secret plan atm). I’m thinking three little siblings called Jicky, Shalimar and Opium Arpege? As some of my DC already have names worthy of a very judgy MN WTF Baby Name thread Blush this sounds eminently reasonable to me.

MrsP I’m desperate to know your DD’s name Blush

Judy your manager sounds lovely - I eventually lost my career due to my health (although to be fair they were very good and hung on to me for a long time) and when I finally left my manager said to me “you just think about the times you weren’t in the office but I think about the times you were in and probably shouldn’t have been and appreciated it” which has really stayed with me and changed my mindset a lot. I think a lot of women carry a lot of guilt over a lot of things and we should actually give our selves a lot more credit

I have so far resisted the pull of the Tauers. Halo I know I’ll jinx it now and post this and immediately crack and buy some Grin

Hope everyone has a guilt free and peaceful day!

MrsMacNally · 16/11/2017 09:18

I'm feeling vicariously claustrophobic reading about the rest of you spending your days in very small spaces.

Still running with naming after perfumers, you could have Sophia and Jean-Claude...

MrsMacNally · 16/11/2017 09:25

Floof - ideal! Perhaps though you should be looking at flankers Grin

BluebellGal · 16/11/2017 10:09

SOTD Noix de Tubereuse by Miller Harris. Love it now the deydown has kicked in

BluebellGal · 16/11/2017 10:09

*drydown! Bloody phone

explodingkittens · 16/11/2017 10:35

I think I might have oversprayed GrinShock

CountFosco · 16/11/2017 12:54

Exploding you need to overspray in anticipation of the 17 year olds wearing PMs surely?

I could breath when I woke up this morning, halleluyah! But one of my managers is off sick poor thing I'm blaming someone else for her getting sick and the carpark is worryingly empty in the morning. We've all had flu jabs, someone needs to introduce a cold jab as well.

CountFosco · 16/11/2017 13:00

SotD still Olbas oil though I did venture some BBW japanese cherry blossom which smells quite plummy.

Stil not cracked on the Tauer or Gingembre yet Halo though the Gingembre is on my wishlist for Christmas now. Got the first Amazon delivery for Christmas from my family. SIL has bought DD1 a chemistry set, I am beyond jealous. Now to get her a labcoat...

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 16/11/2017 13:48

A labcoat!! DS1 has P themed fancy dress for children in need at school tomorrow so I've just been to get some bits to cobble together a Prince costume and can't believe I didn't think of a labcoat to send him in as a perfumer!

Amen to the feminist rants.

I loved my chemistry sets as a child. I remember making crystal gardens with Water Glass, copper sulphate, potassium permanganate and any other coloured crystals I could get my hand on. They were so beautiful.

Drole d' Rose is my Sotd. This is so warm and comforting with the anise opening .I used to wear this in bed but I'm currently using This works sleep spray which works at helping me sleep but doesn't smell as nice.

Hi bananasaregood I'm not sure I have any helpful suggestions but I'm sure others will.
Exploding I'm sure they felt quite at home with you.Knowing that you like perfume too, is a bonding moment.

MrsPestilence · 16/11/2017 14:48

Welcome Bananas some ideas to get you started

Pharrell Williams Girl meets your brief of spicey woods, and is dirt cheap plus it is by Comme de Garcons and good quality.

4160 Tuesdays A Kiss by the Fireside is right up your street (which is similar to mine).

Roullier White does samples, a way not to waste money. If the link works it should take you to a suitable selection to peruse.

BluebellGal · 16/11/2017 14:55

Welcome bananas if you’re looking for niche, try Bloom sample packs too - they are very reasonably priced.

Oxford by Ruth Mastenbroek is more green than woods but somewhat meets your desrcription

BluebellGal · 16/11/2017 14:56

Also Bananas I rate Diptyque Tam Dao as a very good woody perfume

explodingkittens · 16/11/2017 18:46

Hi bananas - I agree that Tam Dao is a lovely woody, spicy scent. Have you tried Pecksniff's Black Oak and Cedar - sounds like it might work well for you?

This is Fragrantica's list of woody scents, might be helpful!

explodingkittens · 16/11/2017 18:53

Oooh, how about Stash by Sarah Jessica Parker? Woody, spicy, fabulous - and cheap!

BluebellGal · 16/11/2017 19:00

Grin Nope Janet wasn’t a hoofer and I have two left feet, but I do like Strictly Come Dancing if that’s counts? Name is a reference to the carpet of Bluebells I’ve cultivated in the garden rather than dance troupe. Might need to name change soon as I haven’t done it in ages. Names suggestions please!

Pest unfortunately I only have the one teeth guard, it cost £125 Shock so putting off getting a replacement. The dentist made a terrible job of the last one and it’s uncomfortable. She also made it for the bottom teeth but I understand it’s more usual to wear it on the top?

I had a good day and I’m enjoying the Miller Harris Noix de Tubereuse, this stuff has amazing staying power! Planning to dip into the sample box tomorrow and pick something more exciting.

franktheskank · 16/11/2017 19:03

There’s a Stella McCartney perfume I wear it’s in a purple bottle whenever I wear it everyone stands up and says ooooh what’s that lovely smell Grin

MrsMacNally · 16/11/2017 19:34

Maybe you should regenerate as TubereuseGal Smile.

Hello Bananas. I like things like that. Recent ebay bargains have included 5 or 10 mls of:

Van Cleef & Arpels Extraordinaire Cologne Noire (rich dark spices and woody notes).

Jardins D'Ecrivains George (beautiful tobacco, woods and spice).

Morabito Or Black (aromatic herbs, woods and resins).

You might also like:

Miller Harris La Fumee (woody aromatic resins)

And harder to get hold of:

Zoologist Elephant (major leather) (you need to get this from Bloom - they do samples).

Tauer's Lonestar Memories (rich leather and smoke) (again, get a sample, available from Les Senteurs - a faff but worth it).

MrsMacNally · 16/11/2017 19:42

No-one ever says that to me Frank Grin. But then I do sometimes smell of Rhinoceros...Banana - in the post below I meant Rhinoceros not Elephant (Zoologist).
