The Ordinary - so good it's scary

I'm sure I'm well behind the curve but I bought some products finally and last night used the retionoid stuff for the first time. My word I can see a difference today already!!! In sll seriousness: clearer brighter skin.
Disclaimer I've not spent much on skincare for at least a decade as I felt I couldn't afford anything properly decent. So just oil cleansing. Very basic products so maybe my baseline is really low. But I've never seen a difference like this before. Amazed.

OP posts:
HemanOrSheRa · 09/11/2017 10:28

Hehe! Yes, I know what you mean! My foundation looks lovely too. Dare I say I have a dewy glow that I thought only happened to other people Grin.

I think people have a problem with their make up rolling off when they use Azeliac Acid in the morning. However, I'm on the FB group that Bagel mentioned and some people seem to slap ALL OF THE PRODUCTS on in huge amounts Confused.

HemanOrSheRa · 09/11/2017 10:29

Ooh thanks Olli. My order has been shipped!

DollyPartonsBeard · 09/11/2017 11:48

Heman Ah right, that hasn't happened to me (although I need new glasses so maybe it is lol!).

packofshunts · 09/11/2017 13:33

My God, how many products??!!

Would consider giving it a go but apart from the colossal cost, who has the time to apply it all?

Ferrousfumerate1 · 09/11/2017 14:35

So, can anyone advise? I've been using the Retinol 1%. Stupidly I put some around my under eyes (even though, annoyingly, it doesn't say anything about NOT on the packaging).

My eyes looks so crepey and had little red/burnt bits. The burnt bits are clearing up but the skin looks crepey.

Will it improve? I'm using rose oil and aloe vera. Should I use any eye creams?

BagelGoesWalking · 09/11/2017 17:26

Packofshunts it doesn’t actually take long. Only 2-3 drops needed and they sink in pretty fast so even using a few different products is fine, especially if you do it between hair & teeth brushing, for example.

Ferrous have you got any oil you can slather over, or just keep moisturising over and over. Do you have to use the 1%? There are gentler options.

BagelGoesWalking · 09/11/2017 17:54

👍 to yesstyle.com. Placed an order on 2nd Nov and received today. How exciting 😬

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner
Scinic all in one Ampoule

I’m not actually going to use them yet as I have cellulitis on one eye so my face is in a bit of a state. Will wait for the antibiotics clear it up (fingers crossed) and I can give them a trial.

HemanOrSheRa · 10/11/2017 19:53

Ooh that was quick Bagel!

If you are still reading - how are your eyes Ferrous?

BagelGoesWalking · 13/11/2017 18:47

Oh God! Sorry for that last post with all the weird links! Should have used Preview Post obviously Blush

PurpleTraitor · 16/11/2017 10:38

Ok here’s the thing. I clicked on this thread because I have seen this brand mentioned before and I feel like I need to do something about my skin, which has been horrible for over a decade. I was thinking maybe some kind of face cream might help.

Now I am totally boggled. Even boggled by the OP who says they just do basic oil cleansing. What is that? How do you know if you have oily skin or dry skin or what your skin type is, let alone which of the 20 million products you need?

My skincare routine is currently this. Wash face with damp cloth in the morning. Wash face under shower in the evening, with eye make up remover pads afterward. Put concealer on spots when I’m going to work or out in the evening. Wear the same suncream as goes on the kids and the rest of my body when I’m on holiday or about four days a year in the UK.

I thought that might be pretty standard but I’m sensing it isn’t....

cannotmakemymindup · 16/11/2017 12:33

Hello purpletraitor
It doesn't sound like you are moisturising at all but still wearing makeup?
At the very least moisturise once a day. Especially before applying makeup. It helps makeup to sit better but also to not be dried out.

cannotmakemymindup · 16/11/2017 12:39

Oh and if you are not sure what type of skin you have, if you ever pass any beauty counters in department stores ask one of the lovely assistants for their opinion.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/11/2017 18:39

Can anyone remember which courier was used by the ordinary?.

I'm bound to be out when it arrives.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/11/2017 18:43

purple www.carolinehirons.com/2011/07/cleansing-cheat-sheet.html read this.

In later blogs she says to never put your face under the shower.

packofshunts · 16/11/2017 19:10

Bloody hell Fluffy; never realised cleansing had so many steps to it! Appears to be a hugely technical process of which I was clearly ignorant wet face, slap on cleanser, rinse

PurpleTraitor · 16/11/2017 19:29

OK, so so far I have this.

I need some face cream/ moisturiser (suspected I did, that’s why I clicked). I need this because I wear make up, or just generally?
I need some cleanser, but the flannel and water are correct (bonus?)
I wash my face twice a day, which seems to also be correct, but I should not be washing it in the shower - I’m not sure how to shower without putting my face under the water, it’s the first thing I do, plus washing long hair with a fringe....but I will try!

How does one learn these things....the last time I read anything about skin types I think was in Mizz aged about 13. I clearly never progressed past this.

packofshunts · 16/11/2017 19:31

Mizz Grin

Oil cleanse is where you use just an oil to "wash" your face, then remove with a hot cloth. I like sweet almond oil best. It balances out oil so if you're prone to spots etc it's actually good for that, and it removes all your makeup.

I LOVE the ordinary, espcieally how you can pick and choose what you want. Currently in using:

Vit c + Hylauronic acid - took some time for my skin to get used to but well worth it, my skin is radiant now!

Natural moisturising factors - love this as it's calming. I don't use it all the time just when my skin is a bit irritated/sensitive/needs a drink of water.

Salycilic acid - love this. Doesn't work as a spot treatment for me (tea tree oil does) but I use a drop all over my face to keep it smooth

Azaleic acid - stings a bit at times. I use the tiniest amount - too much and it balls off.

Caffeine solution - complete cheat for looking well rested when you're not!

Argireline - really does smooth out wrinkles. I use it on forehead, round eyes and in laughter lines. Made a big difference over time.

Serum foundation - my favourite foundation ever and soooo cheap!

I did try the squalene solution aswell but it broke me out, not uncommon apparently if you're oily/spot prone, but I passed it to my friend who never gets spots and she loves it, she's noticed the plumping effect on her skin after a few days.

The Ordinary has become my payday treat because I can try a couple of new things for not too much £, and Victoria Health deliver so quick it's always on the doormat the next day!

packofshunts · 16/11/2017 19:40

It’s like you’re speaking (except you’re writing!) in another language Jersey Confused

I have literally no clue what all those products are and have been this earth 46 years!

HemanOrSheRa · 16/11/2017 19:46

Fluffy The last two Deceim parcels I had a couple of weeks ago were delivered by DPD. I did have one delivered a while back by the postman though.

lovemylover · 16/11/2017 22:27

I think I need the Aregeline, but cant find it anywhere on the website,
What is the best thing to use with it please,if anyone knows

HemanOrSheRa · 16/11/2017 22:43

Here you go love. I use it with hyaluronic acid. I put that on all over and the argireline on my wrinkly bits. The hyaluronic acid is a humectant so as it draws moisture into your skin it will take anything else with it so it works better. I think that's how it works Grin.

HemanOrSheRa · 16/11/2017 22:43
