Sorry to hear you've had a crap day bluebell - amazing how a good scent can help get you through, though!

I think badders is a big fan of Addict? I must admit I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would, although it's probably a bit gourmand for me until it's been on a good few hours. But certainly worth a sniff imo. Turin and Sanchez are very rude about it in the perfume bible, though...

Think it might have to be LADDM tomorrow after all the Tauer chat today.

CountFosco · 14/11/2017 22:28

I want to try this Dryad that is a new favourite of the thread seemingly...

Blame DH and his obsession with it. Get the Papillon Sampler set to try them all. Tobacco Rose is a fab sophisticated Rose and Angelique is lovely. Salome makes you smell like you haven't washed after a dirty weekend though so not so work appropriate.

PerfumeIsAMessage · 15/11/2017 06:44

Haha, I remember the dirty pant Salome talk when I used to lurk on this thread.

explodingkittens · 15/11/2017 08:22

SOTD is LADDM. Just blissful. Just gorgeous. Happiness in a little dabber bottle.

teta · 15/11/2017 09:16

Baccarat Rouge is one of my favourite cool weather perfumes. But Dh hates it - he says it smells like mouldy wood. But that doesn't stop me wearing it.I don't think there's any other perfume quite like it.

Jo Malone Nutmeg & Ginger today .I love the Ginger top notes best and normally top up regularly with Roger & Gallet Gingembre, but I can't find my bottle. May spray Rosee de nuit instead for more spicy woodiness.

Does anyone else get buttered syrupy apricots after the initial Elnett notes with Angelique? I enjoy the skin-toned basenotes, but find the gourmand notes almost too much.

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/11/2017 12:53

SOTD is DKNY Woman. Happy memories of a shopping holiday in New York when money was no object. I first bought this in Bloomingdales in a last minute dash before the cab arrived to take me to the airport. Still love it. Think this would be my signature scent.

BluebellGal · 15/11/2017 15:06

Haha teta my DH said Baccarat Rouge smells of children’s sweets (as opposed to adult sweets?Hmm) and your DH says it’s smells of mouldy wood Confused.... Philistines! It’s smells of wonderful ambergris Woods and Saffron with a bit of medicinal disinfectant thrown in (but that might just be me!). Totally unique, outstanding longevity but not for all (what is?)

SOTD is Lady Vengence by JHAG. Meh... don’t understand why this is niche as it just smells like something you’d get in next or M&S and a bit like pot pouri

BluebellGal · 15/11/2017 15:07

Thanks for all the well wishes. Managed to clear the decks a bit in my life (work+home) and working from home today. Roll on the weekend Grin

BluebellGal · 15/11/2017 15:11

What is Angélique teta sounds appealing. I like the sound of the JM just wish they lasted on me.

I am now researching dryad samples- Glitterball for all you enablers. I’ll be skint before Xmas at this rate

MrsMacNally · 15/11/2017 16:14

MrsS - if you are not my scent twin then you are a close female relative. I like citrus and tomato - see also Eau de Campagne.

CountFosco · 15/11/2017 17:56

Bluebell Angelique is another Papillon scent, comes in a sample set with Dryad.

CountFosco · 15/11/2017 17:59

Teta you are dangerous. After forcing me to buy the Papillon sample set you now mention the Roger and Gallet ginger perfume which I will obviously have to try after loving the MJ Ginger Splash. Ginger is one of the few things I can currently smell with this cold.

teta · 15/11/2017 18:40

Bluebell I smell distinct Candyfloss in Baccarat Rouge. The saltiness of the Ambergris acts as a counterpoint and stops it from becoming too sweet I reckon. Then again I'm a sucker for all Ambergris perfumes.
The Papillon sample set is really well worth getting. Anubis and Salome are stunning perfumes and Tobacco Rose is very easy to love.
CountFosco Grin

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 15/11/2017 19:31

Ooh the Roger and Gallet Gingembre is good at this time of year... There's not much by the way if shops in my town (thankfully...) but there is quite a big chemist with a decent R and G display so I do like a spritz... Still intending to stick to the no more purchases until Christmas resolve though but if course it really is perfect for the ru up to Christmas...

I hope you all enjoy getting your Tauers! Orange Star appeals to me on paper and I'd also like to try Une Rose Chypre so after Christmas I might wait and see whether the miniature range extends rather than go straight to Les Scenteurs samples...

SotD was Dolce and Gabbana The One. Nice enough with the bergamot and vanilla but nothing exceptional and not much longevity on me - the little 2mlish sample bottle is close to empty after one day...

Judydreamsofhorses · 15/11/2017 20:03

No twins today, kittens, I am in Mitsouko.

bluebell roll on the weekend here too! In better news from here I finally caught up with my manager at work today. I’d not seen him face to face since summer, and had been completely paranoid and fretting I was going to end up in the “capability policy” because I’ve had so much time off for dental appointments. I asked him outright and he was genuinely horrified, then actually rang me later to reiterate that it wasn’t even on his radar. The capability policy is generally used to manage people out who have had a lot of absences. (I haven’t had time off sick and have always scheduled appointments round classes, but there have been a LOT of appointments!) It probably sounds daft but it is such a huge weight off my mind.

OCSockOrphanage · 15/11/2017 20:13

Dries van Noten/FM again today. I like it, linear sandalwood, but easy and none the worse for it. Good for the autumn season, yet light.

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/11/2017 20:38

Mrs M - yes, love Eau de Campagne too. Also Eau du Sud, Eau d'Hadrien, and several of the Monotheme citrussy ones from M & S. Oh and Molyneux Quartz.

JanetStWalker · 15/11/2017 21:01

I'm partial to a bit of DvN too, OC. I found it vaguely repulsive at first, a bit like milky cat sick but I started to actually crave it. Wore it loads around Christmas last year.

In Samsara today, vintage EDP. Got to love that sandalwood!

MrsMacNally · 15/11/2017 21:30

Yup, Eau du Sud and [Les Nuits] D'Hadrien are desert island picks. Need to try some Quartz!

BluebellGal · 15/11/2017 22:39

That’s brilliant news judy must be such a weight of your shoulders with everything else going on. Well done for being brave and facing the issue head, that sort of conversation can be awkward. Hopefully will lead to teeth grinding tonight ...speaking of which I have been v good and wearing my teeth guard but now have a little hole where I’ve been grinding through the plastic - that could have been my enamel gone for good Shock I think it just shows how stressed I am at the moment. I’m currently enjoying my Diptyque candle which is worth every penny for its de stressing powers!

teta yes I know what you mean about Baccarat Rouge reminding you of candyfloss, it could easily be too sweet but it’s perfectly blended and balanced like you say, so never cloying. This is why I believe Francis Kurkdjian is a so talented and his perfumes so unique. My DH’s aftershave when I met him was JPG Le Male and even though he hasn’t worn it for donkeys years (and it’s dated) I do think it’s a masterpiece- it was so revolutionary and his use of mint was ahead of the time. I only wish I could afford FBs of MFK. I treasure my samples Blush

BluebellGal · 15/11/2017 22:40

^ oh dear I’ve left a few key words out of my posts. Judy I meant hopefully it will lead to LESS teeth grinding (obvs)

BluebellGal · 15/11/2017 22:46

JanetstreetWalker (great name btw) DvN smells like milky cat sick Shock Grin

MrsMacNally · 15/11/2017 22:49

Milky cat sick

You're not selling this one, Janet, and that note isn't listed in Fragrantica. That said, I always think Jicky has a moment of spilt sweetened yoghurt you can't quite get out of a car footwell mat, and that's a masterpiece Grin.

JanetStWalker · 15/11/2017 22:59

That's extraordinarily specific, MrsMac, anything you want to tell us? Hmm Grin

BluebellGal, (were you a hoofer?) it's nicer than it sounds, I promise!Grin

MrsPestilence · 15/11/2017 23:08

Selperniku has an undeniable slightly off yoghurt aroma. But is also quite nice.

SotD is Gunpowder Rose. A gentle sulphurous undertone. With a bit of coal tar and again a slight hint of milk / lactic. Don't think I am selling this either.

There is currently a thread, what perfume would you name a baby after. Eau de Sid sprang to mind immediately. Grin

Blue do you have spare teeth guards, you have worn it through worryingly quickly?
